Out of all the lightbars/single domes I've ever used, the Code 3 SD's were my favorite, followed by the Federal Twinsonic's. Liked them better than even the Whelen LED's I ended my career using. The SD's would've been better though if they had placed a 3rd bulb on the inside rotator. I've seen some others with a 3rd bulb but am unsure if this was sold that way or the owners added it. Also saw one person had modified his so the right side (facing) rotated counter-clockwise and the left side clockwise.
I love the SD's too! The reason that the outer rotators had 3 bulbs and the inner ones had 2, was to create a more randomized flash pattern. 3-and-3 would have been fairly symmetrical, while a 3-and-2 set provides more uneven flashes, which helps reduce the "off time".
@@AdamsLights - Which ones had 3 bulbs? the only ones I saw, unless modified were 2 and 2 though the 2 on the inside were right after each other. This is the style I've always seen and used myself. Even the Federal Streethawk's gave more flashes on the inside rotators by making them spin faster than the outside. th-cam.com/video/TTu-YeqjnFs/w-d-xo.html
Connect the big black wire to your negative post on your battery (or power supply). Then, start touching 1 wire at a time to the positive terminal until you find out what each one does. It'll take you 10 minutes, and you'll have it down.
Voltage? 12v... same as a typical car battery. In order to make them operate outside of a vehicle (like my collection), you have to have a power inverter, that transforms the 120v AC power in your home, to 12v DC power that the lights need to operate.
@@AdamsLights ive got a light bar just like your one in this clip, ive had it for 5 years and still havent seen it work ,ive got a mate whos a police officer hear in new zealand and hes gonna get one of those batteries and hopfully will get it to work . :)
Sort of.... Some Jetsonic bars had a "Smart" feature, which essentially stopped the rotators from rotating, and forced them into a rear-only flash mode. Very similar concept, except the Jetsonic came about 5 years later than the SD bar.
Me again lol. Can the passenger side have a front and rear flashers as well ? I think it would look awesome if it had 2 rear amber flashers and 2 front flashers or 1 flash/1 steady burn
It definitely was ahead of it's time! Yeah, the AdvantEdge is another one of my favorite bars. In case you missed the video on that bar, here it is: th-cam.com/video/uQ__0j9zEvg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Sam! Honestly, it doesn't really matter! I believe there are 6 functions, so any switchbox that has 6 switches, and you are good to go. My entire collection is switched using a couple dozen Federal Signal SW300 boxes. Check out my Playlist called "Lightbar Collection Wiring", and you can see how my switches are set up. Thanks for watching!!
Holy crap! You definitely hit a jackpot with this bar. Revolutionary technology for its time and a CA spec? That’s a keeper for sure.
I agree, it's an awesome bar for sure! Thanks for watching!!
That steady burn!!
It's f**cking huge!!!
WOW!! Amazingly bar! Just... wow!
Thank you!! I agree!!
I’m hyped to see more
I've got more! Unfortunately, I just don't have a place to mount them :(
That is definitely a bad ass light bar!
Thanks, I totally agree!!

I knew about the Code 3 SD2000/SD4000 but not this awesome treasure!
Thanks, it's a rarity indeed!
I have a CA spec that I’m cleaning up, trying to find a wiring diagram or at least what wires do what because it’s not working

It's like Code 3's version of the Twinsonic, but with more...
pretty much, yep!
@@AdamsLights would love to see the rear of the lightbar and it's functions.
Twin Sonic on Steroids! Love love love that bar!!
George from South Carolina
Yep! thanks for watching!
what type of battery voltage is best for making a typical light bar work please?

Indiana State Police had this feature back in the 90's with their Jet Sonic bars.

Could it? yes. But that wasn't the spec at the time.
Way ahead of it's time I want that advantedge

Tenho uma pequena coleção aqui no Brasil, alguém com algum modelo para a venda?
I don't sell, sorry.
I like your police light bar on bottom
Thanks!
That. Is. Amazing. A Facebook comment brought me here
Welcome to the channel! Feel free to look around!
By any chance do collect sirens
Not really. If you look through my videos, there is ONE video about the siren I have, but that's it.
Decent!
Thanks! Decent is exactly what I was shooting for!
WAIT... those red lights were amber!!?? WHAT?
ALSO: I would like to point out the fact that one of the lights are not rotating.
It's not supposed to... it's the California steady-red.
Amber towards the rear... red on the front.
Change the theme song to CHiPS
No thank you.
