- Happy Sunday my Angels,
We are well and truly into the Summer social season and this week it’s a busy one! For one week a year, the rowing world congregates to Henley on Thames, my home town! Let’s go to Henley Royal Regatta together and show you around! First stop was at Find The Hidden Garden with 8RayMusic and listening to the most talented musicians.
We are then off to The Boodles Tennis at Stoke Park for an afternoon of electric Tennis, delicious Pimm’s and a very naughty afternoon tea!!
Back to Henley Royal Regatta with my nearest and dearest and a whole heap of fun!

Is this par mainly for your social circles because you grew up with a sports figure father, or most British citizens who enjoy sports? I really wanted to go to the regatta in 2023 because I was in England for a wedding but sadly the wedding was the same weekend so I couldn’t go. My husband rowed for Cornell University in NY in the late 60’s. He rowed in a Pocock shell. For those of you who don’t know Pocock , he was an Englishman who made the most amazing fast wooden shells. He made the shell for the Olympic team of 1936 who came out of the University of Washington. These were not boys of privilege . They got the worst lane at the Olympics. Great Britain got the second worst. Rowing in front of Hitler was a huge coup coz the American boys WON! If you haven’t read the book or seen the newly released movie , Boys in the Boat, then please do. My husband said the book perfectly describes how you feel when you row in a Pocock shell. Hopefully I will still make it to the Henley Regatta in the next year or two.
The shell that won the 1936 Olympics sits at the University of Washington. It’s worth seeing.

I am so sorry to hear about your foot and you have kept that quiet. I have bunions inherited from my mother so know what you mean about finding the right shoes for no pain. Hence high heels are kitten heels as they are so much more comfortable.
