    Finally a British builder have watched loads of Asian & American & even a Cuban builder
    But now You! I’ve been in the process of moving & in doing so I’ve come across a load of speakers from my days as a Disc Jockey
    When we built all our speakers primarily to fit the van
    So I’m going to sit back & enjoy & learn again & I’ve done all the Sub & 👍

      Yes totally understandable
      What's the building time for a pair of those cubes

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the time is waiting for paint and glue to dry between coats so, not including this probably 8-10hours but many more if you include the hanging around!!

    I have two of these drivers so I’m going to do your build. Do they need baffle step correction? Lovely build and great vids thank you

      @DIY-AUDIO  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Martin, I didn't but guessing you could add a simple baffle step, a few have said it would be wise to do so. Good luck with your build!

    Watched a few videos now and you have some really nice builds here but please give a overview of what the design goals are (who and what the speaker is for) and how you came up with each design and some sort of assessment on if you achieved those goals.
    What is the intended use? Is it considered full range? Whats the F3? Are you using a notch or BSC filter? In other words why am I watching this aside from the build montage and seeing the finished (admittedly sexy) result?

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thanks for the comments Phillip. It's certainly something I will possibly consider for the next one. My pleasure at the moment is actually just building a speaker that I like to look at in my house. (hence nothing massive as I don't have big rooms). To my 50 year ears they all sound good but I understand that people may want to know know a little more technical information. My main motivation has been to just to inspire different looking builds that anyone can have a go at and, to have a good finish that your wife is happy to have in the home but, I do understand where you are coming from. Keep an eye out!

      @@DIY-AUDIO I think everyone in this hobby approaches builds differently. Personally I'm looking for something functional (sounds good) as well as something that looks good the space it will reside, so aesthetics count too.
      I'm definitely ok with making compromises either way but not knowing anything about how it will perform makes me loose interest pretty quick.

    The cubic shape is a bad idea for a speaker enclosure in general. The cubic-shaped speaker will have a lot of peaks on its frequency response diagram because of the addition of internal standing waves.

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to build the best acoustically sounding speaker you would likely be wanting to build a huge rectangular cabinet however when space / appearance / design is important then long the 'perfect' sound slightly will be worth it especially when the human hears don't record or register the complete frequency range?

    • @YouBrickChannel
      @YouBrickChannel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIY-AUDIO, of course, it is obvious that appearance was the most important thing for this project, but your subscribers should know the price. For example, a cubic enclosure with internal dimensions 200x200x200mm most likely will have perfectly audible by human ear resonant peaks at 858Hz, 1720Hz, 2570Hz, 3430Hz, 4290Hz, 5140Hz, 6000Hz, 6860Hz, 7740Hz. But for a 'golden ratio' 324x124x200mm enclosure of the same volume, the internal standing waves will form only 1 smaller resonant peak around 4250Hz and for a 226x177x200mm enclosure which is almost a cube visually, there will be none of them. As to the huge rectangular cabinet, a huge volume is not required for Vas=3.34, Fs=84.22, and Qts=0.71. Something around 20L should be enough and will provide a more flat frequency response and the cutoff frequency around 40Hz compared to 60Hz of the present 8L volume.
