    My mother made the best Barm Brack. Her recipe is almost identical to yours so I will have to give this a try. The one thing she added was a shredded apple to add just a little more moisture. I love BB with a cup of tea in the evening, especially when it is snowing here in Calgary (big soft fluffy snowflakes falling all day today).

      Yeah this is my favourite type of bread for a mug of tea. Hopefully it will come close to what your mother used to make. Hopefully you will tell me how it works out for you. 👍

      @@MarksHomeKitchen I just bought the ingredients to make the Barm Brack for a St, Patrick's lunch on Sunday. I have used your recipe many times since I first saw it and I really like it except I substitute dried cherries for glace cherries and I add a shredded apple at the end like my mother did. Can't wait until Sunday to have it with our family lunch. I hope you have a great St. Patrick's Day.

    What tea do you consider dark tea? I'm in Texas. is your mixed spice what we call allspice?

    • @MarksHomeKitchen
      @MarksHomeKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually just make my tea using a tea bag or two depending on how strong you like it but no milk . No all spice is just 1 spice whereas mixed spice is a mixture of spices such as cinnamon,clove, ginger, nutmeg etc.

      Hi Mike. We can buy it in jars in Ireland but if you cant buy it where you are, you can make your own or use allspice. The ingredients for making it yourself are
      INGREDIENTS
      1 tablespoon quality ground cinnamon
      2 teaspoons ground allspice
      2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
      1 teaspoon ground cloves
      1 teaspoon ground ginger
      1 teaspoons ground coriander
      3/4 teaspoon ground mace
      Hope this helps
      Mark
