    Lol I was at the purple seahorse earlier today, was not expecting to see kai and his tank on TH-cam. He definitely knows his stuff and actively helps the local reefing community

    A very nice set up. I had a corner bow in my freshwater days and really enjoyed it. I like how the tank is suspended and equally like his filtration room in the back. .

    Very nice. Love the clean look. Corner tanks are really an underrated shape in the aquarium hobby. They’re probably the best shape for smaller rooms and when done right have a bit of a wow factor when people see them. Best thing is they are well viewed from anywhere in the room. The only cons are the shape when it comes to lighting, some equipment, and the wrong fish will never stop fighting because it can be difficult to break the line of sight. Although this tank does a great job at that.

    Now that is a slick looking setup. Never was a fan of curved tanks but man it sure does work in that space as a floating tank. Did want to know what he was doing (if anything) about the aiptasia popping up in there (sorry, but whenever I see it in tanks I get cold sweats, I seriously think I have PTSD when it comes to it)

    I have this same tank. Currently starting up a system that will be optimal for reef / coral growth. I struggle to know the correct lights to start with... Since it's my 1st reef tank! There's a significant depth to this size tank and my concern will be ensuring that there is a proper light absorption throughout! My tank as well has the traditional hood lighting/tube bulb ballast under the lid. Any suggestions would be great and much appreciated

    Seems like his UV might be mounted sub-optimally. It looks like it'd be prone to having an air bubble at the top of the tube (reducing its efficiency) as per th-cam.com/video/SAiEg3akGRI/w-d-xo.html

      Yeah that plug that was crammed right next to the holes that the pipes went through gave me the shivers. Not sure if that's an emergency "I need to plug something in" plug or what, it also looked very odd being right in the corner too, so maybe it's not what it seems.

    Noob here: why would we want a skimmer be set to vent. Wouldn’t we always want to skim?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He just did a bunch of maintenance on the tank so something got it a bit excited. It is normally skimming. some additives will make it go nuts to for a bit. so it was a temp setup until it goes back to normal.

    • @vincentjames1995
      @vincentjames1995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could still be protected with a gfci plug. Depending on it's placement, you only need one gfci per circuit
