I once went to the Renaissance fair dressed up as howl Pendragon and that was the best experience ive ever had. People are so nice and i got called lord Pendragon alot by the workers
Went to a Renn Faire last year as Tink and someone randomly gave me a tiny jewel like it was some sort of secret thing. I had no idea what was going on but i loved it!
I’m so glad one of your tips was a shout out to go to shows!! People put so much creativity and passion into their acts, so we definitely want to give them some love (and big tips)! Anyway now I will be waiting in excited anticipation for our next faire adventure.
I wanna cosplay at my next Ren Faire,but the last time I went was a disaster. I'm a minor, and last year, I got lots of uncomfortable comments about my chest from creepy old men. So, I'm hesitant to dress up at all this year. Even if my outfit plans are more masculine leaning than last year. (I go once a week while my local Faire is running, so I make outfit plans in advance) and if you're curious,as of now I plan to dress as Howl Pendragon and a Knight.
two other tips. Bring sunscreen and reapply . A bad sunburn can ruin a faire experience. Stay hydrated, if possible, keep a container for your water on you. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are real things.
Great video; I hope to get to go to a renaissance festival someday; could you please provide some outfit building advice. For example, what clothing pieces would you use to build a good renaissance outfit.
opening weekend starts tomorrow in az and im so excited, ive been saving up to go as many times as possible this year! but it's hell if wait til end of feb/march cus itll usually already be spiking in the 100s SO DESERT FOLK, WEAR COOLING FABRICS THAT DUEL AS UV PROTECTION TOO hA
One major thing you missed with the costume/garb/kit part is that you need to dress FOR the faire. This doesn't mean something unique for each of them or days, but pay attention to the weather, temperatures, and similar things when picking what you're wearing. That wool cloak is going to make you feel like you're dying despite looking cool at warmer faires, and the shorter sleeves and light cloth can leave you freezing as well. Think about things like that when getting pieces for it because it's always a shame to spend a chunk of cash on something cool only to not be able to wear it for the faire...or end up wanting to burn it/discard it because you're not suited for it. And for more of the cosplay side of things, but does cross into things, figure out the space of your costume and gear before you go to the faire and pay attention to it while walking around in crowds. Don't be the person who forgets the space the wings take up behind them, a tail whipping around, or even just a sword or cloak trailing behind them that causes havoc wherever you go (And if you're one of the people showing up in a Star Trek...or similar...costume, don't wave things in peoples faces without getting permission from them for it.).

I'm so sorry that happened :( Ren faires should be fun, not creepy and uncomfortable
@ChelleBelleCosplay
Thank you for saying that. I'm really hoping that this year's going to be fun and not terribly uncomfy.

Omg ... the ex who introduced me to RenFaires she didn't like the shows so I've never gotten to check them out despite wanting to. :(
Your ex sounds like no fun :( maybe you can go now!
