It's Green Mandarin, the citrus in the opening: the skin is limelike the flesh when ripe is orange warm and sweet. I was osmagining more mastic gum, Cypress and herbal tones with a saline mineralic gray amber dry-down; it sounds like Gío is getting more of my cash. Glad this lasts at least the workday and sounds like the projection is engaging but polite...very Armani. Sexy and clean is tough to do but Uncle Albie & Giorgio have it nailed...just as you do my fragrant friend with your review style. Was hoping for a deeper darker take on AdG. When I stopped claiming a signature scent AdG EDT was my last...one reason I love it soooo much was it was over twenty years old (ten years old when I first smelled it) and never had or even needed a flanker. I expected to hate each flanker and from Essenza to Profumo to Profumo Special Blend I've loved each one more. The absolus were fun flings but neither rate a retail FB purchase from me. This however has me dreaming of sailing deep water no land in sight sun salt and spray on my face...smell swell & be well, JR xox

I own ezzensa and absolu and I tried profondo yesterday and I think the first 1-2 hours smell like original but a bit sweeter and it dry downs like absolu but less sweeter overall I really like profondo 👍🏼
I’ve been an Aqua Di Parma Colonia wearer for years and decided to try ADGP…… ADGP turned into a pleasant smell after the initial over the top synthetic blast subsided. I still prefer ADP and it’s natural citrus floral bergamot scent …Armani is just a little too synthetic albeit pleasant
I was so excited about this one right from the day of announcement, because of the notes. Tried it yesterday from Douglas. It was phenomenal and I'm gonna get a big bottle👍

Very thorough breakdown Steven. As a fragrance enthusiast kinda let down that it's not something different and unique seems like 2020 has been lackluster in that facet by designers so far. However as a fan of the original aqua di gio this sounds like a decent modern take on it and I'll likely pick up a bottle in the spring. Congratulations on the 50ml bottles for your line as well.
Probably won't see anything daring or exciting from any of the mainstream designers anymore. All they care about is lining their pockets with money vs innovation and pushing the envelope. Mass appealing safe scents will do that for them sadly.
Salicylates don't smell ozonic, some of them smell green, some floral but a common denominator for Salicylates is oily, warm. Common in tropical flowers like ylang ylang, tuberose etc the contribute to the sunny to some extent to warmth of such flowers. Floral ozone, calone, helional, scentenal, ultrazure etc smell ozonic and besides that they used a firmenich captive molecule Aquazone. But thank you for the review, I enjoyed it, thumbs up!

Acqua Di Gio was the best fragrance on the planet earth from 1996 to 2009. After they reformed that gorgeous smell, and ADG today a bad or just an average fragrance. :/
Tried this yesterday also when i bought Dolce& Gabbana Summer vibes. After watching so many reviews about Profondo. I have never understood what people is talking about when they say salty.....To me this smelled good. Citrus first and then some soft fruity floral and the drydown felt almost like Ysl-Y edt, edp, with that sweet ambery apple. Couldn´t smell anything salty at all. I was very close to buy it but felt it was a bit too similar to Y edt. Think this is great for summer.
I'm looking for everyday dumb reach spring/summer fragrance. My Versace PH is running out and Chanel AHS & AHSEE are for special occasions. I like ADG, and there is something in ADGP that I don't like. Is this the thing I'm looking for? Because I'm looking for mass pleasing fresh everyday fragrance. Jeremy pulled me into fragrances over Alpha m channel. He is something like pop star. But then I discovered more channels like Gents Scents, Joy Amin, Fragrance Apprentice, JROYL, BFL... And when I want to hear a word from "proffesor" I come to Redolessence 😉

Keep wearing Versace PH and buy another bottle. It's so unique I can never get enough of it. Get D&G light blue intense or Office of men. Both are just fantastic. If you're not convinced ask for more and I'll give you other great choices
Great review! I can't wait to try this out when it hits the stores. I definitely want to check it out before Summer because I can see this being a good summer fragrance, if its fresh and clean. It will depend if I really like it or not, because I was planning on re upping on another fragrance before summer as well but I would jump on this before it gets popular.

Luke Logan I love it ...the opening is excellent it’s not a sweet young fragrance it has a lovely airy aquatic feel after the citrus opening and heads to a slightly dry spicy dry down ,I think it’s a nice addition to the line
Essenza is My favorite but unfortunately pretty much impossible to find now. About a year ago I bought the last reasonably priced one off eBay. lovely strong smelling juice Btw very excited to try this one
Blind bought my bottle... This is a very blue version of the original Acqua Di Gio. You were spot on with the similarity. 70% similar and the 30% being the blue...ish side of it. . Once again awesome video. Sendin you some California luv!
Nice video my friend, now, let me be honest, from all Acqua de Gio, and living in Costa Rica, Absolu wins by far. A very contrasting flanker with its own composition, but really brings a delightul scent on a warm humid weather. It works very good and is very long lasting, brings mass appealing. At this moment I wear it oftenly and mainly in the beach and during the day, in the warm and with a more classy company or in events, I do use Primas, thanks to your advice

I recently bought 125ml profumo but ended up selling it because it had no projection or sillage or longevity what so ever, it was gone after 1-2-3 hours.. The new batches must be really weak. How strong is this compared to the new batches of profumo? With that profumo bottle I had I had to re apply every few hour
No wonder they weakened profumo in mid 2019...profumo was strong from 2015 to 2018...I knew they were going to reformulate acqua di gio profumo and code profumo...no fragrance is safe..lol

Hi Steven, You are a legend in this fragrance game, and never ever fail to deliver, both you and Carlos are my favourite reviewers. 😊 With regards to Profondo on fragrantica, alot of people say it smells across between the original and Absolut, (the latter not really any cuppa tea so to speak). I found it very akin Invictus Aqua and considering I already own Invictus aqua 2016 don't want to make a redundant purchase, also may I ask what airport you picked it up at. I am a major ADG fan all bar Absolut, Absolut Instint and Essenza. In Essenza I just found there was like an "off" putting note in there reminiscent of an egg smell. Can you confirm if you pick up any of that nuance at all in the new Profondo? Keep up the great work 👍🏾 Greetings from 🏴
Rob F. I think Essenza is the best of the line. I would see if there are discounters/ independent retailers located in the mall. That’s what I did. The guy had 3 bottles of it plus an 150ml. This was last summer.

had mine a week its excellent ...the more i try it the more i like it ....opening is superb ,i do think i get nose fatigue though as i can barely smell it after 45 minutes but all of a sudden a few hours later i get a waft ....i think its a great addition and complements profumo perfectly ,really glad it isnt sweet
Redolessence I really do ,mad but it smells exactly how I hoped it would Definitely a “mature” take on the freshie it really does lack any sort of overt sweetness ,this won’t last long once it warms up ,,,too cold in the uk to really enjoy it at the minute 😂

I smell it at the airport too and i can say that it has a pleasant smell but for the price i would prefer the mancera s fragrances wich is known for it s high quality ingrediens and a beast performance too

I think that designers, one after the other, have stoped trying to create unique and groundbreaking fragrances. They seem to prefer the mainstream safe roads to follow. Even Dior, who had so much success with Savauge (which I think is the last unique and groundbreaking designer fragrance), and showed that you can have big sales and success, without following the safe road, instead of continuing that road, revealed the new Dior Homme which was a big disappointment.
Great review as always Steven, i got a bottle of it recently and my initial impression is it still has the original ADG DNA plus hints of Bleu de Chanel and Bulagari Aqua, it gives you very marine vibes, the longevity is good 6+ hours, still a great addition to the line.
Sounds like an absolute winner to me as for I love the original and wished the original had better performance so if this have better performance than the original, I'm all in
Just tried it an hour ago and had a lot of hopes - Very disappointing as all other GIO flankers, and personally I didn't pickup any GIO "dna". This flanker reminds me something else (like unfortunately, most of the fragrances these days) Such a shame that the original GIO is so GOOD and all the flankers are not, but this is just my opinion.

Didn't buy the original because of its lackluster performance. But I am reallyyyy tempted to buy the now discontinued Essenza from a local discounter. What do you think about the scent? No comparison between the 2. Office for men is more into ambroxyn while this one goes more into marine salty notes If you want to compare office for men to another fragrance, it would be Sauvage EDP or Parfum versions. But Office for men is better according to me.
Great review. I love the ADG line. I am curious as to why you didn't mention Absolu at all, since it's somewhat similar to Invictus. I actually prefer it over Invictus. With the calone note...I assume you are speaking of the note they called Aquozone in the breakdown? That is what I thought when I saw it

I'm sorry to hear that. I get goo projection and longevity from my Profumo, but I am not sure about any recent reformulations.

Rob F. I think Essenza is the best of the line. I would see if there are discounters/ independent retailers located in the mall. That’s what I did. The guy had 3 bottles of it plus an 150ml. This was last summer.
I gotta find a bottle! So far I have Profumo and Essenza so this would be a nice addition to the lineup 😊

had mine a week its excellent ...the more i try it the more i like it ....opening is superb ,i do think i get nose fatigue though as i can barely smell it after 45 minutes but all of a sudden a few hours later i get a waft ....i think its a great addition and complements profumo perfectly ,really glad it isnt sweet

Definitely a “mature” take on the freshie it really does lack any sort of overt sweetness ,this won’t last long once it warms up ,,,too cold in the uk to really enjoy it at the minute 😂

I smell it at the airport too and i can say that it has a pleasant smell but for the price i would prefer the mancera s fragrances wich is known for it s high quality ingrediens and a beast performance too

This one is actually near beast mode performance/projection off my skin. Which I actually didn’t want because I was looking for more of a casual wear.

This sounds exactly like something I like as I still love the original Acqua Di Gio but was kinda disappointed with Absolu because I wanted something a bit newer with the same vibe as the original and Absolu was way too sweet for my liking. I think that designers, one after the other, have stoped trying to create unique and groundbreaking fragrances. They seem to prefer the mainstream safe roads to follow. Even Dior, who had so much success with Savauge (which I think is the last unique and groundbreaking designer fragrance), and showed that you can have big sales and success, without following the safe road, instead of continuing that road, revealed the new Dior Homme which was a big disappointment.

Profumo is much darker to me because of the incense and Patchouli notes.

Great review as always Steven, i got a bottle of it recently and my initial impression is it still has the original ADG DNA plus hints of Bleu de Chanel and Bulagari Aqua, it gives you very marine vibes, the longevity is good 6+ hours, still a great addition to the line.

Sounds like an absolute winner to me as for I love the original and wished the original had better performance so if this have better performance than the original, I'm all in
Cool! Just keep in mind that I think Profumo has even better performance.
Just tried it an hour ago and had a lot of hopes - Very disappointing as all other GIO flankers, and personally I didn't pickup any GIO "dna".
This flanker reminds me something else (like unfortunately, most of the fragrances these days)
Such a shame that the original GIO is so GOOD and all the flankers are not, but this is just my opinion.

On my skin for the first hour it has a YSL Y vibe to it ,but when it dries down it goes back to more an aqua di gio.

Great take. Believe it or not, i dont have profumo, it just never did it for me on the the 1st spray, got a sample a couple of times, still didnt work for me

Didn't buy the original because of its lackluster performance. But I am reallyyyy tempted to buy the now discontinued Essenza from a local discounter. What do you think about the scent? While I think it's a good fragrance, I wouldn't recommend paying too much money for it. If you can find that at a decent price, I would say go for it.
Glad I didn't end up buying Profumo. Hope I can smell this before they close Macy's. I heard they were gonna close 125 of its stores in the next 3 years. :(

How similar is it to the DNA of Office for Men since it's done by the same perfumer?
Very different in my opinion. Office is much more sparkling whereas this one is smoother and close to the original AdG DNA.
No comparison between the 2.
Office for men is more into ambroxyn while this one goes more into marine salty notes
If you want to compare office for men to another fragrance, it would be Sauvage EDP or Parfum versions. But Office for men is better according to me.
Great review. I love the ADG line. I am curious as to why you didn't mention Absolu at all, since it's somewhat similar to Invictus. I actually prefer it over Invictus.
With the calone note...I assume you are speaking of the note they called Aquozone in the breakdown? That is what I thought when I saw it
