For what's worth, while I greatly appreciate the videos of the massive organs Jonathan often plays, my favorite videos are like this one, a beautifully voiced smaller instrument with Jonathan playing organ literature appropriate for the instrument and setting. This brief video is, in my opinion, a gem.
Probably my favourite Chorale Prelude, not just of Bach, but of any. I always find time to play this at each of my two churches during Passiontide. The melody and harmonisation in those final couple of bars defy adequate description. The picture they paint absolutely gets you right where it hurts. Wonderful performance too.
Thanks my Dear Brothers for sharing such an special occasion Thanks Jonathan for your deeply moving musical interpretation. And last but not least, thanks Tom for the luminous takes of the religious scenes. All best Dear Brothers
Jonathan's beautifully played performance conveys the intense anguish expressed in the Chorale. Stunning video as well, especially the window and mirror views. What an honor to be allowed to play such a historic instrument. Thank you for sharing. 💐💐🎹🎶
This piece is beautiful. Very emotional, and ideal to play at the occasional religious event (communions, etc.). Beautiful performance on a wonderful organ, thank you Jonathan!
This is one of my favorite pieces from the Orgelbüchlein. And to hear it played so well on this marvelous instrument. What a great way to start my day! Thanks for posting this.
Beautiful voicing and sensitive playing, thanks to Jonathan and Tom ...and whoever gave them the key to St Nikolaus church. A word of thanks and remembrance also to the builder and all those who looked after this instrument for the past 300 yrs.
How lovely that you were given access to this Charming 1750's Instrument ! A lovely rendition of BWV 622 Jonathan. Nice Atmospheric visuals Tom. Thank you both !
A beautiful rendition of a favorite Bach piece. Note how Tom framed Johnathan with the St. Cecilia window shining behind him. (Also, this is the first time I've heard of a formerly electrified organ being put back into its original mechanical condition). From Chicago, U.S.A.
