Besides Tomo Zo (who you can't even look at without smiling back), I really love that Hammond B3-like sound that Oreo has going. More of that, please! Love this band!
Wow, what an enjoyable song. Another reason Tomo-zo has become one of my favorite guitarists. The call-response between Yuri and Tomo-zo was an added bonus. I'll admit that I wasn't certain about the addition of Yuri when I first heard her but not only has she more than proven herself as a superb drummer, she is also a great addition to this band of talented musicians.
These are musicians of the highest caliber, right up there with Rie aka Suzaku/The Muses, Daisuke Kurosawa's various ensembles, Tokyo Groove Jyoshi et cetera. To view Gacharic Spin as merely an electronic pop group (as seems to be too often the case) is a major error. I seriously compared these ladies to early Yes the other day and feel they could just as well release a full-on Progressive Rock concept album, instrumental Fusion, probably City Pop if they wanted to do so.
@@homegnome2429 Might be a contest between her and Akane Hirose from Band-Maid. Hey, I'll bet you could create a mega super star band just from Japanese women who smile infectuously!
@@Kevin6059 That's a tough call between Akane and Mizuki ( Lonesome Blue / East of Eden ) for the drummer ! And the bassist has to be Fami from Lovebites 🤩
Nice work, ladies. Love that yuri shows solo chops on this. Although I very much like the Instrumental 2018, this seems to have more transparent and better chemistry between the players. And I trust Hana is out on this number by her own volition -- that no one told her to "take a walk."
Ok, why am I now only finding them now??? I've been listening to female Japanese rock bands for a while now, and somehow they never came up. Added to my list for sure
I myself accidentally ran across them about a year or so ago, their song Mindset was the first tune I heard by them. For whatever reason I thought "what the hell" & clicked it, and I was blown away by the musicanship. Which meant I had to delve into their past catalog, and see all their transformations musically.
One thing I like about these girls they can go from "VH" to "B King" in 0-60 and back again I nothing flat. Such a wide range of variety. Its like a box chocolates you don't know what your going to get 😂😜😂
Question for the guitar gurus: how does TOMO-ZO turn off her octaves at the 1:05-1:06 mark when she's away from her effects box? I can't see her manipulating anything on her guitar. Just curious as to how that works?
@@nanakakitano9724 Thanks for the earlier comprehensive explanation, which I'd overlooked.. I think the closest I've come to anything like 2) is on a digital keyboard which changed sounds while I was playing without my doing anything except playing, as if the bank/tone changes had been pre-programmed; not using digital keyboard extensively I didn't explore this technology further. It was enough for me to learn how to work a preset combination sequencer on pipe organ, which is my primary instrument. That still involves activating a control handier to access than the actual preset or reversible piston. I think digital keyboards have a foot control like what Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) uses to change sounds without having to switch keyboards or being constrained by a pre-programmed sequencer. 1) puts the onus on the roadie, but I guess that's frequently one of their tasks, if they're musically astute and quick enough. 1a) would keep a bandmate on their toes, especially if they were "taking a walk" for a much-needed break in a single-act show of 2+ hours (longer than this livestream, I realize)!
@@nanakakitano9724 Thanks - I'm pretty sure it is 2 in this case. When Angie was doing the pedals it was for variable expression rather than the consistent change in tone and I don't see why they wouldn't show it if it were the case. Plus they don't really go off on the fly or jam from the performances I've seen, so it being pre-programmed to a click makes most sense, especially with the number of changes.

@@rojam8084 that surprises me - they have been around for a long time and they all have great reputations as musicians. maybe the idol groups are more popular ?
@@nanakakitano9724 sounds like the music scene here in the states. some of the most laughably bad music you have ever heard is what's popular on the radio and tv. still the same stale rap , hip hop and pop garbage that's been around for the last 25 years. but people that appreciate really good music have their eyes pop out of their heads the first time they hear LOVEBITES or G.S./ DOLL$BOXX or BAND MAID.
I'm guessing that Gacharic Spin prefers to have the freedom to do its own thing, rather than kowtow to a big label like Victor, and therefore are okay with a smallish, selective fan-base. It's a tricky balance, isn't it? You go for popularity and get pigeonholed into a genre; or, you comply with your label and end up feeling like you don't have adequate control over your artistic output. Self producing their last LP took plenty of courage and risks, as did performing mostly new songs on their 13th anniversary special.

How does she change the tone of her guitar without stepping on pedals? Does she have a Caddie?
All programmed through the midi amp as far as I understand but I'm sure some actual guitar/musician people can correct/elaborate.
