- Bomba es tanto una danza tradicional como un estilo musical de Puerto Rico. Sus orígenes están arraigados en la historia de la isla de la esclavitud africana, pero hoy se ha convertido en una expresión comunitaria de la cultura afro-puertorriqueña en la celebración de nuestra ascendencia africana. Bomba es realmente una relación creativa e interactiva entre bailarines, percusionistas y cantantes. Hoy en día se practica como una actividad comunitaria en sus centros de origen en Loíza, Santurce, Mayagüez y Ponce. Además, los migrantes puertorriqueños han llevado la tradición a algunas partes de los Estados Unidos. ¡Disfruta de mi cultura!

I agree, I have the same cry from pride. Years ago when I visited Puerto Rico in the 90s after growing up in the culture in Connecticut and continued in New York, of course, I ate the food danced to the Mambo in the clubs, but it was the trip to Loiza Aldea that brought tears to my eyes and seeing up close an elderly Afro-Boricua woman, her face was coal dark, but smooth as silk, and her hair the color and likes of a raven's feather as I looked into her eyes and my heart begin to weep, she was my kindred "Abuela." Then, I went to Loiza Aldea." It humbled me because I saw family, yes I spoke and speak Spanish, but the lasting impression is that the character of Loiza Aldea's population is marked by simplicity of manners, kindness and hospitality. I have gone back since my first visit and stateside I even learned to dance Bomba.

@TotallySxmmyYT So, get this. Next week will be me & my husband's 4 mo anniversary. He was born in Loiza, his father returned and is in Ponce. I am now a Lopez lol (little black chick from L.A.).
So we did the courthouse but I'm insisting that we have a vow renewal on our 1st anniversary complete with a BOMBA circle for the reception. I lost my husband and sister with : "I want to wear a Bomba dress!" LOL
In any case, we will be going to Loiza soon. I haven't been to PR in 33 years (when my 1st husband and me would go weekly from St Thomas); and we only went through Old San Juan to Bayamon and back. So I'm REALLY excited. And I KNOW I will just be so happy to see our beautiful black & brown skinned people.

Aquí no están representando la cultura Africana. Están representando la cultura puertorriqueña. Eso de blanco y negro será común allá en Cuba, pero aquí esto es de todo los puertorriqueño sin excepción. El que no sepa nada de la cultura puertorriqueña que no diga nada.

@@elir.torres8642 Pretty much everywhere in the American (not US) tropics there are pockets of Afrodescendant people that have preserved much of their ancestral culture. What you see here is just one of those pockets. Cuba, PR, and Colombia are just three of the countries with Afrodescendant populations that still retain a lot of the ancestral West African culture

in Nigeria, I've been doing alot of reading alot of different tribes and where they were taken to in the Americas.
In Nigeria the Yoruba, Igbo and Ibibio tribes were brought from Nigeria to Puerto rico 🇵🇷 🇳🇬
