Mine was a Frigidaire filter and it stuck also. I was very lucky to find you first try and it saved my day plus a very expensive service call and exasperation being outsourced to someplace in the near east. God bless the USA and TH-cam and you.
This worked! I did need to use a hair dryer to get the pins to finally release as there was a bit of ice. Taking the cover off means you can actually get at the release mechanism, and the hairdryer worked in under a minute.
Dude...right on... i had the same issue ..with rocky road.. thank you.. this proves my point again that instruction manuals are just not worth keeping.. you saved the day.
Thanks! I'm not mechanically inclined but your video was excellent and I got er done :) I especially appreciated the bit at the end where you showed the movement up and down. It helped me know how to maneuver it properly.
Thank you so much for your video, it really help me a lot! I have been using a third party water filter that it's supposed to fit well. So far it was good, I have been replacing it with no issues until now. Thank you again.
Woo hoo. It worked. Once the casing was off, little screwdriver didn't work but by hitting the filter with my palm very forcefully, it clicked and came off. That did not work with the casing still attached. The filter needed more play. Thank you.
Omga!!! I have not googled anything in 5 years to fix this stuck filter and my cousins like google how to fix that stuck thing!! THANK YOU!! I now have a changed out filter because of you. Wahoo! It worked. Mine was a little different with the light next to it but still same concept with removing screw and all. THANKS!!
It took me awhile to push in on the tube and up on the bracket between the two connectors. Finally out. Thanks Pull the safety covers off the new device tips.
Thanks, that was exactly how mine looks and the first video, glad I watched yours first . It worked just like your video,, I even dropped the screw.and
Nice this helped me get the filter out, only thing is when I took the screw out it fell and is now nowhere to be found; sounded like it somehow got behind the back wall of the fridge 😂
I must have watched ten videos, all with different advice, and none of which applied to my situation. I'm glad I finally came across yours! Do you think there is a reason this suddenly happens after not having any problems before?
That totally worked! I was already at the point where I took out that 1 screw & got the cap off & then I was thinking sh*t, I'm going to have to call an appliance repair person, pull the fridge out, disconnect the water line & take out 4 more screws etc etc but no! Your method worked perfectly! I put the cap back on, burned my left hand on the right side light bulb & then said "f*ck it, that 1 screw is not needed to be put back in place". So, thank you, thank you!!
Nice. I have this issues with mine. Been like this for a while now. NOW, its giving me an issue with making ice as well too. So, ill be replacing that filter base soon. Hope this fixes both issues i have. Ive already cleaned the spout going to the ice make, cleaned the coils under the fridge, swapped a new filter, and swapped the water valve/solinoid assembly. Ive even reset the fridge. Same issue still ensues. Ice is beinf made at a snails pace and the ice wedges im getting arent very unifom in shape either, when it does pop them out. Im about to swap the ice make itself, to weed out all components i can think of that may be the issue. It was working perfectly for a long time too. Even with the fridge set at 4 on the freezer side. Always had a full tray of ice. I e ven had times where ive had to shut it off for a short while. Water pressure coming out of the dispenser doesn't seeem to be as forceful as it once was, but it is coming out. I dont know what the flow rate should be. So, i cant be a judge about that. Im wondering if the filtered water line may be clogged? I didnt notice anything as i was dealing with the valve....
Thanks for this video. Tried another which suggested hot cup of water to steam but that didn’t work. Was nervous about putting sharp objects but worked very well. 😊
I'm not sure if I am brave enough to do this but I will find someone who is. My questions... why turn off the ice maker? Can things run (ice, water, frig, freezer) with filter left out until a new one is ordered, delivered and installed? After trying and failing to remove filter to find out what to replace it with, I noticed my freezer light was out later when opened the freezer. (side by side). Coincidence or is there some type of connection?
Of all the videos I had to watch that got me nowhere, I finally found yours and it saved my fridge, my sanity and my marriage. Thank you!
Lmao!!! Glad it helped!!!
Great thanks to you. I could not have imagined it was so easy. Sprayed a little lubrication on the clip and jiggled it to slide easier next time
Also saved my sanity 😂 mine has been stuck for a year 🤬
Mine too!

You saved us we were stuck with ours for half an hour and your way worked instantly
Glad it helped!
Outstanding! Thought I was going to have to call a repair person. Fixed in under a minute.
Dude, you’re the man! Went to take my filter out, and MFer wasn’t have it. Your tip worked a treat. Cheers 🤙

Not to mention, you can just find the manual online when needed😊

Thank you! Man, so glad you posted this. Almost bought a Brita pitcher. Glad to put that off 6 months
My pleasure!
Thanks! saved me a service call. Worked great. Was easy and quick. Really appreciate it.
Thank you! I've been trying to get this dang filter out for the last month! I'm never buying cheap filters again!
Is that why? My old source for water filters went out of business, so I found this new one.
@@toddbannon3380 I use OEM and they still stick. Save money if you can,
I use Frigidaire filters and they also stick. It is the fault of the unit, not the filter.
This was extremely helpful! Our filter was stuck and we followed your directions and it worked perfectly! Thank you!

Thank you! Our filter never comes out easily...we use as much force as we can muster. This will be sooo much easier. And safe so much frustration.
Your directions worked flawlessly. Thank you.
Thank you! Mine froze up and actually broke and got stuck. Was leaking water out. Got it out in 2 minutes with this vid!
Thanks, that was exactly how mine looks and the first video, glad I watched yours first . It worked just like your video,, I even dropped the screw.and

I followed your instructions, and the filter still is stuck. What else should I do?
You figure it out? I would turn off water and remove the unit. Water lines are typical push up and pull out fittings. Good luck
I literally broke mine out then take needle nose to remove tips
It could be frozen...try turning up the temp but not too high to thaw food

I noticed one of the water lines is much darker color, same as mine, wonder if it’s normal or a symptom of bacteria accumulating
This worked for me thanks for the information.
Thank you! I was getting ready to put a hammer to the water filter!

Tried 3 x and that does not work.there has to be better easier way.
now if we all could just figure out why it only makes 2 loads of ice a day and other days it fills the bucket.
