honestly i would be pissed at tommy too. he is living his best life while joel was worried sick and because he cares so much about his brother and hasn't heard from him in 3 weeks, went on a mission to find him which also got tess killed. it is implied that they stayed in contact regularly but then tommy finds a nice place to stay and completely cuts joel off without a warning!? not even a last message of "I'm fine don't come for me!" like ok the community he lives in now is careful but sure he could have at least told joel not to look for him if he had to cut communication!? even before the apocalypse it was implied that joel was always there to pick tommy up. when he got the call to bail him out of jail the conversation clearly stated that wasn't the first time joel helped tommy out of trouble. when tommy said "thanks for still giving a shit about me" was weird because that's all joel seems to do. taking care of tommy. the feelings don't seem to run both ways. so honestly i get why joel was extra closed off and a little pissed at tommy. sorry for the rant lol great reaction as always tho ❤️
The acting coming from Pedro and Bella in this episode in particular is amazing! So many feels😢 When Joel is talking to Tommy about how he's "failing in my sleep" really hit home how scared and how much he does indeed care for Ellie. Great episode Rae, thanks so much! Really enjoying your reaction videos🙂
Elaine Miles, playing the wife in that cabin couple, was in a very good show called Northern Exposure. The husband, Graham Greene, appeared in that show as well, but is more famous for his various movie roles including Dances with Wolves, The Green Mile, and Maverick.
Can we just talk about how because he stayed up in episode 4 to keep watch in that forest, he was too tired by the end and slept like a log and didn't hear Henry and Sam come in? And now he's mortified of "failing in his sleep"? Then he falls asleep again this episode and feels like he failed her? Then now we know he's dreaming abt Sarah like every night and is absolutely horrified of sleeping at all? GIVE THE POOR MAN A GOOD NIGHT'S REST FOR THE LOVE OF GOD 😢
also remember, he suffers some hearing loss from his right ear. The side he slept on the night Sam and Henry came in, he had his left ear (the good ear) on the pillow, which meant he could only hear from his right ear (the bad ear). That explains why he didn't hear the footsteps on the glass. While he was tired, i think his instinct might've kicked in if he would've been able to hear better
so 2 things. the editing on these reactions is extremely enjoyable so props to whomever is in charge of that. 2nd this girl is incredibly cute so props to her.
The only change I've noticed in Ellie's character is that she's more comfortable with Joel and is acting a bit warmer towards him now that they've spent 3 months together
I think Joel at the beginning is a bit pissed at Jackson. He did a dangerous mission to get a battery to save Tommy, and because of that, Tess died. When he gets to the town and sees how good they have it, he realizes that Tess' death is kinda for no reason. I think that's why he is a bit put-off to start. Also, he blames Maria for not allowing Tommy to communicate and causing his radio silence that led to Tess' death
i probably know the real reason he pulled it out. in the Game he fell from the first floor and landed on rubble and got impaled a Metal pole and ellie had to lift him off the Pole so to get the same result of Bleeding out he had to pull the Baseball bat out
You’re supposed to leave it in if you have the ability to remain still. If you have to run (like they did) the wood would do more damage remaining in the body so it’s best to remove it.
Also, the “don’t remove the stabbing object” advice is meant for modern humans with imminent access to better, professional medical care. Not for apocalypse survivors who immediately need to escape on horseback AND have no guarantee of high-quality medical care elsewhere.
This is the most vulnerable we’ve seen from both Joel and Ellie yet. We know watching from Joel the desperation to close himself off to preserve whatever humanity he doesn’t want to lose yet and him breaking down in front of Tommy is indicative of how much he’s barely keeping it together, how this dam he built up for himself is breaking apart the more he gets closer to his new surrogate daughter. Ellie, on the other hand, is a whole different kettle of fish. This is where her abandonment issues begin to boil over the more she loses her innocence; between being orphaned by her parents, being pawned off by Marlene, losing Riley, Tess, Henry and Sam, now she has to watch her father figure pawn her off and abandon her too? This girl can’t catch a damn break; it breaks my heart when she repeatedly tells him “Don’t leave me alone”.
Yeah the acting was top notch in this ep. The way Pedro's voice cracks when he says "I've lost Something" and "They'll shoot her" broke me. I'm glad you picked up when Joel asked Maria to leave so he could have a moment with "family" he wasn't asking Ellie to leave. Also when Joel tells Ellie what to dream about he combined their dreams. He full on sees Ellie as family (kin) at this point, that's why he started having the panic attacks. He just needed the fights with Tommy/Ellie to realize it. Also, remember the dog in the first ep knew something was up with Nana so it makes sense if you don't have access to the FEDRA tester you could use dogs to sniff it out. Either they are not as accurate or maybe because it's been so long since she was bit the dog didn't pick it up. Even though they tried to build up the tension there I was never worried because they had no way out if the dog picked it up so I knew it wouldn't.
Dogs pick up sickness, not actual blood antibodies like an electronic tester would. She's infected but completely healthy, hence the dog wouldn't be able to tell.
Please for the love of Last of Us never look anything up online about this show lol 😅 Because the games exist, there are some huge spoilers out there, and unfortunately also people who love to spoil things. It's best to just play it safe!
I think the dog in the first episode, named mercy I think, could also sense the infection on the old lady in the wheelchair. So I’m assuming all or most dogs can do it💜💜
7:53 The Brothers Miller. I want so badly to see a Game/TV Show about Joel & Tommy's adventures from the Murder of Sarah until the time jump of 20 years later. Who is with me?

It was one of my favorite things about the game that was downloadable content story-wise! 🥰
Bella was sensational here... Yhat scene was beautiful and her pronunciation was on yop form.. gkn amazin...word for word from yhe game but Bella hammered those words in
What I can say is: y'all will need a lot of willpower to endure this whole show to the end. So stay strong, whatever happens. Also, if it doesnt make any sense AT ALL, it will be explained much later (maybe one or two IRL years later). The big deal about this game is you will either love or hate it, there's almost zero middle ground.
Lol I KNOW I go through the tag and usually don't see anything - people are fairly good at keeping things aloof or putting a spoiler warning but yeah if I see even just a word slightly out of the ordinary I'm scrolling that shit

love your reaction and your editing, I'd just suggest you keep your picture larger when showing scenes. not only because it's the point of a reaction video but also because it helps prevent copyright strikes
yeah the ending of the episode wasnt great, it was actually poorly done, sure it smore realistic but it takes away all the emotion in that scene completely, idk if their intention was to draw apathy from their audiences but they go it
I can sense the ignorance even through anonymity. Apathy? Lmao biggest show on tv from both critics and fans. The game is always there to play bud it wasn't wiped from existence. Love people who have watched a few youtube videos on cinema thinking they can do better than professionals - it's always hilarious. Please, I'm dying to hear you use the word "pacing" so I can complete my bingo card.
??? Took away all the emotion? Dude it was devastating. Not one reactor so far in the dozens I've seen has shown apathy at this scene including everybodylovesrae. I guess there are always the exceptions though.
What he means is Ellie's part was cut to 1/8 of what it was in the game. She fought half a dozen man entirely by herself, moved only by the will to save Joel. The action in both Joel's perspective and the later rescue was much less intense in the sake of "realism"...
Joel's monologue to Tommy was mostly scripted, but Pedro improvised the "I'm failing in my sleep" part, which amazes me because it makes sense with the rest of his fears and what he's going through. The argument scene between Joel and Ellie is a near 1:1 recreation from the game, right down to the wallpaper on the walls. It's also by and large the most iconic scene of the game/the one that sticks with people the most when they play. I don't have much else to say, other than bring tissues for the next episode and buckle up for when episodes 8 and 9 roll around, because "emotional rollercoaster" does not even begin to describe what's about to go down. 🫠

Stab 101 is not to remove the piece. He is screwed regardless because galloping on a horse with a shunt of wood in your guts is as bad if not worse.
