🤗. I'm not over any of this yet, days later. It's like I got my favorite from my Siren for 2 minutes, I used to go to "You Say" for those low slow notes, still will sometimes, it's a bit lower. Then after those two minutes I got a handful of new favorites from my Siren. The beauty in that voice is nothing I can withstand. Not even close. 😐😮🌹
This version is supreme. I like how she can rasp and through it deliver also a clear tone. And then she uses breath in an interesting manner, like punctuation or ALL CAPS. And how there is a crying in this version, a vulnerability, a naked sadness, especially through the crescendo and then withdrawal/resignation at the end. Most of her fans, including me, love her live performances more than her studio productions in general. But this acoustic, jazzy version is an exception, IMO. It's a Masterpiece & is easily my favorite version of the several other versions that I've heard. When she's in her jazz pocket, she's delicious!
Absolutely nothing to add other than to say this was a SPECTACULAR performance by Angelina and Toby perfectly accompanied her on the keys. In general what is so beautiful about this is that are so many younger people who have never heard anything like this before in their lives. She is going to be solely responsible to bring back jazz to the forefront of music and she will reign as the Queen.
This is an amazing rendition of Bad Valentine and I count the 4th version, which on its own is probably one of the best jazz songs to hit the market in the last 30 yrs. My guess is Angelina will put this song to bed in shoet order with an even more incredible performance. It will be a pattern for many yrs to come ! I think in the end she may go down as the best ever at this pace ! What many don't realize is she is not only a great singer, i think structurally understands jazz inside and out and has amazing instincts for arranging and constructing songs! She literally left me breathless, I love Angie and I am more and more in awe of her unstoppable musical evolution, I would never have expected that at her age she had already reached such a stratospheric level of vocal perfection. What she creates in that indescribable jazz version is absolutely astonishing, even for the apparent ease with which she does it, in fact the instrumental accompaniment is little more than a simple pleasant decoration, her voice alone is enough to reproduce the emotional effect of an entire orchestra. What an extraordinary artist she is becoming, I understand well why Toby is enraptured by her talent, being able to collaborate with a singer like her leaves a boundless space to the imagination, you probably can't even think of what vocal wonders she can achieve.
