The secret is to have a routine that you love doing every day, especially if it's in the morning. You will always look forward to waking up. For me: feeding my cat, walk for 30-40 minutes, make/drink coffee while reading books for an hour. No matter what happen after that, it was already a great day.
My husband and I were literally just talking about this! It was our day off, we were playing video games, our cat was snuggled up with us and he just turned to me and asked, “do you love our life? I love our life.” And I told him I do! I left my stressful job in the fall, we’re learning budgeting and living more frugally, and we serve our community and we serve our church. Our little apartment is full of laughter and music and friends. It’s so simple but we truly cherish it. For so long we were grinding and working but threw our money away on dumb stuff. Now we work less, save more, and are working toward goals that hopefully will make us more self sufficient. We still have dreams but they’re not as glamorous for some but they work for our values and our family. Your videos have also helped a ton! Thank you Gabe!
You're a rare woman and your husband is lucky to have you (based just on not chasing money). I'm such a man who in fhe last few years have hated the rat race and am now content, to an extent, with living frugally. However, finding a partner who is similar minded is almost impossible in today's insane hustle, I want everything under the sun world.
That’s awesome! It’s such a blessing to do that. To live small maybe, but have the time to do what you enjoy with people you love and not be in a rush. Sounds blissful.
We live in a multi acre neighborhood that used to be a farm. It’s like living in a park. Because of that, we’ve never felt constricted by taking yearly vacations. Haven’t traveled much since 2018. Haven’t missed it, love being home and doing our interests.
I heard you talk about traveling, I find traveling stressful. I had a week and half off around Christmas and when I got back to work every single person kept asking me "Where did you go?" "What did you do?" I live in Europe, where it is super easy and cheap to fly or even drive to any number of other countries, but it is still stressful and cost money. Everyone looked at me like I had sprouted a second head when I told everyone I went nowhere and did nothing except relax at home for ten days with movies and video games, and that I even lost track of a sleeping schedule, went to bed when tired, get up when not tired, no matter what time it was. I have to say it was the best vacation I have had in a long time, no pressure to go see something, or be with people, no hotel or food bills. Hope I get to do it again.
Exactly that, even though I also live in Europe and enjoy travelling, people seem to forget that it costs money to travel and usually a lot of energy and time. Even to get away somewhere at the weekend you end up spending so much time and money to then get back to work on a Monday feeling more tired. Delays also happen which then ends up a stressed out journey back home. At the end of the day sometimes we don’t need all this stress and would rather relax at home doing what you described 😊
I agree… I’m in the states and traveling isn’t my thing. When I get back I feel like I need a vacation to rest from the vacation. Plus, I detest hotels. They all seem growse. I don’t want to spend a ton of money for a room that I can’t enjoy. Our eat out at overpriced food. We took a cruise last summer and I thought this will be relaxing. I wasn’t on the boat for an hour before I was ready for it to be over. 😂 There was so many people and it was an introverts nightmare. We like to take day trips. Go to places that are an hour or two away and we can be home that night. I even remember being that way as a kid. I could never do camps or spend the nights. I would stay with close family and that’s it.
I live in Germany and I loved travelling. But lately found it very stressful as I organize everything, searching for cheap flights, cheap hotels near public transport, where to go and what to visit. All these things consume alot of time and energy, and the travel itself is just as stressful especially when there's alot of tourists in the place you visit. Next time I will just stay in a place where there's not a lot of people and just enjoy local food and sceneries. I guess I'm getting old 😅
@@JamieLC82 That is so true! A cruise sounds like an absolute nightmare. Also I have found that while travelling it's hard to find food that is not overpriced and tasty and home cooked meals just taste so much better & are healthier and cheaper. Also agree about hotels, I can never settle to sleep in them and they are so expensive. Day trips are definitely the best.
That is not a boring life. That is a fulfilled life. Loving the people in your life, being a steward of your body and possessions, enjoying the "little things" being grateful for life. That is the opposite of boring.
Having a good look 👀 at a hummingbird or a grass hopper or a snake or a cloud is everything. Making sprouts is the healthiest food there is from dried lentils, pras, or chick peas
I love my "boring" life. Its peaceful, drama free and safe. There's a reason i love this channel. Plus, every book you recommend, i look up. I just borrowed, "One Thing." This channel is SO MOTIVAING.
I’m the same way….My sister is always entertaining, traveling, and living in chaos but she seems to love it. Great for her! I’m home alone working on my projects, learning, cleaning and organizing, reading…walking….then looking at and enjoying my clean organized space. Lol I totally get it! You are not boring! You create peaceful content to validate everyone else like you!❤
My sister’s is like that too! She is really active on social media whereas I don’t even have an account (I’m better off without one). She travels for others to show, while I travel to experience. We’re poles apart but it’s okay 😄
You dont have a boring life. You have a very beautiful family. A homestead. Beautiful curls in your hair. A beautiful mindset. On and on. Thats the ultimate life. American dream in full effect
The American dream is the dream that makes you think you can have what everyone else does. But then when you go look for a job they all pay $14 an hour and you never get ahead.
You're on a great roll. Took me years to learn what you are talking about. We definitely live in a money makes happy believing society. Simplicity is sweet. Thank you for the channel. Happy New Year!!
You are definitely not alone. I totally love my simple life. I am such a hermit. Introverted but I just love being home, organizing, reading, praying. I am with God. Even when I go out sometimes with friends and I do love to see them sometimes. I am dreaming of being home the whole time and wonder why I even went. It’s ok it’s uniquely you. 🙏🏼
Thank you for saying that out loud. My family always pressures me to “do something “ And then I start rethinking myself “maybe there IS something wrong with me loving my home so much “ You just made me feel better
Same with me. I am always told I need to do this or that. I used to conform. Now I have the confidence to just be me. I don’t like to travel. It’s stressful. I like to be home. I like to read. I don’t want to go to concerts. I don’t want to shop constantly. I don’t want to go out for coffee all the time. I have a simple home. I get up an hour before my day starts to reflect and prepare for the day. Everyone has just been running round for Christmas. Not me. Very relaxed and laid back. I seem to confound people. They seem to think I’m unhappy. I’ve never been happier. I’m blessed for sure.😊
@@ChrissyhappyI totally get it. Although I like the occasional concert or shopping trip, I do them when I like, and not a moment before. Buying more shit doesn’t equal fulfillment. Do you, unapologetically.
You created a life you don't need to escape from. That's powerful! Some people travel and do all the things because they're trying to escape their boring lives. They need vacations; they don't want them. (Big difference.) Since you aren't doing the same, they think you're boring. No! They're boring which is why they need to constantly distract themselves. They don't realize you've cultivated what they're seeking.
I too chose a boring life and I’ll never go back to all the hustle and bustle that society wants us to believe is the norm. If I want to do anything I now have the time to do so. People often tell me that I need to do this or that and I tell them try this way of life. There’s nothing wrong with boring! Thanks for all your videos.
I totally understand - I also like being home and having routines. The world expects us to do "interesting" things 24/7. But I just find that stressful. Occasionally, yes, but not always. :)
I'm definitely a homebody. People always say I need to "go out more" and "experience life" without understanding that my wants & goals in life are very simple. There's nothing wrong with "boring" or simple. I like the fact that I don't have to rely on chasing "cheap thrills" to feel fulfilled. I also agree with you on traveling. 😂 I genuinely don't enjoy it. Plus I want to be a resident & experience the culture of where I am, not just a tourist there to take pictures. You're doing a great job & this stranger on the internet is very proud of you! ❤
There's a difference between "boring" and "realistic". You have a realistic and fulfilling life where you don't need to be in massive debt or stuck in the rat race trying to keep up with expensive liabilities you don't need. I think that's wonderful.
Yes I want a boring life that suits me. Easy living, good food, good sleep, healthy body, organized home, clean home, some travel, seeing those I care about and love as much as possible, good books, movies, hanging with my doggie
as an introvert hermit I leave my house maybe 3x/ month. My happy place is my craft room where I make handmade cards, mixed media etc. or my sewing room,
I've recently retired, and after 30+ years of time stress and forcing myself to get up early, I now enjoy having a blank calendar and drinking coffee while I watch TH-cam. I'm trying to figure out how to be motivated from within rather than having motivation forced on me externally by job demands.
Totally agree with you! Don’t postpone joy. I learned this 25 years ago. I remember that I was just pushing, pushing to finish my masters degree, and a few days later my dad died. I remember the punch in the gut when it hit me that we must find ways to live our best life every single day no matter what. Because every day is someone’s last. I love your channel and I wish I had fully realized that when I was your age. Keep doing you! You won’t regret a farm.
Gosh, I needed to hear this. My husband and I have created a life we don't have to escape from. Some people say we should DO more. Why? We love the simple things we do. We've traveled a lot with jobs, we've seen a lot. I want to be at home! Thank you.
Gabe, I love it! I traveled for work for almost 7 years. Never home, always on the road. I thought I loved it and then covid hit. I was home and I learned how to slow down and relax. I discovered the process of making a great cup of coffee in the morning and look forward to that every single day. I quit my job in October 2020 and I am a homebody. My dogs love it, I have adopted another dog and I work on my hobbies, go fishing and got back into photography again. You do not have a boring life, if anything, you are truly living! Maybe I will create a channel after completing your course! Excellent video!
None of this makes you weird, you’ve just found yourself. Most people never do. Want a wonderful place to be in. I think introverts tend to lead a smaller life. We don’t need a lot of external stimulation to find happiness, solitude and fulfillment. Like you said you ‘built a life you didn’t need to escape from’ that says it all.
I have found that a "boring" life is what makes me happiest. Going on vacation.....from the time we leave I can hardly wait to get home. Everyone enjoys different things
Same here. I really dislike going on vacations. My husband gets mad because I never want to go places. When we do, it flusters me and I don’t then enjoy it. But I have dogs and chickens to worry about. I also dislike spending money going places.
I can relate. I've been to every continent. Spent 2 months in Antarctica. Just finished my third college degree. Served in Iraq. Briefly worked on Capital Hill when it was fun. I once lived a life of adventure and have participated in the grind. I'm now 44. Bought a small farm in a rural area 45 minutes from the city. I leave the farm maybe twice a week. Typically for the hardware store and food coop. There is absolutely no place else I'd rather be than on the farm. I'd be ok if I never step foot on another airplane again. "I want nothing more than to go home, live our lives, make sour dough bread..." Amen! For real.
I love a boring life: it feels good to have routines and I like accomplishing tasks. Not only is it fulfilling, but it also makes outside routine activities more special
When I was younger I was exploring everything as most young people want to do, but as I got older I didn’t need to do that anymore and love being at home in my routine. I think this kind of goes hand in hand with people trying to find “their purpose “, I struggled with this myself, but why do we need a purpose? Why can’t just living a simple life be enough? I just realized this at 49 now I am 51…
Boy I thought I was alone in this. I've moved back to the small farm I grew up on and I'm not leaving! I love my routine life, spending time in the gardens, with my animals or just tinkering around with different projects. It is so peaceful and still very productive, rewarding and always learning new skills. In 2024 we are testing ourselves to see how many days we can go without going to the city for something. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing ❤😊
I am glad you said you created a life that you didn't want to try to escape from....that is where I am right now.... trying to build a life I feel like I'm not trying to run away from...It takes work to create the life you want and I'm glad your putting in the work and inspiring us here on TH-cam!
I absolutely love the simple life like I experienced in Romania. We're headed back in March. Spending time there made me realize how chaotic life here in the US is and how much I hated it.
That's a very cool idea: I've built a life that I don't need an escape from". Exactly! I totally can relate to that. I don't feel too excited going to a million places too often, I like my simple life when I just can stay at home cooking, reading, pursuing my hobbies and being with my family. I'm kinda over that hustle. I see more and more people on TH-cam who are in harmony with themselves living the same simple life. 💟
I feel very much the same…occasionally I start to feel influenced by others more outwardly busy lives and my husband just reminds me that we don’t need to live a life like everyone else. Our last vacation, we came home a day early because we felt good with everything we had done on the trip and just felt like it was time to go home. Slow and consistent is the way to harmony for us.
I love this video. Spot on! Boring is beautiful!! One of my favorite trips is to go to the middle of West Texas, passing through miles and miles of nowhere and doing nothing in particular. So fulfilling. Again - boring is beautiful!
Thanks for another inspiring video. As a therapist, husband and father, I think that being home more often with your child and wife is what most men would want and you have achieved. The moments you spend with your child is precious and finite. No wonder you'd want to stay home more and if your source of income can be achieved at home, it's a win-win! Take care, Paul Sanders
Bro, you are just in a higher level of consciousness. You have escaped the material and just content with your life. I am almost there but sadly the finances are not quite there yet. I hope to be where you are one day. ❤
Thank you so much for creating this video. I can't tell you how much I needed it. I had gotten to a place where I cared far too much about what other people think. I really love a simple life. This couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you. I spent a month in Ireland when I was a kid and absolutely loved it. We rented two or three houses and enjoyed the little things. Seeing a wild buck in the forest on one of the properties we stayed on and having ducklings follow me are beautiful memories I still cherish over 25 years later. It really is the little things ❤
This is a great video! Personally, I just retired after 30 years of civil service and now draw a pension. People are always asking me and my wife "Don't you want to work?" "What do you do all day?" I have so much to do at home, we are actively attempting to purge belongings and downsize, going through each area of our home, and that is a full-time job right now! We are focusing on our health, and our relationship with each other. I just found your channel, and I think it will be a great source of inspiration for us. All the best and God Bless!
Dude this is the American dream. In a vast sea of consumerism it’s easy to do what everyone else does because that’s what cool/happy/interesting people do right? Wrong. Happiness is what you make it to be, and it’s the small things that paint the big picture. I love having my simple, cozy life and it certainly helps to have that special someone who shares the same goal of living a simple, fulfilling, and loving life. Thank you for making this video - more people need to watch this and be okay with “boredom” it’s not actually boring lol😊
The perfect day is on the beach listening and smelling the waves. I have a boring life but I do like to cruise to Caribbean. Once a year try to do that. My life is slow, Im retired and sometimes I don’t even get the car out of the garage. I understand. A little of people interaction goes a long way but I do enjoy people then I go home to my books and drink tea! We can’t save the world, but we can make our corner safe and comforting.
Being thankful for the beautiful days to enjoy. Not having debt. Owning a wonderful 3/2 home! Able to go work out. Being retired and healthy. Watching informative videos and reading wonderful books. Working on a craft or project. Taking Mom out to lunch. Going to worship. Not having bills. Sitting and brushing my cat. Cooking. Cleaning my home. Calling a homebound friend and having deep meaningful conversations. Volunteering at my local library. There is so very much to do that owning better things really doesn't figure into it. This is where my happiness comes from. Gratefulness in where you are, who you love and the wonderful life we have!
Haha, you spoke directly to me. I feel exactly the same. Whenever we go somewhere for a couple of nights because my husband and daughter love to be more out and about, i cannot wait to come back home to my life and my routines. I think the more intentional you are with creating your life exactly how you want it to be at home, you do not feel the need to escape it. I optimized everything (or almost everything) as i want it to be - including making sourdough bread😂❤
YES!! Thank you for this! As a retired person, I love my routine. We visit family out of state a few times throughout the year but it is also good to get home again and just resume our regular life. Others do not understand often, but it's ok to be a 'homebody' and enjoy the peace and quiet of a normal day to day life.
So beautiful to read these comments and see how many people are truly happy being more frugal and living a more solo private life. All the social media pressure to go and do and buy and collect is so wrong. It’s just propaganda for misery. I love being a loner. I love God. I love walking and reading and my pets and my parrot. The true meaning of life is gratitude and to have peace and contentment when you walk into your home and close the front doors. Life just doesn’t get any better than that.
The grass always looks greener on the other side. The only person you have to please is yourself and your family. More money isn't going to make you any happier than you already are. The best things in life are free. Being kind and enjoying relationships is whats important. Keep it up.
I really enjoy your channel and love to see you and your beautiful family. I have been feeling that my husband and I should do very much more in 2024. All my friends are travelling, constantly planning holidays or days out and attending courses. They are "packing it in" as we are in our 60s and 70s. After listening to your video ,I am pleased to say, I intend to continue living my wonderfully boring life just letting life happen. No big plans just going with the flow. I am 75 and still happily married to the wonderful man I met at 16 . Thank you Gabe X
Two important points in the video that struck me (with my interpretations and perspective added): 1. Having a secure and sustainable life is more important than having a "non-boring" life. Much of life is "boring" or actually boring. Much of life is repeat and routine. Thankfully, my father beat this into my brain and a I grew up a little, allowing me to see this. It is important to try to enjoy you life "as it is" and appreciate the boring things. As OP stated, 90% (I would argue more) of life is boring. Many things that other people think are exciting are boring. Just find what you like to do and pursue that (not ignoring your responsibilities, of course). 2. How you travel is just as important as where you travel. My family has been very into traveling for a long time. My parents have been to the majority of the countries in the world. I had the opportunity as a child and teenager to travel to several foreign countries and live in one for several months. I continue to travel domestically on my own and with my parents at times. I increasingly find, however, that I am annoyed at the pace of the travel that is largely imposed on me by my family. Seeing the big tourist things can be fun, particularly on your first visit to a new city/area. But if you get to go back to the same area, it is good to consider alternative options and see some lesser-known attractions. Going slow and spending some time just enjoying nature and/or a slow paced meal/night out, etc can be just as interesting and enjoyable as doing the big tourist thing. If you are moving faster than you find comfortable, you are likely missing out on things you might find enjoyable. Also, don't buy a Tesla. They are having a lot of quality problems now. It has been confirmed that Tesla knew about these problems and did nothing to fix them until a recent recall. Elon Musk is, at best, a greedy slime, and, more likely, working actively to undermine the foundations of our society. He is a poor businessman who is driving a multi-billion dollar platform into the ground to try to satisfy his own vanity. Don't choose to support his bad behavior. You are better off just buying a older car that can be worked on and learning how to work on it, if you are interested in such an activity. Obviously, I don't know you for shit, just trying to provide you with knowledge that might be helpful. Thanks for the video.
I agree. DON'T buy a Tesla. You will regret that. Until the battery cost issues are resolved, you will be throwing your money down the drain. After a few years, you will either have to fork out $20k for a new battery or dump the car since it will have virtually no resale value.
As a fellow introvert, I can totally relate. Honestly, the way you live your life sounds amazing to me. Thanks for the book recommendation. I've already downloaded it. My biggest challenge right now is finding what I'm passionate / curious about and using that as a springboard. Any ideas on figuring that out when it doesn't seem obvious?
It took me a few years to find my thing I think just dive headlong into something that sounds interesting and try it for a few months and move on if it's not your thing
Think back to when you were in kindergarten - say 5 or 6 - what were the things that you enjoyed - the things that you daydreamed about. That will bring a smile to your face and help you you get in touch with what you enjoy now - it will be a little path that will bring you enlightenment. I love the quote from the movie 'Mask of Zorro' - Don Raphael asks: 'and are you a man of vision'? Alejandro: 'I am a man in search of a vision'.
I agree with almost everything you said in this video about enjoying a simple "boring" life (except the buying a Farm thing.) When I travel, I now avoid almost everything "touristy" and simply enjoy watching and assimilating into the local scenes and culture as much as I can.
This is my favourite video you’ve made thus far (following for about a year) because I believe it’s truly one of life’s greatest revelations. So much of what we see is just smoke & mirrors so YOU DO YOU BOO. I’m 38 and one of the most peace-inducing things is letting go of societal expectations/norms and just living the life YOU want. Got rid of social media (aside from YT) a year ago and I’ll never go back. Helps to stay present and be grateful for what I have. Keep making videos Gabe - you’re really good at it. Also, please ask Meredith to do a layman’s ‘How To’ on sourdough on her channel. 😁🙏❤️ - Sincerely, a Fellow Homebody 🏡
All this time I'm really thinking is it right to live as silent and simple as this? My friends are always out and it makes me think sometimes "am i spending my life wrong?". Well i think i have my answer now. Thank you so much for this video
I appreciate this video. I feel like I’m always supposed to be doing things outside of my home because that’s what we see on social media. I love my home, the peace, and the comfort of my home.
This video made me realize so many things. In my 20’s and 30’s, I was the guy who was always doing something. I was always traveling, going to concerts, games, and events, meeting friends for dinner or drinks, and basically just always on the go. Over the last few years, I’ve stopped a lot of that and now spend most of my time at home. I read for two to three hours a day and spend a couple hours each day writing. It’s an extremely “boring” life…but I love it. I still do things occasionally and I enjoy them, but all things being equal, I’d rather be home reading. This video made me realize that I have accidentally built a life that I don’t want to escape from. A life where I don’t need a vacation because I’m truly happy living my day to day. It made me realize that the reason I’m not at events isn’t because I can’t attend them due to time or money, but because I would rather just be home doing the things I enjoy. I had wondered why I didn’t do much anymore but your video helped me see that it’s because I choose not to. I am truly happy just being me and I don’t need to do things to make me happy. My life of reading, writing, and teaching, may seem boring, but to me, it’s exactly what I want to be doing. Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me see that there is nothing wrong with enjoying the little things in my daily routine and that what other people consider happiness isn’t what I consider happiness.
Last year in November, higher management told me in a meeting that my coworker said I was boring. I'm not boring at all. In my opinion I believe in the world we live in today, extroverts are the popular people. Extroverts are people who talk all the time, going out somewhere, shopping all the time and the life of the party. As I get older I'm going more for the simpler life. I talk at work but not as much because work needs to get done. I like to slow down and go for walks on the weekend with my daughter. Gabe you are not boring and neither am I. We have lifestyles that others don't do, that's my opinion.
I have traveled a lot my entire life but within the last few years discovered I really prefer to be at home. I relate to what you said so much. Every single trip I think about coming home early. I have set up my home life with my husband and my dog to be a sanctuary that I never need to leave.
I feel the same, now in my 30s I literally tend to do short trips abroad for a maximum of 2 days as after that I just get bored and want to be back to my routine. Travel is not relaxing at all when you have to navigate around completely new places, foreign languages and culture. It is still great but it takes money and energy so to me short trips are best
This video is SOOO BEAUTIFUL, thanks for all of it. I'm 53 and learning tons from you. You are now one of my favorite coaches. Best to you and your beautiful family!
This is a great video. I've spent years chasing more and more $$$ all over the country, but a few years ago I found myself back in the Midwest working 3 12-hour shifts a week at a hospital. I only recently realized that the job I have taking care of patients 3 days a week is bliss, even though it's sometimes stressful while I'm there. 3 12's per week, and done. I make a difference in people's lives when I'm working, but I'm off when I leave the facility and it's only 12 days a month. It's almost like being retired, I think. It makes me feel silly for ever leaving bedside care to chase more $. I'm happy to have finally learned this, and all I really do now is go to the hospital and hang out with my Dad and family when I'm off. I wish I would have started living like this 20 years ago.
I love my routine-driven, boring life, being an absolute home buddy. Work, chores, gym, time with friends and family. Not really exciting things, but I do not dream about travels, expensive things, etc. Would love to have a small farm though, like you said, with a couple of animals. Fulfilment and being content can be different for all of us.
I have experienced exactly the same feeling. I watched my brother in law travel and other friends travel to different parts of the world and I thought that that’s what I needed in my life. I took several trips recently and realized that being home in my routine is really what made me feel safe and happy…content. ❤
I think it’s a good sign when you love being home. My family has built a slow life too, we also make sourdough bread, we have animals (chickens, goats) and a beautiful garden, and we have real estate investments and can get by and thrive just working part time jobs to supplement our income. We spend lots of time together as a family, which is so valuable. I travelled in Europe before getting married/having children, and for me it was a one and done situation! I just like being home! 😊
When I’m really honest with myself, I am so happy/content with what I have - I’d love to travel the world in first class….but it’s okay if I don’t. Thanks for your videos, they are wonderful. I borrowed The One Thing and am going to get cozy and read it now! Thanks again!
A great, honest video Gabe, I'm also quite introverted and rarely socialise these days. I've always been a homebody since I was small. I Love the simple pleasures, like reading with my cat on my lap, watching TV, going for a walk or bike ride etc. I work with the public so meet people every day and work on a side hustle, interests in my spare time. I have never cared what anyone thinks about how I chose to live my life. Don't get me wrong, I love to chat and have a good laugh as often as I can :) You have a wonderful family life and the freedom to do whatever you want with your days, that is truly precious. Enjoy!
My household is a multigenerational family by choice. Definitely not the norm in the United States, but it is in many countries. Our goal when we bought this house 14 years ago was to create lives for ourselves that we didn’t have to get away from. We are all very content, with the simple lives that we have created and have access to from our home. Yes, we are all introverts. But we also all have our friends and a life that feeds our soul. none of us feel like we need to get away from it all, ever. As someone else commented, it’s called contentment.
Could not agree more. I’m living a similar life and I’m totally fine with it. 🙏🏻 I was alone for the last two weeks, during the Christmas break, and sometimes I felt a little lonely but also at peace. ✌🏻
Your not boring or have a boring life. You are at peace and feel complete!!! Nothing wrong with that !!! Love that your authentic and it's a rarity. I just came upon your channel and I can relate ! I am just like yourself.
"you created a life that you don't want to escape". I love that! Your life is awesome in my opinion. I live a pretty "boring" life and I am using your tips to help make my life more "boring", which is exactly what I want 😅
“It turns out the happiness, the fulfillment, the I’ve-made-it part of life comes in enjoying the small things, the everyday boring part of life which is 90% of our lives.” What a great quote Gabe.
This video totally resonated with me. My perfect day would going for a hike and cleaning my home. Just ordered the book you spoke about, thank you Gabe 📕 😅
Do what makes u feel happy.Stressfree.If it brings u joy ....don't explain it to anyone. Its what is called being content.Just be pleased ,u realised it whilst u are still pretty young.Make the most of every moment.
I love this kind of life! And I agree about travel. I don’t want to rush just to check places off of a list. I want to live in the different locations for a short time to see what life is like there. Thanks for the encouragement to do what we really love!
It's only boring to people who see it as boring. There are many people who enjoy this like myself, I also like doing other things out BUT i would 100% choose staying home and chilling than partying, vacationing, drinking etc etc
When i was in college i live as if i had all the money in the world but then at then end i was disappointed and broke all the time.. so by the final year of my college i started living a simple life which i still continue today and honestly I'm much happier and content in whatever i have.. i also don't mind having and wearing old clothes or shoes for years and stuffs i use them until its broken or torn. And i don't mind 😊.. Thank you Gabe for another great video. You taught me alot 🙏🏻
100% AGREE. I dealt with all that FOMO but the biggest truth is you need to be ok with the now. Wherever that is, whatever that is. I feel boring often myself but I do feel like I am connected with my surroundings, and I like how you say it is a life you don't want to escape from. That's a fabulous way to put it. It is a blessing you have that perspective, some folks never get there or even part of the way there. The line from "Any Given Sunday" is great, "...that's what living is...the six inches in front of your face." For you that six inches is beautiful
Thank you for this! I live a simple life too and although I recognize that I am quite content I still fall into the occasional trap of thinking, should I be doing more? Striving for bigger things? This was a pleasure to listen to and made me happy to know others enjoy this way of living as well 😊
I couldn't agree more. This is how I live as well, and though I'm often questioned about it, sometimes even by myself, I know that it is a right way to live.
I think it comes down to how each of us are "wired". I've been a life-long introvert (except for my job which is a commercial photographer and on set sometimes I feel like a circus ring-leader). I'm content by myself. When my partner is away, I realize on a Monday morning that I have not had a conversation all weekend long. We moved our business from NYC to Chicago a few years ago and I have not made any friends here---prob because I just don't care about socializing. Almost everything I find interesting I can do by myself. Conversely, when working I totally enjoy the team mindset and all the camaraderie it entails. But almost never go out after work with the crew. Like you, I just don't care... and ps. I'm a minimalist also...I wonder if a shared trait?
I have no clue how I found your page.. but I'm glad I did.. your content relates to me so much.. I told my husband I have reached my dreams. I have a family who spends every night together and our home is our paradise. We have zero interest in being outside of our daily routine at home and work on our farm.
The secret is to have a routine that you love doing every day, especially if it's in the morning. You will always look forward to waking up. For me: feeding my cat, walk for 30-40 minutes, make/drink coffee while reading books for an hour. No matter what happen after that, it was already a great day.
What a great perspective! Thanks for sharing this
❤❤❤

Sounds good if your retired
@@Lamby1010 I have a full time job still. :) I just wake up (naturally without alarm) 2-3 hours before work and do these things first.
Wome like you dosen’t excist. He’s lucky
they exist but not on tinder@@henrikduende
That’s awesome! It’s such a blessing to do that. To live small maybe, but have the time to do what you enjoy with people you love and not be in a rush. Sounds blissful.
Damn , that's very wholesome
It's called contentment, something most people seek, but few find.
You're doing great Gabe,❤
I yearn for contentment . . . .
The accuracy in your comment is outstanding!
We live in a multi acre neighborhood that used to be a farm. It’s like living in a park. Because of that, we’ve never felt constricted by taking yearly vacations. Haven’t traveled much since 2018. Haven’t missed it, love being home and doing our interests.
And I think a lot of people don't understand that you can reach contentment and not need more.
Amen ❤
I found kindred spirits here!
That is not a boring life. That is a fulfilled life. Loving the people in your life, being a steward of your body and possessions, enjoying the "little things" being grateful for life. That is the opposite of boring.
Well said!
Completely agree!
Having a good look 👀 at a hummingbird or a grass hopper or a snake or a cloud is everything. Making sprouts is the healthiest food there is from dried lentils, pras, or chick peas
Beautiful beautiful perspective, I agree with you
I love my "boring" life. Its peaceful, drama free and safe.
There's a reason i love this channel. Plus, every book you recommend, i look up. I just borrowed, "One Thing." This channel is SO MOTIVAING.
Came here to say just that. I quit having friends, going places with them ( usually causes drama and flights later on) I'm loving it.
SAFE --- what a good word @roseeze166!!!
You create peaceful content to validate everyone else like you!❤
That's true this is just for me it's definitely not for everybody
my sis is the same way. I like a slow none stress life.
Yes yes yes!
My sister’s is like that too! She is really active on social media whereas I don’t even have an account (I’m better off without one). She travels for others to show, while I travel to experience. We’re poles apart but it’s okay 😄
I need a hand holder to help me organize and sort my stuff
What a beautiful phrase, "I had built a life that I didn't want to escape from." ❤
You dont have a boring life. You have a very beautiful family. A homestead. Beautiful curls in your hair. A beautiful mindset. On and on. Thats the ultimate life. American dream in full effect
Still to some people it definitely seems boring
Not to mention a successful TH-cam career!
The American dream is the dream that makes you think you can have what everyone else does. But then when you go look for a job they all pay $14 an hour and you never get ahead.
Like that attitude, never settle.
Keep up the good work as you encourage us, make sure to open the Bible to read Gabe. Love you brother.
Amen!!
What you describe is classic depression, which you have probably lived with for so long, you don't recognize it. Please get help.
Oh I wish I was more like this. With God
So true, so true!
@@ChrissyhappyI totally get it. Although I like the occasional concert or shopping trip, I do them when I like, and not a moment before. Buying more shit doesn’t equal fulfillment. Do you, unapologetically.
I was going to say this, too!
I have a “boring” life at home too. I absolutely love it. Being at home pottering is my favourite ❤
I love when you said “I have built the life I love” there’s intentionality in that statement and the fact that you’re happy with it is admirable.
It definitely took some work but I feel so blessed now
You created a life you don't need to escape from.
That's true! Feel so blessed
@@GabeBult 😊
Perfect ❤
I too chose a boring life and I’ll never go back to all the hustle and bustle that society wants us to believe is the norm. If I want to do anything I now have the time to do so. People often tell me that I need to do this or that and I tell them try this way of life. There’s nothing wrong with boring! Thanks for all your videos.
Nothing wrong with having a life you enjoy!
Is NOT ‘boring’. It’s what your Soul NEEDS. I can resonate, lots of people feel the same, they just do talk abt it…
I totally understand - I also like being home and having routines. The world expects us to do "interesting" things 24/7. But I just find that stressful. Occasionally, yes, but not always. :)
I think we feel guilty when we're home but in reality that's what most people's lives
Love being home 🏡
That's true
It’s cool to see somebody else I know watching this type of content if this is who I think it is. Are you a member of modern guitarist?
I am at that stage now. it is difficult, but it's the difference between the haves and have nots.
I love the blank calendar bit.
Sounds absolutely fantastic.
Continue to enjoy your retirement.
Thank you.
“Other people” and “some people” need to mind their own business, don’t they? ☺️
It's definitely not for everybody but for me it's really nice
The older I get I realize I want to do what I want to do, and eliminate the stuff I don’t want as much as possible. Keeping it simple is underrated.
I admire the way you live. It shows that you don’t need to be entertained by the outside world to be happy. I’ve become the same way.
Take care,
Paul Sanders
You're blessed to have found someone who has & enjoys the same mindset! Health, strength & happiness to you & your lovely family🎉😊
That's so true! I think a lot of it is consciously putting time and effort into finding routines that are enjoyable and fulfilling to you
YES!! Thank you for this! As a retired person, I love my routine. We visit family out of state a few times throughout the year but it is also good to get home again and just resume our regular life. Others do not understand often, but it's ok to be a 'homebody' and enjoy the peace and quiet of a normal day to day life.
„Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication“ - Leonardo da Vinci
Thanks for sharing. I have been trying to justify my just wanting to stay put and work on music lately instead of continually being out and about.
Two important points in the video that struck me (with my interpretations and perspective added):
Loving and living a life you do not want to escape from sounds like a blessing that all of us should strive to achieve.
I love my boring life, I actually can't wait to make it even more boring!! Love your videos
I do a few roadtrips a year which I enjoy but I enjoy getting home probably even more. Never get bored being home.
Loved this video! I’m a homebody and love my boring life💕 There’s no where I’d rather be than home:)
A quiet and simple life is so underrated. After being off social media for over two years, I’ve retreated to my “boring” life in peace. It’s awesome!
My husband and I are the same...it's the simple pleasures of home life for us too 💜
OMG finally I’ve found someone that thinks and feels the same as me. How refreshing. I think you’re amazing. 👍🥰
When I’m really honest with myself, I am so happy/content with what I have - I’d love to travel the world in first class….but it’s okay if I don’t. Thanks for your videos, they are wonderful. I borrowed The One Thing and am going to get cozy and read it now! Thanks again!
I needed to hear this. I feel validated. Many of us are the same way. ❤
Enjoy!
I think there are more of us than society leads us to believe. This was wonderful!
Omg thank you for articulating my thoughts 😩. I love my boring life. I don’t want the social media life. I love my house and my cat 😂.
I love this kind of life! And I agree about travel. I don’t want to rush just to check places off of a list. I want to live in the different locations for a short time to see what life is like there.
Thanks for the encouragement to do what we really love!
You are not alone. 🙆♀️ Myself enjoying a simple, boring life too. It's a bliss. Who cares what others think about me. 😂
It's true I just need to get over caring
🔥
Thanks!
Yo thanks 🙏
I love having a routine at home. It's other people in my life that force me to do things I don't want to do.
That’s definitely not a boring life! It’s a dream life for many people to live such a peaceful stress free life!
😊
I love being home too and the simple things, I too make videos when I’m home and this year is going to be more chill and countryside ❤
I totally get this. I’m the same way. I wish we could normalize this. ❤
