Neither are wrong. That is the beauty of it all. If he is gonna drive it and he likes it like that, then he is correct. If it were her car and she wanted it all black, then it is correct. Being as that many people consider a car an extension of themselves, it should obviously reflect that.

Why did u just remove the spoiler from the car so you can paint in a more controlled area?
I wait a minimum of 30 minutes to spray clear after a base/topcoat. If it's more than 12 hours before I can spray clear, I will wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit then, spray the clear.
I like the sarcastic banter and general leg pulling :-D
Im supprised you didnt clean the red understripe with your acitone to remove overspray, it would look even sharper :-)
zx8401ztv Thanks buddy!! We will be going back with our super fine touch up paint brushes to do that. Don't really like to use a cloth because we don't want the acetone coming in contact with the fresh paint.

I just sprayed a 4runner hood with black Toyota perfect match duplicolor.. got 5 (8oz) cans on it and it still looks like maybe one more can? also it appears to be textured a bit? was wondering if a 1200 wet sand before the 2k clear might be in order? thanks in advance for any advice you may have..
also I really dig the vids.. alot of help and confidence building from them!

I cleared the hood and I sorta fu#ked up! I have the hood off the truck and leaned it against my boat about 2 hours after spraying the 2k and used a microfiber towel as a buffer between the hood and boat. apparently it wasnt dry and the towel stuck to the hood and left some (quite a bit) of fibers in the clear coat (I think they're not very deep.. I put 5 coats on so its relatively thick.. do I just wet sand the fibers out or am I screwed?

I know this video is very old but when I sanded my white spoiler on my 2008 Prius, the edges started looking like a blue color or something like that. I was afraid to sand any further

What does the clear coat do?
protect the paint and shine the paint.

Looks great from what I can tell, and at a minimum, it would be a great improvement if the original clear coat was all messed up.
