I'm not convinced a catamaran is a worthwhile boat. But every now and then you see one that make you think.... The upgrades to this boat really make you think!
You know the World Cruising Guide? The author, Jimmy Cornell, stated in a video he might do his next circumnavigation on a cat... (German language video, Jimmy speaks German! ;-))
I’m a power boater with NO experience with a sailboat of any kind. Having said that ,Rico’s description of the sailing pieces and parts was very enjoyable. It was interesting! As for the rest of the boat? Wow… And of course Victorias preferences and makeovers is both informative AND at times,Funny! Well done guys!!
Not the prettiest Cat on the outside but they did a fabulous job on the interieur. Lots of apartment owners would be jealous of an interieur like this. Perfect liveaboard with awesome upgrades. 🤩⛵🌴🐬🐳🌞 Thank you for bringing this to us.
Incredible catamaran. The space and storage is awesome. Unlimited open sea cruising in that vessel. Very nice layout. This video was a great presentation of the amenities offered and all the upgrades installed.👍
Catamarans like this are the best way to go sailing and exploring, you cannot beat the space/volume you get and with upgrades like that solar package it makes long term cruising a lot more efficient and cost effective. Only drawback is docking fees for them and fees to pull them out of the water, and not everyone can pull a cat out of the water either. Always +/- with things, but these have more + to outweigh the negative.
Love that boat. Some have mentioned concerns with the Leopard brand, but a 2018 has had all the kinks worked out and the copious amount of upgrades makes this a very special opportunity. Love it. I just need to hit the lottery. Great job guys.
I love the interior/exterior design of this yacht!! So very upscale and timeless looking! 👍👍 The amount of storage on the yacht is very generous as well! All in all, this is an excellent yacht!!! 🙌🙌🙌
This is the first cat sail boat that is set up to live aboard that is really comfort plus. It has the front sitting to enjoy on the front deck. Also, so many do not have a user-friendly helm enclosure. They usely have helm wheel sitting out in the weather, why I don't know. A big deck that's usable and dry, and the size of a living room in a home. Then you go down to another room, which makes it like a three story house on the water. Wow, now, who wouldn't like to sail the Caribbean in this boat. Bad to the bone, good. Haha I love this cat.❤️🫠🧜♂️🔱👍
I would be very reluctant to buy a Leopard after seeing the several YT channels having MAJOR,MAJOR issues with these boats. But this one sure is beautiful....
Finally a sailing vessel you guys should do more tours of sailing vessel. For example a tour of Bavaria c50 or like the Benatau Oceanis 60.(this is just feedback not trying to be rude)
With all the channels having serious problems with the builder of these leopards I could not in all honesty recommend anyone buy one. Build quality and customer service are sadly missing.
They tend to be newer models than this and smaller.. I think this is the early version that generated the popularity that's led to those QC issues ... similar problem with earlier lagoons. Huge motor sailor in effect but I'm personally biased against high sun bridge designs.
Not really a setup I'd want to take on major ocean crossings or remote locations, but absolutely perfect for extended trips in less harsh conditions. You could easily stock up for a long stay somewhere, like the VIs, Bahama, areas around Mexico... In nicer weather, certainly anywhere along the coasts. I'm sure it's capable of an ocean crossing, just seems more specifically configured for a very comfy season more locally rather than fighting rough seas on a passage. Definitely something that would be awesome in the islands for a family or couple inviting friends to visit regularly.
It's a lovely Yacht, ideal for use as a home and regular trips far and wide. My only concern is not having enough storage for all my cushions and clothes😉
I find this boat, very attractive Also, this boat has very quality materials when it comes to mechanical it can take anyone all the way around the world with confidence great video !!! 😄✨🇺🇸 Always a reminder, you both are awesome .
27:30 I'm a great fan of induction. All the advantages of gas cooking (quick on/off performance), none of the drawbacks, none of the drawbacks of electric stovetops (except for the power draw) either. And in addition to gas, there is no boundary layer, no issues with heat transfer to the pot (if you have an induction-ready pot, i.e. ferromagnetic material in the bottom). Theoretically, you could build an induction stove that can make the bottom of a pot glow, no matter the contents! Miele makes an induction stovetop that can blast your pot with 7.6 kW for a few seconds to get it ready quicker - I suspect if they kept that up, you'd see your pot glowing cherry red through the boiling water... ;-)
I always thought I wanted a catamaran but after seeing how Hurricane Beryl absolutely wrecked or flipped the catamarans versus the monohulled vessels, I was shocked. But this boat being able to fill its own dive tanks is huge.
I must have missed something no mention of the cup holders! Were they removed on refit. I would have got Victoria to do a pillow count instead, can you imagine how many more pillows you could fit on there! A sensible layout and not busy trying to be clever. As ever a great video and keep up the good work!
41:40 (the end)... ;-) This boat is definitely dream boat material. I'd do a few things differently, e.g. a different color scheme (more warm colors, like honey colored wood etc.), more power on the engines (but set them up as hybrid), plus my remarks from the other comments I wrote. What I was missing from the vid is the capacity of the house batteries. With 3+ kWp of PV, you should need neither shore power nor the generator, especially if the boath has been sitting there for a while drawing little power. Any idea how it sails, e.g. compared to an Outremer 5X? Great video!
I don't understand why in-boom systems are not more popular. In-mast changes the weight and handling characteristics. Booms have carried sails for a day or two; allowing that to continue with the added benefit of one-touch furling just makes so much sense. Mechanical problems? All boats have them. Would you rather be working on the coach roof or in a bosun's chair 60' above the deck?
OK, I just have to give Rico credit for this, on the Princess seat, Victoria did not want to sit down as they were wet, Rico mentioned that we do not wish for any wet shorts action in the video, what he meant to say was that Victoria is so darn sweet that she would have melted had she sat on the wet seat.
Rico and victoria, it was a very nice cat but I still prefer the power cats. And if I remember correctly, the one that you showed a while back had the forward door. Wasn't it a horizon?
Thanks for the tour! I like the offerings of this boat. I agree - too many pillows! 🙂. I noticed an abundance of small fans throughout the boat. Does the HVAC system have a return to recirculate the air?
Seems like a well-rounded comfy cruise. While I usually like shallow-draft boats in theory, but if you're going to go bluewater cruise the 2m draft may add some stability against surface chop.
Rico would be my advisor but I would probably have to go with a CdM Flexplorer because Bering wouldn't build what I wanted, or I'd get a 125' Bering and a 25M Lynx or Atalia toy carrier. Basically I want to put a 35' Freeman fishing boat on the back of my yacht and some ATV's or a modified Bering 38 Catamaran
@@NautiStyles its just too much boat for me, I'm single and I'd rather have a smaller boat. If I had a wife and kids this boat would be perfect for cruising.
24:15 what I'm missing for a cruising-ready cat is still a bit of "infrastructure" (I can't remember the English term for the pot holders) on the stove. Yes, as a cat it will roll less but it's far from non-moving. On a long passage, you'll want something to keep your pots in place. (Ok, a silicon mat on the induction stovetop might do the trick as well)

This is a perfect family boat. Always have liked Leopards. More than enough room for two teenagers.
Most definitely! Room for the whole family!
Leopards are falling apart
My dream boat is a Leopard 58 and this layout is exactly how id do it if i could afford $1.6 million. Great review.
Rico is so lucky. Victoria is absolutely beautiful and just down to earth. Rico is awesome.
Thanks a lot

Big Leopard wow. She's a beautiful boat for sure. It has checked basically all my boxes, 8.5 out of 10 anchors is my score very well presented
Glad you liked this one!!
I love the colours and patterns of the soft fabrics. Looks like a great space for a family to live aboard.
Most definitely!! 🙌
A very good description of this boat .thanx victoria and rico for another good tour 😊

The solar setup alone is worth it. I can’t believe how off-grid capable that yacht is now. It’s basically a floating luxury home.
Good Saturday Everyone. Hi Victoria & Rico.
Good morning! Welcome back! 🙌
Thank you for the catamaran. It's like you were reading my mind. 😻💖
You're welcome 😊
I love catamaran videos!

Well said.... however if you needed a survivor platform and sh#t hit the fan, you could make worse choices
I have never been a fan of catamarans. However, this boat would be the exception that proves my rule.
I love your top, Victoria. The back is so flattering. ❤️

Yep, boom furling is awesome
In boom or in mast are trouble areas, best is slab reefing, if the other two jam in a blow the only way to reef is a knife to the sail

my time in the Aux. Coast Guard taught me to never have LPG on another boat. It’s great, and safe until it isn’t.

What the coast guard clearly never taught you, and what 90% of offshore sailors know is this, turn the gas off at the bottle when you are done with it
