Wow! What a jam packed video! So many thoughts, video ideas, questions to answer. Great big "thank you" to Mike & yourself for an entertaining 1hr 17 minutes!
Everyone needs encouragement, so true. I like this guy. There is a genuineness that transcends the screen. As a side note, I am a 53 year old woman, and I want to look as good as "Old Mike" when I'm 80! Rob, love your content, and thank you for a great video.
You’re welcome. It’s a great book. I read it when it first came out and have reread it several times since then. It’s one of those books that help keep me centered.
Sorry I missed the live stream-- Replay crew here for the win! Great interview Rob! I love your down to earth style. Mike, you have inspired me so much. I could not be more happy for your success. You are always so generous with your wisdom.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a lot of fun doing this interview. You are a great TH-cam creator and such an encouragement for people that need to get fit and healthy.❤
I have that issue, too, Rob (need to be alone and drowned out by noises so others can't hear me). I really dislike that about myself. What is that saying about my self-confidence & how to begin changing this? Because we can't always be in solitude to record video.
I know exactly how you feel! However, instead of it getting you down, maybe just try laughing about it... that's what I do :-) Yes it would be great if I could just record what I wanted no matter who is around or can hear me... but that's just not the case for me. So for example, when I'm walking on the trail and wanting to record something but someone else is approaching on the trail, I just laugh at myself, wait for them to pass then record. Or if someone passes me while I'm recording and it throws me off, again, I laugh it off. Because in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. And people don't really care what I'm doing anyways... so I shouldn't give it an extra thought. Bottom line... try not to let it get you down. Just laugh it off, and go try to find a quiet place to record :-) All the best to you!!
so Barb, I absolutely love your music. So when you get up to sing, what do you feel? You don’t seem to be put off at all. What is the difference between picking up a mic to sing and getting in front of the camera to talk? in reality there’s not a lot of difference. Who you are on stage is who you are in life. ❤
@@OldMeLiving Hello, Mike! 😊 ... wow, I appreciate this reply; it fills my heart, thank you, sir ❤️. I am actually headed to band practice now, after work 😀 🎶... You've made me stop and think, and yes, you're correct. I'm feel like I'm in my element when I get to sing for people. I do get nervous about forgetting lyrics, but that's what a quick glance at the iPad is for 😉 ... I believe the real root of my question/comment to you and Rob is fear... fear of comparison to others, not being as articulate as others, as knowledgeable, as intelligent, not being as "great" as some may label us. The channel I'm starting is a geology channel, but I've got other things I want to cover (an umbrella channel, if you will). Spirituality, self-confidence, disordered eating and thinking, midlife, communication (relationship and technical/professional). So many things! And the channel will drive my website (which I'm trying to design in the same way). After watching my favorite Geology TH-camrs, I become intimidated and think, "who the heck am I? How can I compare to him/her!!? (see Rachel's channel, GEOGIRL... also Myron's channel, Myron Cook, he just started last year and is now called the Bob Ross of geology! ❤️🤠⚒️ ). Anyway, sorry for blabbing. Just want to thank you for responding and for the compliment. I am grateful when folks like you (and Rob, Kevin, et al.) cross my path; but especially folks like you, with such vast life experiences that can truly make us all just stop and think...and believe again. Blessings, Mike 🫂 🤗
It's $125 for an hour and you can book a time using the Calendly link I have above, in the Description of this video (in the description of all my videos) :-)
Oh ya you would gain more views from music lover's. I don't think background in den looks cluttered either. Shows artistic n knowledge what I think of first.....on my youtube I just show what is going on in countrylife not worried about talking a lot. I talk to the animal's more than to people out here. I just started trying harder the last few months. I started youtube in 2013 but mainly for grandkids to be able to look back on some day. Loved listening to you both. Thank you.
QUESTION: Mr. Old Mike, 😊 do you feel that "doing TH-cam" has helped sharpen your creativity, quickness, and thinking, in general? I feel foggy and scattered sometimes. Maybe it's anxiety to just start and just "be me* Rob, your thoughts on this, as well, please? Thank you!
My thoughts... YES I think doing youtube absolutely has helped with general thinking and creativity. I spent a LOT of time spinning my wheels before I finally got going with it and I swear, I look back and wished I had just started sooner :-) Nowadays I'm always thinking about TH-cam, what video to make next, how to start my intro, etc. I go for a 5k walk most mornings with relaxing music in my AirPods and that's an hour I spend just thinking about this stuff... and I'll often speak notes into my phone so I don't forget them :-) I definitely do have brain fog, more than I did when I was younger, so I find I have to write a lot of notes so I don't forget things... but I feel like the entire process of thinking what to make next and organizing my thoughts is absolutely helpful to the mind. Our brains aren't getting any younger and so I believe we have to use them... exercise for the brain! :-)
Great video! Thank you both for taking the time to share your wisdom with us.
My pleasure! Thanks for tuning in :-)

I'd like to see you interview Dave Whipple. He's got a lot of wisdom too with creating YT channels.
