Very nice old '61. Still fascinates me that people didn't get AC back in the day, but it was expensive. Unusual to see these with manual windows as well. Beautiful interior.
Thanks for being a good steward to this beauty for the past 18 years. Hopefully, whoever buys it from you will be the same caretaker for it that you've been. So rare to see original "survivors" like this.
What a beauty! Congrats to the proud new owner! They say Cadillac is the Rolls-Royce of automobiles - seriously, this car was built when Cadillac really was still "The Standard of the World"! Sadly, Cadillac is no longer building any car I would care to buy.
Cadillac is back but you wouldn’t know riding around in your toyota celica. The new Cadillacs are back to being the standard of the world , go out and test drive one especially the stick and tell me I’m wrong. Oh a stick is a standard transmission and in Cadillac’s case is a 6 speed standard with a clutch. ❗️🇺🇸
Tell me about it. I have a 2014 CTS AWD Premium edition. Close to $70,000 sticker. Biggest pile of shit I've ever owned. I would NEVER buy another Cadillac ANYTHING!!!
Love how wild Cadillacs looked from 48 to 64, there was nothing else on the road that looked looked like a Cadillac. Love how they embraced this exuberance of style, the Cadillac man wanted the best and to let everybody else know he had arrived. The crazy fins(4 fins!!!) On this car are epic, but what really stands out IMO is how original this car is, how well it was built to still look this good 60 years later. And who doesnt love pink??? Perfect color for this car/era
The minute you start driving it though the seats will rip and you'll get the foam crumbling piles up underneath so there's no cheap way out and if it doesn't have air-conditioning and you drive down the road your headliner will rip because the threads dry-rotted and that's just the way that goes

I was fortunate enough to afford my first and only Cadillac back in 1997. It was a 1978 Eldorado that I fell in love with but unfortunately had to sell in 1999 due to money problems. Taking care of family always comes first. It is now 22 years later and I haven't been able to buy another Cadillac. I'm now nearly 66 with health issues and just can't afford one. Cadillacs are the only cars I've ever really liked even as a younger man when my friends wanted hot rods I was in love with road boats. The bigger the better and the fins...gotta have tail fins! Well it doesn't look like I'll ever have another Cadillac. It's the only nice thing I've ever wanted for myself. I hope this new owner takes good care of that beautiful car.
Man I wish I would have seen this car before it sold. What a beautiful car. I just love these early 60s Cadillacs. Nice you kept it original and knew the story of the car from the beginning. Was a pleasure just to watch the video and know this one is still out there. I hope the new owner will keep it all original and keep it in good care. Very nice!
What a beauty! 🥰 I've always preferred the '61 over the '59 & '60, though loved the '58 juuust that little bit more than the '61. I'm sure cruising along in her must be like a magic carpet ride... 😊👍

So they traded a constantly breaking Vauxhall, even-Steven, for a 1962 Cadillac, 4-door, 4-barrel 390, 4-speed Roto-Hydromatic, and I got to drive it to university. That radio was Wunderbar!

What an absolutely beautiful car!! This was back when Cadillac was the true global leader in automotive perfection!! The original owner is not rolling in his grave and would be very happy with the care his car has seen!!!!
Reminds me a bit of the old 60's Caddy my stepdad had. But his was very used and abused in the 15 years before he bought it, and we never could get the strong smell of Bourbon out of the car. We drove it to church and would arrive reeking of liquor even though our family never drank. LOL The car was originally blue but the paint flaked off so the roof of the car rusted. When stepdad had to register the car for parking privileges at his job, he listed the color as "blue on the bottom, rust on the top" and everyone thought that was very funny because that car really was noticeable. I still kinda miss that car; it was very comfy (although always smelly). Happy memory.
What a beautiful car! I like a good restoration, but you just can't beat the cool factor of an original gem like that. Power seats but no power windows.
My mother had the came Cadillac. Never a {4} door; always {2} door. From what I can remember. Great car lucky man! One thing about this car, even someone who doesn't know car's, know it's a Caddy !
Gorgeous! My friends dad had a 65 when we were kids and we could burn rubber in that thing a block long. The smoke from the tires was so thick that you couldn’t see the car blasting up the street! Insane.
Crank windows? Really? My parents had a fully loaded '61 Coupe DeVille with MUCH nicer leather-trimmed embroidery-style upholstery. Still, it's impressive that this example has survived in such nice shape all these years. Love the exterior color!
Series 62 was the base model or economy version of Cadillac. The power windows were optional. Back in 1961 I guess, people figured if you had air conditioning you would never need to roll down the windows!
that was my first thought too - I thought by the late 50s power windows were standard. To have A/C and power seats, but roller windows was pretty surprising to me.
Absolutely beautiful Automobile Detroit will never build cars like this in my lifetime. As nice as people think modern cars are, they fall apart. So did it find a new home?
This was the same exact car my father owned who was rather a mystery to me having disappeared earlier in my life. Interesting to see this car here and same exact color too.
Just gorgeous the way she presents herself!! I mean what a survivor automobile! I venture to say ( the paint appears ) to be driver quality.. a pro could perform a nice paint correction process… Well, you’ve been a good custodian of this Cadillac!
I believe the Beautiful color Mystic Lavender is the reason why this yacht is still rolling,,The 1st owners were the Best thing to happen for this ride.
The 1962 Cadillac was the update of the 61 .... I liked it better...fins were lowered .... truck was beveled giving it a better look....also 1962 was 1st year for the cornering light ....another signature feature on Caddy's for years afterwards... I liked those...Ford and Chrysler never bothered with those until the late 60's......
No Bluetooth? No computers to go haywire? No backup camera? No plastic bumpers, no lane-change warnings and dinging noises to tell you when you are doing something wrong? And no video screen! How did people in the dark ages manage to survive their drive to work!?
😍OMG😍 Now this is what a *proper* 💎Cadillac💎 looks like. Not trying to look like everything else. If I had money I'd buy that car in an instant, whatever condition it's in!
It looked like to me a "short deck" Series 62. Originally designed to be parkable in Manhattan garages where the regular Cadillacs would not fit into the spaces. Really cool car.
No, those models you are referring to were called "Park Avenues" and they had script on the side of the rear fender at the end spelling that out quite clearly. I believe they were first introduced in the 1962 model year. Of course, that name was eventually used on the Buick much later in the century. These 1961s were 14" shorter than the 1960s, and the Park Avenues were even shorter. Very few PAs were produced. I've only seen two.
An absolute beauty! Personally I don't think there was any better car than the 1955 - 1963 Cadillacs. I would love to have one but it wouldn't fit in my garage. I hope it goes to a great home!
cant believe the aeriel is perfectly upright. I must have changed over those aeriels monthly in the 80s. Even light breathing would bend them. beautiful car
That is a series 62 sedan, which was Cadillacs name for their entry level series from,I believe,1951 until 1964.In 1965 they began calling their lowest priced models the Calais. This one has manually cranked windows, which may come as a surprise to younger viewers, who are accustomed to seeing electric window lifts on all but the lowest priced models today. It is in amazing original condition - Great find 👍👍👍
Never understood why people think they can just ignore using a car’s accessories like the AC... if you had just used it for 15 minutes each week it would still most likely be fully functional. Same goes for brake fluid and worst of all radiator coolant. Ugh. Many gorgeous cars ruined because people think it’s all about the miles and forget about the time. Nice car tho
You're definitely right about the AC system. That compressor needs to move and stay lubricated. The problem becomes if the compressor got trashed at some point. You really need to change all of it. Condenser evaporator all the tubing and the compressor and the dryer. If the compressor failed mechanically there's very likely to be metallic trash all through the system. Put a new compressor on it a week later you're going to be buying another new compressor. If the evaporator is extremely difficult or expensive to get to you might risk doing a very thorough flush but the rest of it really needs to be eliminated.
That's not true at all in the case of like the Ford Thunderbirds of that era there's vacuum hoses that operate all the plenems and they dry rot and when they do you don't have any AC no matter how much you use it
This has obviously been a stored car. It’s not practical to start it up once a week when it’s being stored. Once a month running it is hard enough, Mark is not the average dumb schnook who knows nothing about cars. It’s dumb to think he is.
I would love this, I love the Series 62 models. I had two de Villes, a '64 convertible, and a '64 six window sedan. Also, a '66 Fleetwood Brougham, and a '79 Fleetwood Brougham. I hope the new owner of this one cherishes it.
There was a story years ago about a kid on a bicycle who was not paying attention and rode right into the back fin on a parked 1961 Cadillac. I think he lived, but being impaled on one of those fins could have easily killed him. Beautiful automobile. I want it.
A car from a time when America built the best looking cars in the world, no other country could even come close ( maybe a few British cars, a country where I come from ).
Amazing how cheap cars were in 1961. Base prices -- without a radio or heater -- started at $4,892 for the coupe, the only Cadillac that listed for under $5,000. Also available were a convertible and four- and six-window four-doors, including a most unusual "short-deck" sedan.
Sorry I missed out on this beauty. The location of the car when it was for sale by Mark Everson looks like upstate NY. Where was the car at the time this video was created? I used to live seasonally in Old Forge, NY (50 miles north of Utica). T.I.A.
this is a beautiful car...you should try to contact rick from national parts depot in ocala florida...he and his father collects low mileage original cars like this....they might be very interested in it.....
When I see a car like this for some reason it reminds me of Driving Miss Daisy. Miss Daisy..."Did you have the air condition checked? I told you to have the air condition checked". Hoke..."Yes, 'em, I had the air condition checked. I don't know what for, you don't never allow me to turn it on". Miss Daisy...."Hush Up".
Its beautiful....but Im curious. Does it run on unleaded gasoline as built, or did you have to convert it in some way ? Hope the new owner prizes it as well.
New owner must be pleased - love the 61 rear end, probably my favorite year - and this is 'the' color. Everyone here knocking the crank windows, but this is a Sixty-Two, and it's important to remember base models. Certainly more rare than a deVille. Couple years ago guy had a 61 Fleetwood for sale in the car corral of a local auto show. I was admiring, my brother was scoffing, and although the price was higher than I wanted to spend for a weekend car, it very nice - left to see the show - told my brother it would be sold when we left, and indeed it was. Just not to me - MCM 50's house, no garage & an enclosed space near me is 500/month for God's sake. Eventually I will move - seriously.
It's crazy to think about but my folks had a 61 convertible and in 78 when I started driving I didn't want to be seen in it, not to mention I couldn't afford to keep gas in it, my buddy got stuck with a 59 Cadillac and he felt the same way , I sold mine for $200 and bought a 68 Camaro for $1200 👍
I find it comical when people make negative comments. Like, too bad it’s a four door, no power windows, etc. Makes me wonder what they have in their garage!
This just now came across my feed. Sold, darn it! If you ever come across another similar low mileage car(doesn’t have to be a Cadillac) at a reasonable price, I hope I see it sooner!!0

@@new2000car of course it's stored compare the patina on my car that's been stored since 1980.th-cam.com/video/y-t1A3LXugU/w-d-xo.html
I would love this, I love the Series 62 models. I had two de Villes, a '64 convertible, and a '64 six window sedan. Also, a '66 Fleetwood Brougham, and a '79 Fleetwood Brougham. I hope the new owner of this one cherishes it.
The '66 Fleetwood Brougham, with leather, fold-down, rear tables and genuine wood trim really was an American Rolls-Royce!
Gorgeous
they dont maje them like that anymore.beautiful!
There was a story years ago about a kid on a bicycle who was not paying attention and rode right into the back fin on a parked 1961 Cadillac. I think he lived, but being impaled on one of those fins could have easily killed him. Beautiful automobile. I want it.
so nice, so simple, so beautiful. happy newly weds!
What a beauty!
A car from a time when America built the best looking cars in the world, no other country could even come close ( maybe a few British cars, a country where I come from ).
It's back when designers had more say than engineers
Amazing how cheap cars were in 1961. Base prices -- without a radio or heater -- started at $4,892 for the coupe, the only Cadillac that listed for under $5,000. Also available were a convertible and four- and six-window four-doors, including a most unusual "short-deck" sedan.
But.....adjusted for inflation that would be $50,000 today, about what a new Cadillac would cost.
This is the car I learned to drive with. Only in black.
NICE CADILLAC....PURE GM POWER
I have had 26 Cadillacs 61 is my favorite year
That big Sherman needs lots and lots of power!
If the radio still plays all the 60s music and commercials..... I’ll take it!
Sounds great.
Gorgeous Land Yacht.....
Sorry I missed out on this beauty. The location of the car when it was for sale by Mark Everson looks like upstate NY. Where was the car at the time this video was created? I used to live seasonally in Old Forge, NY (50 miles north of Utica). T.I.A.
Торчу от американских монстров дорог,очень красивые машины!
this is a beautiful car...you should try to contact rick from national parts depot in ocala florida...he and his father collects low mileage original cars like this....they might be very interested in it.....
Beautiful Cadillac Sedan de Ville🚗...new owner must be happy? 😃🙌🏼
We have kept in touch. He loves the car! He is a fantastic caretaker of it!
When America was Great and a Cadillac was a Cadillac.
I always wonder if this car was a stock car on the lot or was it ordered
I just hope he sells it to someone who will keep it just like it is ❗️🇺🇸
Why do you have the front exposed to sunlight?
Why they used to make so thin steering wheels?
Exactly. Why not.
Its a luxury cruiser. Not a sports car like a BMW.
What a time capsule!!
Thanks for your comment! It really was a time capsule!
Beautiful! But I can’t Imagine parallel parking that 😩🤣
I’d like to see mine! AlsoI’d like to know what they really called the color. I call it rose gold.
The count would go nuts for this car Counting Cars
Beautiful car sir.
a very nice clean car. my dream.
Gorgeous 61. 61 and 62 have Skaggs! ❤
If I had the money I would always buy a classic car. This car still has a million miles on it
It's crazy to think about but my folks had a 61 convertible and in 78 when I started driving I didn't want to be seen in it, not to mention I couldn't afford to keep gas in it, my buddy got stuck with a 59 Cadillac and he felt the same way , I sold mine for $200 and bought a 68 Camaro for $1200 👍
Splendid car.
