I have MPFL and medial retinaculum thinning . How do I recover

I tore my MPFL a month ago (11/8/17). I’ve started rehab about 2 weeks after date of injury and I’m now able to jog on the treadmill and do all leg workouts with pretty much no pain. I’ve been doing a ton of rehab. I’m 24 years old and start the fire academy in 2 months (March 1st). We run/exercise 4 days a week. Do you think I have a chance at completing the 20 week fire academy without re injuring if I’m cautious?

Mon3yMotivateD1 did u have surgery or just therapy. What were your symptoms. How did u know it was a ligament? Thanks

Cgh Rios No surgery. I got a MRI and results were 3rd degree ligament tear. I completed rehab and continued weight lifting (mainly squatting). I’ve pretty much fully recovered. I have some discomfort every once in a while.

Mon3yMotivateD1 what were your symptoms? How long was it before u felt better. The doctor dislocated my kneecap and i have a lot of locking and it feels like something gets caught. Thanks for replying.

Hey what was your rehab and when did you start jogging and squatting. Did you start squatting 2 weeks after the tear?

@@cghrios783 I have the same locking symptoms and burning feeling on the inner knee like a wound. It does not feel dislocated though.

Maya, I belief the female is one of the students, and all 3 students are sitting in the back of the room. Interesting about the pay difference. Is it perhaps that more women work part time? I found the topics and depth of discussion on this presentation relevant for the practice I work in. Thank you.

Why is the only woman in the room seated at the back and behind the men? US Census: Median PT Earnings Nearly $10k Lower for Women than Men in 2013. Women may make up 64% of the physical therapist (PT) workforce, but in 2013, they earned about 88% of what male PTs made, according to the latest data from the US Census Bureau.
