I just watched a news story on youtube about a woman who got pregnant at 45 with TRIPLETS (naturally after several rounds of failed IVF) and gave birth to them at 46. All healthy. The news story put up a statistic that said the chances of getting pregnant at 45 is 1 in 100. Is that true? Where do you think they're getting these statistics from? Any idea? No one ever cites the source.
That's remarkable! I don't think it's very clear how the data is gathered. This is why I take it all with a grain of salt. It's clear that chances go down. It's also clear that it happens for some people at this age. So from there I aim to be the outlier and do everything I can to line things up for optimal fertility. I think results vary greatly from person to person. For example I got pregnant three times at age 45, and I wasn't trying every single month.....probably 6 cycles of TTC....which means 50% conception rate and 33% (1 out of 3) were good eggs.
