People that have never seen lake Michigan can never grasp the absolute mammoth size of the "lake". I feel like it surpasses lake status when you can't see over the horizon.

A lot of British tourists in Florida were super careful around the sand and worried about quicksand. I didn't even know it was a real thing until they told me about it being a problem at English beaches. The sugar sand in Florida, once that gets wet it's as hard as rock, so there's no sinking there lol.

As parody, while Leroy is badder than old King Kong, Laurence is badder than that merry old soul, King Cole from the nursery rhyme. Leroy is meaner than a junkyard dog, but Laurence is meaner than a puppy. I really put some thought into it - sorry that it fell flat. It was only meant in fun. My great-grandfather used to own one of the apartment buildings on Waveland Avenue. This would be in the 1930's sometime, so predating a lot of the improvements at Wrigley, and also predating all the 'rooftop seating' that's on top of buildings now. Back then, my grandmother used to bring my mother and her sisters to Baba's place to climb to the roof with chairs and watch the games for free.
Also, I am willing to bet that your wasp was a yellow jacket. Bees aren't that mean, wasps have a distinct profile that can't be mistake for bees. Yellow jackets are just plain assholes and yes, they will pursue you for frickin' ever. You did well to run, believe me!

My G-pa couldn’t see that great, so my dad sat next to him & did a play by play for him. That was a great day. I just lost my dad two weeks ago & it’s been rough. We had to walk 15 minutes or 20 minutes down the hill to get to the downtown area. They kept saying "is it 5 blocks or 5 Linda blocks?" Which led me to believe that they were starting to get tired. And this is a colonial city, so they aren't even real big city blocks! My friend had grown up in the same neighborhood Laurence is in now, but I guess the years of the suburbs have softened her

There is no east side of Chicago, It's all beach, from Evanston then south to the Indiana border. You can ride all the way down the lakefront by bicycle. It's all quite beautiful, thanks to a cranky old man named Aaron, who sued the city and developers whenever they tried to build on the water. Aaron had a lot of money and he kept them in court for twenty years until they gave up and made the lakefront a recreational area for the public. There's a bust dedicated to him at the entrance to the Museum Campus on 11th Street - Aaron Montgomery Ward.

The wasp might of been a yellow jacket or sand wasp that have the yellow black colorings that look like a bee. Great video, it's been 30+ years since I was in that area of Chicago.

That was much more likely to have been a wasp than a bee. I've never known a bee to follow someone the way that did. The behavior is pretty common with wasps.
Wrigley Field is named for William Wrigley, Jr., who bought the Cubs in 1921 (the ballpark was built in 1914 for the Chicago Whales baseball club of the Federal League). That same William Wrigley, Jr. founded the Wrigley chewing gum company.
Harry Caray was the sportscaster for several teams, including the Cubs from 1982 through 1997. He popularized the tradition of singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the seventh inning stretch. The statue depicts Caray leaning out of the broadcast booth to lead fans in singing the song, something he did at every home game from 1976 onwards.

I went to see my sister the first weekend in November in 2016, right after the Cubs won the World Series, and they had already started construction despite the zillions of fans (including us) trying to get pictures in front of the stadium with all the championship paraphernalia on it.
