    Can you share a little bit about the "recipe of the day"? What is the salt and acid doing exactly to the brass, in this step? And why use the flour?

    • @HobbyTimeRestoration
      @HobbyTimeRestoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hello Gal, nice question...
      The salt (sodium chloride) reacts with the acetic acid of the vinegar to produce sodium acetate and hydrogen chloride to dissolve the tarnish. The flour mixed to salt and vinegar makes a paste that provides some grit to scrub all the tarnish away from the brass without scratching the surface.
      I'm not a chemist, if there is someone who can give more information they are welcome to join the discussion 😉👍

    Ciao una informazione che spazzola hai usato per lucidare ? Ho visto che prima di passare i vari pezzi sotto la spazzola hai passato prima un’altro metallo ..... grazie mille e complimenti ☺️

    • @HobbyTimeRestoration
      @HobbyTimeRestoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ciao Simone, ho usato paglietta d'acciaio fine, mentre per lucidare ho usato una spazzola in cotone per trapano, la trovi facilmente in ferramenta o online (Set Hobbistico per Lucidatura). Buon restauro 😉

    Domanda? non togli troppo l'aspetto bello dell'ottone che poi sembra un altro metallo??
    Grazie

    • @HobbyTimeRestoration
      @HobbyTimeRestoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ciao Giulio, l'ottone una volta fuso viene lucidato così pure altri metalli, rame bronzo ecc., in effetti la patina scura dà l'effetto invecchiato e vissuto ma io preferisco vedere la lucentezza del metallo come le nostre nonne lucidavano gli utensili in rame per vederli brillare io preferisco gli oggetti al loro splendore. Non ho tolto ne modificato nulla è solo una questione soggettiva.
