      It’s been amazing. Now, when he has to go in for another surgery, because with shunt it’s not if but when, we’ll see if that has changed. I hope so 🤞🏼

      I see! Yeah, his was caused from a brain bleed from premature birth. Sure is amazing how the human body works and how one tiny thing can change the course of how it should work!

    Happy Hydrocephalus Awareness Month 2019! Fellow Hydro warriors and preemies unite! Thank you for bringing awareness to this condition on your channel! It is so amazing that you are showing real life with this condition. I love how your neurosurgeon was so gentle in manipulating the shunt tract. Sometimes scar tissue can build up and it can be painful to touch at times. May his shunt continue to work well! :)

    I can relate to this 100000000%
    So. I was born 8 weeks (2 months) premature. I had so many issues when I was born, including hydrocephalus. I had 7 brain surgeries (6 of them I think revisions of the shunt) i also have a decent size belly scar from the shunt surgeries and that eventually caused major issues with my bowels. When I was 13 I started having problems with my menstruation and found out I had a cyst on my right ovary and needed surgery to remove it. I was going to have laparoscopy surgery to remove the cyst but since there was so much scar tissue from the brain surgeries it had basically grown around my bowels and pushed my female stuff down upside down. A 20 minute tummy surgery turned into a 4 hr surgery because of the scar tissue from the brain surgeries to fix the shunts when i was little

    • @HouseofBrown
      @HouseofBrown  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Thanks for asking! So, it’s basically a sensory overload. There’s more info coming in all at once, sight, sound, etc & it’s how his brain naturally processes it. It all stems back to his brain bleed (brain injury) at birth.

    I have hydrocephalus but only one shunt I have had it 33 years now never had to get a new shunt I did have eye surgery when I was 3 for strabismus I have to where glasses i have worn them since I was like 6 or 7

    • @HouseofBrown
      @HouseofBrown  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, you have a few things in common with Lincoln! He only had one shunt for about 4 years and then we found he needed an additional one. He had a blockage in his lower ventricle and the fluid buildup was pressing on his brain stem. He’s supposed to wear glasses but refuses 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @Kyrie2186
      @Kyrie2186 4 ปีที่แล้ว
