I don't think this one in particular is a sports car, but I agree with the reliability. Toyota / Lexus naturally aspirated engines are built like tanks.
I love my IS250. It’s not as fast as a 350, but it’s still plenty fast for me. Are used to drive a 2005 Toyota Corolla so for me the speed difference is quite noticeable, even on the base 250 model. I love it.
I just got a 2010 350...it's crazy fast to me. Hold the traction control off button for around 4 seconds, hold the brake and rev to 2,000rpm, let it go while flooring it and I swear I'm hitting 60mph in 5 seconds. It absolutely leaps across intersections, 0-80 something (whatever the top of 3rd gear is) takes almost no time. Above that it doesn't pull very hard. Maybe manual shifting with an RR Tune would help, letting it rev to 7200rpm i think.
German cars are overrated, overpriced and there's always something malfunctioning. Japanese cars are much more reliable and same goes for some American cars.
I have to agree with you there, but the 2021 refresh kicked things up a notch and now I think it's the best IS. The 2014 + interior beats the 2006-2013 in most areas...except they dropped the expanding door pockets and that seems like quite a useful feature.
Owned a BMW, Mercedes and Lexus before. Through experience, Lexus is so far the only one that does not give us any big problems and maintenance is a lot cheaper of that of a BMW or Mercedes. When a BMW or Mercedes needs repair it'll burn a huge whole in your pocket but Lexus is still reasonable but currently they are just too expensive so going german may be the option.
Drove IS220d for a year. I don't know if its all of them or my specific model but first gear always felt weird. Fuel consumption on mine was 10-12L/100km in the city, which is ridiculously high for such a car. But the biggest flaw is that you cant even fit a snowboard in this car, the openings between trunk and salon is really tiny, and you can't drop the seats. Not a practical car, but quite comfortable for a ride.
We just got an IS350 and yes I would agree with the criticisms about the small back seat and the small and oddly shaped trunk (or boot I suppose if you're British). The dealer actually told us that the reason why Lexus didn't make a folding back seat is for safety reasons. We actually really liked the Audi A4 and Mercedes C300, but we went with Lexus because it's very much comparable to the German cars, but maintenance will be cheaper.
I applaud Lexus for not providing a horrible and unrefined dag dag engine. I much prefer the smooth petrol v6. Europe's obsession with diesels and co2 emissions is really quite tiring, taking into account the incredibly damaging particulates in diesel exhaust. As a cyclist, I curse when seeing every other car drive past me spewing filth into my lungs. But the average car buyer will think "oh my goodness, look at those mpgz and low co2z! must buy!!!"
My GOD REBECCA...i remember when thegetawayer informed all his subscribers and friends on fb about your original channel and we all used to love your little reviews...he made you really popular...and now i watch this... i'm not surprised that he doesn't share these videos with us...
The girl is pretty I came for the girl the car is second. I had owned an '08 IS350 Sport pkg and '11 IS350 F-Sport pkg and now I currently own an '07 IS350 Lux pkg. I miss the sport pkg tho cause they handle better and car feels more agile. I gone through many cars but I ended up keep coming back to Lexus. The interior quality and refinement and detail is just leap and bounds better than any other manufacturers sorry guyz.
No diesel is a problem? If people hadn't been duped and led by inducements of a misinformed government. Why would you want a truck/tractor/generator engine in a vehicle if you really enjoyed driving!
I was driving a 1988 Corsa GT (quite fun of a car) when a friend of mine let me drive one of these. I remember the experience as driving a Ferrari with those behind the wheel gearbox pads. It was the 200 hp petrol engine. Fast car and very confortable. I really miss that experience. Now I'm driving an Alfa Romeo and that's quite an incredible event.
New generation should be coming out in the next year or two. Considering the new styles of the GS and ES, I think the IS will look amazing; can't wait.
Great for people like me that rarely have passengers. Cheaper to maintain than the Euros. The seats and steering wheel are adjustable so did you lower them to the lowest position. Sounds like you may have a European car at home.
I think they deleted it during the editing or something... so it looks like its dissapering.

I totally agree with karuven. Start/stop button is quite useful option. In Toyota/Lexus it comes with keyless entry system. So you can keep the key in your pocket all the time. I have been using Start/Stop with different Toyota's (iQ, Verso, Prius) and no problem so far
Even being unsuited in a english accent sounds better . hahaha. She compared everything about the IS to BMW and Audi except price the IS is less expensive and more reliable than both.
Needs a new diesel version, with option of an automatic gearbox. Just tried the Hybrid version and not impressed, might be okay for LA, but in the Real World and European winding roads you need a Diesel, shame !!!
Great review Rebecca!! :-) My friends had a 2006 IS220d Sport and it wasn't reliable. Always having problems with the engine, which is probably why Lexus ditched it even though it was their best seller of all the engines which seems a bit silly.
I sat in it and felt wonderful! With sand leather it's very lovely(sort of homelike, warm) feeling in the back! And I very like the looks and interior, it doesn't look old :) She said it's very sporty and engine, gearbox are nice... I'm not interested about boot xD
+Cro Tiger well if you have the money for it, by all means..go for it, thats a Super exotic sedan....lol my tiny budget only allowed me too get a IS.😕😕😕..lol ...
Lark Thomas well i dont have budget for maserati neither, its just i have choice to buy lexus now or wait 1 year for maserati (used of course) but both cars are amazing and i think im gonna go for lexus, reliability at first place :)
+Cro Tiger yeah.. can't go wrong with Toyota legendary reliability man, & the IS is a really nice car.. take care of it, it'll definitely take care of you.. for sure..😉😉😉.
Lexus should be ready to release their full new generation line soon after releasing CT, ES, GS and RX. Remaing old models should have a replacement by next year.
I've never heard of a problem with the Start/Stop button. It's a plus because it's neat I guess. Higher luxury brands usually want a cool or unique way of starting up the car (Aston Martin, you insert your "crystal" key into a central slot) and the Start/Stop button is just different from the ordinary key twist. Actually, considering the quality of Hyundai cars, it may be a Sonata problem. The new Sonata with the turbo 4-cylinder has horrendous torque steer I hear.
They just entered the our Brazilian market and based on the price they've been charging and this review, I am really sure Toyota group should try harder.
Perhaps one of the most important aspects f this car is the factor of its price while wile lower than the obvious German competitors can still be beaten by a well equipped cpo c class 3er or A4
Scrubidou lol how is it driving? Im thinking to get the 06 lexus is240 this week.. not sure if its a bit too old. $8500 negotiable. 138km on it. Hoping it can last a good couple years
Mine is an 06 with 150k km, got it for 6800$ (CAD)(was 7500 negotiated it down). This is my second car and I have been driving for 2 years. Make sure to test drive it and if it is in good condition I wouldn't hesitate! The car is so nice to drive. People will say you should get an is350, but if you have never experienced a faster car before the is250 will be plenty fast and exciting to drive. Mine does not feel like a 2006 to drive at all, everything is solid. People don't believe me when I tell them it is a 2006.
Best Car ever.. I have had mine for over 4 years now and its looks and drives brand new every day.. They never get faulty nor dissapoint
It literally got a poor rating on the car test it looks insane half of the car was destroyed

You can't beat it, the reliability you have with these sport cars is unbelievable....
I don't think this one in particular is a sports car, but I agree with the reliability. Toyota / Lexus naturally aspirated engines are built like tanks.
"These days BMW's and Audis are as common Ford's"... Shots were fired lol but true
And they are about as reliable as a Ford! Lol
@@russellgeorge1993 that’s an insult to Ford!

I love my 2010 lexus is250, plenty of power, great gas mileage, looks good, very reliable
Great gas mileage...compared to what, a Range Rover?😂
German cars are overrated, overpriced and there's always something malfunctioning. Japanese cars are much more reliable and same goes for some American cars.

I have to agree with you there, but the 2021 refresh kicked things up a notch and now I think it's the best IS. The 2014 + interior beats the 2006-2013 in most areas...except they dropped the expanding door pockets and that seems like quite a useful feature.
drove a 2012 v6 version and it was absolutely lovely. I agree with the cons though, they are spot on, still is something I would definitely purchase
I have driven this car and its absolutelly awesome.
My Lexus IS man, I've got no words for it, it's Awesome.
I got mine recently, im very happy with it and its so comfortable!

Weirdo.
Looks better than the 2014 IS.
ive waited ages to reviews on lexus cars, couldn't be better
I am gonna buy today and I will tuned it with 2jz swap engine and Exhaust too
Engine, Chassis and Transmission are good. And more important, "Made in Japan". I will take it.
You know what stands out? Lexus is #1 in reliability and quality (JD Power). Merc is #5 and BMW and Audi don't even make the top 10.
Great video, considering buying one of these in an IS250 configuration

A BMW with reliability; Toyota reliability at that. I think I want one.

your best review so far miss Rebecca.Keep up the good work!
Please include prices. That's one key thing missing from these reviews
why did they discontinue the diesel

The seats and steering wheel are adjustable so did you lower them to the lowest position. Sounds like you may have a European car at home.
She can sit "legs akimbo" in my IS250 any day!
I only bought it as a temporary default when I lost my Mercedes to the car finance people. I have never been disappointed`, even though high mileage.
Hi, can you review the new Toyota-Subaru joint developed coupe in the future? Or its too impractical and costly?
I think they deleted it during the editing or something... so it looks like its dissapering.

There was also the IS350 right?

why did you pick the old IS ???
i hope you guys do the 2013 new lexus GS. thanks :)
was it unreliable?
Buying mine tomorrow
Congrats mate, how’s it been?
This is the type of presenter that wants to sell you the car😂 but doesn't have a clue about it. 😂
Lexus website shows an IS200d? Doesn't sound much like a discontinued diesel to me?
hi can you explain about voice command and radar please
Nice shape, looks good.
Needs a new diesel version, with option of an automatic gearbox. Just tried the Hybrid version and not impressed, might be okay for LA, but in the Real World and European winding roads you need a Diesel, shame !!!
anyone notice the car behind disappearing?
Hey! Rebecca pls review the new I-GEN- I20 please. I am about to buy that car and would like to know your opinion on that!
You... DO know that in the UK the steering wheel is on the right AS STANDARD, right?
Great review Rebecca!! :-)
My friends had a 2006 IS220d Sport and it wasn't reliable. Always having problems with the engine, which is probably why Lexus ditched it even though it was their best seller of all the engines which seems a bit silly.
The Japanese makers (especially Toyota) make some great engines, but they all seem to struggle getting diesels right.
Haters gonna hate, but this car is awesome!
make a video on the lexus es
no magic..that car was going straight. This car blindspotted that car for good long time that he went by straight.
Much better review this time round Rebecca, bravo and keep it up. :)
Can you guys please do the hyundai i45/sonata/ whatever it is called in the UK?
There was a car behind at 1:22 and its gone. Ghost car?🤔
Are you talking about the "new" 328i with 4-cylinder, 8 speed gearbox, 23-33mpg? And you are comparing merc c-class with this car?
Never saw this before I got my IS 350, she can come review mine for me. Phew!!!

Lexus IS or Maserati Quattroporte?
Lexus IS..
Lark Thomas i know that lexus wins in reliability but maserati is still nice exotic luxury car with incredible sound its realy hard to decide

on what zustification does your claim stand on?
Does 30 mpg not good enough but the car wins everywhere else

where did the car go that was behind at 1:22?? magic......
You again? I want a review for Citroen DS5 and i hope Mat will receive that great car to drive!
What the time,1:22..?
Ghost is cars,??
For the same amount you wouldn't get a NEW M3, but a new 3 series. Have you seen those on the street yet? I can't seem to find one.
You are telling me the IS350 is not available in the UK??? What a shame..
this car has been around for 5 or 6 years now isnt it a bit late to do a review on it
No words about that this model has been around since 2005, a facelift or new model should come soon or?
Did yall see that car dissapear at 1:17
Lildre 442 yea lol they probably edited it out
2:20 Used To Be A Diesel? Isnt There The IS200d or Am i just plain Dumb?

i think u forgot to mention roughly how much is it...
Soon, soon, the summer is coming.
I'm pretty sure they have a 2.5, 3.5 and the 5.0 liter engines
Well no, the F Sport doesn't have everything you need. There is no manual gearbox option.
They say manual in IS250 does not work very well with that engine. Its much better coupled in IS220d...but who wants a diesel Lexus...
what if you get a popped tire? what then ?
The reliability is not everything but if it drives well too it’s a big plus for this model.
It is for me, and that's exactly why I bought one.
Lexus has no turbo and just too many plastic parts 🙄 in the German cars good for performance Put a total nightmare second-hand
Reliablility is not everything.well yes it is..wtf r u saying.
Always prefer a German car, and German cars should be even more common. I can't get enough of them
Hot heated turbo engine with plastic parts of total nightmare.Staying with Lexus
Lovely Car! But in the UK what do you see on the roads everywhere BMWs!
cult mentality

Great Rebecca! NICE CAR!
@lhrmeonom i meant the IS -F model, which costs the same as an M3 Cabrio, But neither as good nor as sporty as an M3.
whoa. you guys don't get the 3.5 liter? too bad.
Rather have a toyota avensis. Alot cheaper and much more practical, obviously it's not as desirable but the pros outweigh the cons.
