ZETOR Tractor Restoration Also a look at Project 6!!

- Winter 🥶❄️ is fast approaching so back to the old Zetor 6711 to strip it down and take panels away for painting, made a small start on cleaning some pats of the tractor of surface rust using wire wheel on a small grinder. Removed a second battery and the box it sits in, does anyone know the reason why these tractors had a second battery? If you do please leave us a comment below.

Re the 2 Battery s back in the day when batteries were not as powerful in CCA they were designed to run 2 X 12 Volt run in parallel 12 volt system
But now you would likely get away with 1 good 12 volt

Winters that they have in Czech Republic where that were made and their wast some kind of a switch to turn when you got it started to put back to 12v system.

Thanks Noel, ah I was a bit puzzled as to why it had 2! That would explain it, there is a cold start button on the left side of the engine once pressed it fires right up. So would the 2 batteries then create a 24v start up for the cold weather for faster cranking?. Aye we are learning as we go and really appreciate you taking the time to comment 👌🏻.

I'v only ever run the zetors on one twelve volt battery only. In regards to cold start there is a little button between the injectors and the compressor which you press down before cranking and it will start straight away. It looks like a decompression button. Its circular and only about 8mm round.
I’ve only been using one battery up to now, yeah I’ve managed to figure out that little button for helping start in the mornings fires right up once pressed 👌🏻
The clutch is out in mine and my part owner who is the mechanic won’t start. 3 months now.
Maybe I need to take a trip over and we can get it sorted 👌🏻, it’s not much good whenever you can’t get the use of it. Clutch in mine isn’t great but the pedal needs reworking as it’s very worn at the shaft end, if that doesn’t improve it then il split the tractor 🚜
