Griftlands blew my mind, I love how all the systems synergise. Actually finding it hard to play anything else rn.

Great video. I hope more people learn about this game. I think the best roguelike deckbuilders that create a standard on its own are this, Slay the Spire and Monster Train.
Apart from that you didn't talk about the bog 'mechanic' in Rook campaign, I suppose you leave this so a new player discovers it.

I am pretty sure that there are a bunch of mechanics that I didn't talk about. You just can't include all of them, the video is more than an hour long as it is :D

I don't agree on the part of randomness. It's much less random than other games of the genres, by having some fixed choices each day, that results at a fixed drop.

You're supposed to pay off the friend so that they don't also fight you(or have randomly gotten a pet). Still pretty ridicules given that no other quest in game requires you to spend money.
Shel's Adventure is just supposed to be a tool for people to learn about modding the game, so you judged it a bit unfairly here.

I am not sure if I had enough money to pay the friend off. I think it was 100 gold? Maybe I am wrong though.
I didn't know that about Shel's Adventure. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I can't see any deep analysis in the 'Negatives' section. Why are there still so many people playing Slay the Spire every day, while Griftlands is almost forgotten? The inclusion of two sets of card decks and other new mechanics, whether they are good or not, is an interesting aspect to consider.

Griftlands being great doesn't take away from Slay the Spire's greatness-both games are fantastic in their own right, and people are more than valid for sticking with Slay the Spire. I think a big part of this is simply that Slay the Spire came first. By the time Griftlands was released, people had already been playing StS for 2.5 years and naturally stuck with what they knew. Another reason is that Griftlands simply went unnoticed by many. Maybe they gladly would play it, but a huge number of people have never even heard of it and don’t know it exists.

@@napstacube If Griftland is such a great game, how can it go unnoticed when its developer, Klei, is practically one of the most renowned developers and publishers in the world? Griftland has already sold more copies than expected. It's not bad, definitely worth the price. With a median playtime of 8 hours, I guess most people just play for a couple of hours, find it not as captivating as it could be, and give up. Selling 400k units is seriously impressive for any indie game. And as someone who's truly passionate about Griftland, making so many videos on it, why not dive deeper into it? Like the deck-building aspect, or comparing its RPG elements to a traditional RPG game or even to other STS-style games like Chrono Ark.

@@a_year_to_live something i hear often is that a run takes too long for what you'd expect from a rougelite deckbuilder, and to be fair it can be quite frustrating to lose a run after spending several hours on it. Probably not the sole reason, but it might be a major one.

      i don't think that's the point,it's a little longer, not much
