So why are they not allowed to be charged for this damage to our bushland snd national parks?
Well Vic police did pepper spray a granny during covid, so nothing surprises me from that state. Cant find who fired bombed the synagogue but can send a helicopter to book a 4w driver 🙄
The bit you said at the end about them closing stuff and using 4wders as the reason to build on is spot on, Happened a few times on the east coast for them to open sand mines on the beaches.

Couple years back, North of Lancelin, WA me and my mates went fishing overnight (sleep in the car). The next morning there was a chopper that pasted us. After 20 mins the Ranger came to us and told us we cannot camp on the sand dunes and if we didn't go, we would've gotten a fine. Great point Ronny, locking gates is just locking the good 4wders out, who help maintain the track and take out rubbish. Not to mention enjoy the place! We are here in the VHC and there is no signs of this where we are, but have seen 4WD targetting at Mansfield, no choppers.. We know a few helicopter musterers and they do like to fly close to cars to spook them. Other then that, the High Country is great because the area is so large and all tracks are open in the right season (now). No camp fees either here in the scrub. Like the podcast fellas keep it up 🍻
The shit thing is, it's the minority that is ruining it for the majority and unfortunately, it's too hard to police the minority in such a vast area, so the govt goes with the easy solution of locking up gates. What is so frustrating is we (the govt and community) want to put a stop to the same thing, dickheads destroying the bush. Unfortunately, the govt is so big, it no longer consults with community and instead dictates to the community.
Look at some places in America for instance. They have dirt bike races on beaches and within a day or two the beach is back to normal. Look at Lancelin in WA. The dunes have had dirt bikes riding around in them for 50 years that I know of. Also 4wd’s for 50years that I know of. And the dunes up until recently have been fine. I say up until recently because, for a number of years lately, mining trucks have removed millions of tons of sand. Which I’m sure this mining of the dunes will not be mentioned in the destruction of said dunes. It will be accredited to excessive vehicle access.
They take sand of beaches and cart it to say melbourne to make it pretty .we sell millions of tons of sand for export .most of these island going under water have be caught selling there sand .there's a documentary going around .so it's sell the sand cause flooding cry climate change get financial help .nice
Yeap. Go for a drive on a long weekend and see how many heavily modified 4WD’s are there and how some see it is a challenge to go places that are locked up to recover from the last twists that wrecked the place. It’s a small percentage but they do wreck it for all. If we, as 4WDers, held our compatriots to account, it’d be self policed, not policed with court outcomes. The twits with modded 4WD and ridiculous mud tyres and piss poor driving techniques do so much damage that Parks authorities just lock it up. Come on people, stop seeing the bush as something to conquer. See it as a place to explore and respect it!
Well thats a load of shit, it should NEVER EVER be a police issue where daddy government is going in to arrest and charge you. Our tax money should be going to far better usages of time than to target modded 4x4s vehicles and users who are terrible at offroading. Give me a fkn break.

in SA there is a big crack down on the Robe Beachport track, people leaving too much rubbish in the dunes, the private owners got the shits and closed it down...
A big problem that started 5-10 years ago was the implementation of hoon laws. That pushed a lot of those hoons out into the bush with the drunk burnouts, the Soot For Days, straight pipe TD42, non-engineer-able 4-inch lift with 35's, Just Send It type of people into the areas we love, after they were ejected out of the Summernats/Drags Community. I think so long as your bus is Straight & modified well you personally wont run into problems. I also think the the Gov has better things to do & should be concentrating on that.
I was recently in the bush in Mundaring, WA in my 4wd. Haven't driven through there for about 9 years. Not a kilometre off the bitumen it started, fridges, beds, washing machines, bags of garbage, building materials, roofing iron, cars, engines, batteries, all kinds of stuff dumped in the bush. It went on for many km and there was plenty of evidence that people had been tearing up the tracks, huge ruts, damaged trees that had been used for winching, parts of CV joints and oil soaked into the dirt where repairs had been done or attempted. I was really surprised at the amount of junk. On the way back, I stopped in at the Mundaring shire offices and police station and showed them a few photos. The police said they were aware of illegal dumping and were on the look out for offenders (Not looking too hard, I expect) but at the Shire offices, I spoke at length to a park ranger. He told me that some signs had been, or were in the process of being removed, which directed people to lookouts accessed by 4wd vehicles and that plans were in the pipeline to permanently close tracks to the public. He said that they receive constant feedback from FESA about the deteriorating condition of fire tracks/access roads that are being damaged by 4wds, some of which are now impassable by their trucks. Thus creating obvious dangers to the public in the event of bush fires. So, a minority of people are indeed ruining it for everyone. Those of us who see ourselves as weekend adventurers and like to venture off-road occasionally will soon have to travel further afield to even get off road, thanks to these environmental vandals.
That pisses me off every time I go 4x4, driving up there once a month 😤 it cost 50 bucks to go to the tip. These are the pricks that destroy our responsible 4x4 adventures
Absolutely, this situation is happening at some level all over the country. If we listen to this podcaster and his mates we should all just sit around with our thumbs up our arses and let them continue trashing our bush😤
Most places accessible by 4x4, are chewed to bit, oh look a steep hill, let's see who can get to the top, far more fun than the track, chew chew chew, wrecked hill, total bellends, By the way, I am a 4x4 off road enthusiast, used to race, used to trial, now just explore

In 68% of fatal accidents involving 4wds the vehicle has been illegally modified in some way, mainly suspension/tyres and it has been a contributing factor in loss of control or braking/crash avoidance.
A good start would be to stop any tyre size bigger than what the CFA utes normally use. Prob 31's or maybe 33's. If the tracks get chopped up by 35's. 37's then the fire tracks are useless for the CFA which they are primarily meant for.
@@rvrski1 Why's that? Perhaps you're just a rebel without a clue and don't like to follow the rules either? Nothing new here.
Its a real shame , as a hiker I see all the crap all the time . The bush littered with Bundy Rum cans . The other day I found a heap of rubbish left in the bush I loaded it up in my ute and brought it home . I feel the introduction of the heavy mud tyres have caused more problems re access . Once nice tracks are nothing more than huge bog holes ! I think designated private 4x4 properties might be a option so they can do there extreme off road testing and driving there .
As a recreational pilot can you imagine the things I have seen from the air from massive dope crops to illegal mining and even the odd log truck sneaking down a track I have flown helicopters over a lot of the high country surveying and just to clock up my hours I seen a village of hippys in one location plenty of rubbish near by the habituated area they need to put down the bong and think for real police resources are not going to allow this
I'm not into 4x4s my self but the government is getting carried away with the nanny state crap. With governments there is always some sort of goal and sometimes it's to develop a weaker more obedient population. It also means we have neglected our own political responsibility as in not enough of the right people getting involved in politics (pulling the short straw rather than wanting to be a celebrity)
I have a non mod fwd and have a number of fwds , driven extensively in the high country, I love seeinghishandy work young guys modifying 1:59 their fwds even extensively, providing they are safe and dont hurt them selves let them enjoy themselves

If it carries on like this we won’t be able to leave the city limits
I agree with you. But the issue is that a small percentage of people are doing the wrong thing. Dumping rubbish, damage tracks, etc. Same as scooter riders for example. The majority do the right thing, but the few numb nuts that ride down the middle of the road or on freeways, speed down footpaths and crash into people. It's the small percentage that is running it for everyone.
100% it is only the ones doing the wrong thing are the loudest complainers. Also the ones responsible for disrespect of the environment, tracks and campsites in general are also largely responsible for track n site closures

True my nephew service's there machine's it's total nonsense I have myself flowen my brother's 720 Bell over the hi country it's turbine prop and was blue until recently
Locked gates in the bush are a danger to man and bush alike; in times of fire, the fire fighters are prohibited from cutting through gates and the locks are protected from using bolt cutters; This has been a real issue on NSW mid south coast for many years; The fire fighters have to wait for a NPWS ranger to unlock gates; Often the fire truck driver has to reverse back to where they can turn around to avoid becoming toast as the fire creeps towards them; The crews become escapees instead of fighting the fires; Our dirt bike club offered to volunteer 'scouts' to guide fire trucks; Team(s) of 3, UHF and Chainsaw; We had good knowledge of where the gates are and could find ways around them by using other less popular, hard to identify tracks; New gates were being erected near on every month or so so when a bike riders encounters them, it's not hard to turn around or use UHF to stop the trucks from using that track; We could also have cleared 'storm' fallen trees that stop the trucks in their tracks as the crews have to waste valuable time moving or cutting trees across their path; This very workable proposal was rejected by both CFS (NSW CFA) and NPWS; Summary; Gates are not erected to protect the bush or people nor are fires meant to be controlled; I knew a few CFS blokes and they were genuinely fearful of being trapped at a locked gate with nowhere to turn to; Every call out was a mystery tour as new gates were being erected by NPWS who failed to let CFS know where the new gates are or provide keys to the gates; This is a major issue.
True, and you rarely see a mine site restored. The company goes bust and phoenix’s elsewhere. Meanwhile the bush users , mainly 4wd owners get blamed for wrecking the bush?
They have always been against 4wders in the vic high country. 15 years ago you couldnt drive through mansfield with a modified 4wd, so you took the back streets to get through undetected. We dont know how easy we have it in WA. Enjoy it while it lasts. One day bolt cutters and plate covers will need to be part of your kit for most 4wders. If only they put as many resources into car theft or other serious crimes.
Too many tracks and camp sites are being destroyed by people who don’t care about the mountains.. Too many people with 24/7 4 wheel drive attitudes to our State Forrest’s and other people’s enjoyment. The amount of rubbish left behind and tracks destroyed is disgusting.
Good thing this is being brought to the attention of more people. However, this is a topic that goes beyond 4x4 driving. It's part of a broad crackdown on your civil liberties. It's been happening for years. Firearm owners know it all too well. They'll keep taking until we have nothing
If anyone has watched the last DMW video (speeding on the beach with his family side by side with another 4WD and nearly came unstuck or worse) and the comments in the video you can see why this is happening and the social media influencer industry has to take some responsibility for the crackdown.
I’d like to ask a question I watch other 4wd show . Now they seem to drive into bog hole get stuck or plough through when there seems to be a track right beside the bog hole they could drove on. My question wouldn’t this be thing that mite close a track where they keep destroy the hole Evan more . I know it’s fun for them but is this abusing the track ? Going on what you were just talking about but they put it on u-tube.
I think the first thing you guys should have done BEFORE going to air on this topic and expressing opinions is, GET YUR FACTS STRAIGHT. Pontificating on the subject without the facts is pretty stupid in my view. All you did was speculate and express opinions based on that speculation. You’re an online influencer Ronny. As such you have a responsibility to research the topic diligently, set out the FACTS and then critique the proposed actions of the authorities and support their efforts to protect the bush from morons and/or offer sensible alternatives. Having a random discussion expressing a bunch of suppositions and conjectures is not informative in the least, nor is it offering any sensible proposals for future action.
I'm ex forestry and we spent hundreds of thousands a year cleaning up rubbish, repairing vandalism. We had thousands of liters of fuel stolen, multi-million dollars machines broken into and vandalized. Regularly !!! After years of banging your head on the wall. Management said one day "Lock up the tracks, problem solved" Overnight, great slabs of forest were locked away from 4x4's It's always the same............a very irresponsible minority spoils it for the majority.............. AND !!!! the minority include does include normal people who do know better. One of the worst vandalisms I saw was a group of 4x4's, (mum, dad and the kids)) tearing up a freshly laid $1/2M airstrip and literally destroyed it spending hours doing wheelies.
in South Australia,a new thing has come out were we have police, rangers and a helicopter to patrol the beach/sand dune areas.. There are genuine 4wders who do the right thing but unfortunately the ones that don't give a shit ruin it. Definitely agree though the helicopter is just beyond a joke.
Unfortunately we allow the bureaucrats to keep introducing these draconian restrictions because the public don't push back and then they keep slipping in more restrictions in the name of environmental protection.
A good example is the "aggravated trespass"laws in NSW. They were introduced alongside the definition changes of "inclosed lands" to combat so called animal rights terrorism against farms. Problem is, these can now be used against 4wders and trail bike riders. 3 mates on registered dirt bikes can be charged with aggravated trespass and face $23k in fines and/or 3 years in prison just for being in the wrong place.
It sounds like you guys are having the same problems we had in North America (and still have on a lower level). People going out and trashing places... AND leaving all their trash when they go. Then us true enthusiasts pay the price. And with regards to the "single vehicle" comment ... I could see that. Sooooo many people go out, buy an offroader with no experience what so ever, then think they can run a rock garden or plow threw a few feet of snow (I'm Canadian). Then they either wipe out and have to get rescued... maybe even air lifted out. Or! They just get stranded, stuck... broken... then have to get rescued. Hearing that more often up here.
BALLARAT bush land does have security cameras. I have walked through the bushland there, and there are signs Saying "Welcome to such and such land, smile for the cameras" But I was told that is because people are dumping rubbish and burning, stolen cars. But at anytime of the day and the night there is at least one chopper doing a grid system style fly over Ballarat almost everyday.
Always the same old thing, the few bogans ruin it for everyone, these are the same bogans that leave all their shit stained toilet paper all over the place, throw their beer bottles everywhere, we all know who they are, the ones with the loud music, 10 slabs in the canopy, go out half pissed tearing up the tracks, they don't give a shit about anything except themself then are the first to complain.
Generally speaking it's always the Locals or more so the "traditional owners of the land" that act like this. Genuine tourists or people coming from out of state to wheel the High country are a lot more respectful.
Sorry but that is not a true or factual comment. Blaming indigenous land owners is following the right wing path of attacking indigenous rights. Unfortunately it is mostly the bogans following there hero’s on TH-cam (who behave badly) that cause the problem.

You just have to have a look at some of the idiots that have 4wd channels that do the hooning and ripping up tracks just for the fun of it.. I used to be a sub to several of these channels but have unsub'd due to them doing this sort of thing that you are talking about and posting it on social media for all to see.. these idiots should be sent fines and made to repair or pay the cost of the refurbishment of the tracks or area that they are destroying... I am a member of a club and we often see the results of these idiots.. rubbish left and tracks made unnavigable due to the large tyre tracks made by these idiots that have a lot higher than the legal height of a 4wd and huge tyres. I agree with what Ronnie said about closing tracks it also stops us from going on these tracks to help maintain them.. Parks Vic and other authorities need to rethink their strategies as the hoons and idiots will always find a way around the locked gates and restrictions.
TH-cam wasn’t around when they closed 4WDing to use, in the Dunes north of Perth in the late 2000s. Nor was it around when they closed many of the camping tracks in the Kimberly’s in early 2010s, some Kakadu tracks in late 2000s , Simpson Desert around 2011, Cape York etc etc So your accusing You Tubers is false.
Everyone has an opinion so this is mine..Cops have been sending our requests to appear for road worthy inspections in Victoria for 10+ years. I received one driving my commodore on air suspension down low. Cop stated he saw the vehicle and rego but has more important things to do than pull me over on the spot. 2nd is that the main people who brought this up are “influencers” who have wild modded/fancy paint,37s…they like to say it is all legal and engineered but why do they strip half the mods off for the inspection? They were also in the Otways when this happened..look at what a mess those tracks are and can understand why cameras would be put up. The same group got defected by off road riding police a few years earlier and guess what? It was same Xmas time of year. Anyone who has been around the car scene long enough knows the risks of driving a modded vehicle over holidays/long weekends. We take the risk and win some loose some. keep the lift under 3” , tyres 35 or smaller and no or minimal poke and you’ll be fine 99% the time.
Victoria The Police State This should be the new slogan on Vic number plates. It’s sad that Victoria got screwed by Dan for so many years, yet, even after the idiot got the flick the new mob are doubling down on the stupid.
The problem is all these blokes filming mods and not getting engineered then the rest of us get picked on as a result. Some 4wdrivers airing the times cars have rolled doesn't help keep tracks open, It would be good to have a few 4wd parks but there's not enough around the country for people to access. Then you add all the rubbish that scumbags leave for others to clean. Its about time people thought alot more about the content they're putting up and if it will impact negatively on the rest of the 4wd community. Watching some of these vids gives people the wrong impression of what's legal or not and also what's acceptable and not. Most people are just doing the right thing and then get tarred with the same brush due to some of the things that get shown. Merry Christmas guys.
Unfortunately with Mankind , since the beginning there where people doing the right things and other oxygen thieves doing always the wrong thing's. This can be applied across all jobs , trades etc what a Mess ! .
I do know of some recreational pilot's that fly helicopter's in the hi country both machine's are turbine one get ranger and the other 720 bell it was blue last year
I was in QLD with a mate and he drove around some water on one side of the road, i asked him why and he said it was over a metre deep, a bit of a trap the big 4wders had set up for ordinary people. It was in fact a mantrap and a very good one, they think its funny.
Same rhing happens here in WA. I was recently on some bush tracks and it hasn't rained for some time here, so I came across some huge, deep holes in the tracks that would have been filled with water during the wet months, just waiting for unsuspecting 4wds. They were dry and I still had to go around them due to the depth. (I have a stock standard 4wd.)
People are going to drink and drive. Why not give them a place to drink and drive 🤣. How about don’t accept people are going to do the wrong thing and hold them accountable. Perhaps car impoundment or crush a car if someone deliberately goes out on closed tracks. Or if they are ripping donuts in the bush destroying vegetation. Likewise if they drink and 4wd under the influences.
When is off road off road. If you are off road then you should be left alone as they should not have any grounds to fine you as you are off road. Like a dirt bike on the same track with no rego, it is fine because it is off road. Where is the line you cross to be off road? They keep pushing and over reaching and people need to push back.
Using helicopters at $10,000 an hour to police something which isn’t even a thing. Go and spend some time and money on real crime. Youth crime and policing the junkies in any suburb. This country is totally fucked.
i was up torrumbary this week first time since 1999 and i can tell you the trenches dug into the track are amazing because back then there was nothing of the sort . 4wds have wrecked the joint .
First. Then it spreads like cancer. NSW, se qld, Tassie and SA are are all undergoing the gradual 80fication of rural roads, one phone zombie or drunk crashed and took themselves out of the gene pool?, make it 80!' Punish the 99% with a longer commute to work or school, because of the actions of one fool. Started in Vic in the 2000s. Then north qld, wa, and nt next decade. Common factor? Labor.
It has nothing to do with anything except control. Wait until we need a new license to 4x4. Like SA needing a new license for powerful cars. Which will com to vic to. Money and control. The economy is in such bad shape they need to bring it back somehow
Victoria Police use Leonardo AW139 helicopters. They have a top speed of 165 knots / 306 km & can stay up for (almost) 6 hours & have a range of (about) 1250km. Those things cost about $5k an hour to keep & fly. Considering where they're based, time & distance is one thing. To spend more time in the air versus actual distance flown is another. They drink more fuel hovering. A smarter bet would be to have cars at the end of tracks or certain intersections & pull up anything they deem "inappropriate". They'll always find more than (potentially) dodgy mod's. Opening with: "This was sent in by one of our listeners..." sounds a little like "trust me, bro...". An actual, checkable, source would be nice. Has anyone seen this activity & filmed it? Why would cops burn cash the state doesn't have with a helicopter, when drones operated from vehicles nearby, are a much cheaper alternative?
The amount of money going into 4WD mods must be huge. The industry is enjoying a long-running boom all over Australia. Ronny says why don't governments provide places for activities which trash the bush and threaten track closures. With the money they're prepared to pay for building their rigs, what's to stop the extreme 4WD community from buying private land in environments that can handle the abuse, and then they can wallow in their own mess. And yes, use trail cams to catch and punish the low life that seems to enjoy trashing our state and national park tracks.
Because we shouldn't have too Pay to enjoy our own backyard. The police don't care what tracks are driven or "ruined" they want to book you for revenue raising purposes... sorry I mean "illegal" or "unsafe modifications" The tracks being ruined is honestly caused by nothing more than inexperienced drivers with overly capable vehicles. Blame social media for that. There's no way too stop that except for making more resources available for people to access and learn how to wheel properly. If this was truely about driver safety then the 20k the police drop on sending out a helicopter to monitor 4x4s in the high country would be better utilised to run FREE and informative Driver training courses. Maybe the police would even build a good reputation and could earn back some respect... but what do I know I sell rocks
@@dalemyers119 Agreed we shouldn't have to pay to use our backyard. But would you tear up your own backyard lawns and garden for fun?? The number of people who use many of the harder tracks is not a big percentage of 4WDers, and a smaller percentage again who do most of the damage. For this group, it should be user pays, be it by fining them for bad behaviour or banning them from public tracks altogether. The public should not have to subsidise these hoons. And responsible 4WDers should not have to see tracks being closed because of it. So bring on the cameras. I don't care where the revenue goes. Its the deterrent that matters.

Other then that, the High Country is great because the area is so large and all tracks are open in the right season (now). No camp fees either here in the scrub. Like the podcast fellas keep it up 🍻
It's easier to police law abiding citizens
Its no secret they are locking up the bush bit by bit (in Vic anyway), this is just another tool they are using to accomplish that goal.

The usual tyranny in Aus can't have fun anywhere here anymore

I've been part of 2 clean up days up there. I was amazed at the amount of crap we pulled out of there. Car bodies included.
So the ranger was at the air conditioned office on his arse😢typical gravy train bludger
Most places accessible by 4x4, are chewed to bit, oh look a steep hill, let's see who can get to the top, far more fun than the track, chew chew chew, wrecked hill, total bellends, By the way, I am a 4x4 off road enthusiast, used to race, used to trial, now just explore

There is a war on modded cars and 4wds at the moment. It's ridiculous. They contribute nothing to the road toll.
It is called policing for profit.
In 68% of fatal accidents involving 4wds the vehicle has been illegally modified in some way, mainly suspension/tyres and it has been a contributing factor in loss of control or braking/crash avoidance.
@jimmcfee3488 and how much of that 68% is driver behaviour and not the tyres, probably like 99%.
The vehicles are probably in breech of the Australian Design Rules.. This is one reason why they're targeted.
@@gooseknack which is more bullshit
A good start would be to stop any tyre size bigger than what the CFA utes normally use. Prob 31's or maybe 33's. If the tracks get chopped up by 35's. 37's then the fire tracks are useless for the CFA which they are primarily meant for.
I think its Parks and forest fire managment (department of name change) not CFA and they use GVM upgraded Landcruises most likely running 35's

What about the mining industry, they absolutely destroy the environment, I know it’s not exactly the same but the rules should apply to all.

I'm ex forestry and we spent hundreds of thousands a year cleaning up rubbish, repairing vandalism.
We had thousands of liters of fuel stolen, multi-million dollars machines broken into and vandalized. Regularly !!!
After years of banging your head on the wall. Management said one day "Lock up the tracks, problem solved"
Overnight, great slabs of forest were locked away from 4x4's
It's always the same............a very irresponsible minority spoils it for the majority..............
AND !!!! the minority include does include normal people who do know better.
One of the worst vandalisms I saw was a group of 4x4's, (mum, dad and the kids)) tearing up a freshly laid $1/2M airstrip and literally destroyed it spending hours doing wheelies.
Must have not been made very well if it could be destroyed by a couple of motorbike in a couple of hours

Unfortunately we allow the bureaucrats to keep introducing these draconian restrictions because the public don't push back and then they keep slipping in more restrictions in the name of environmental protection.
100% correct

Generally speaking it's always the Locals or more so the "traditional owners of the land" that act like this.
Genuine tourists or people coming from out of state to wheel the High country are a lot more respectful.

There’s a lot of bad behaviour by 4wders in the Robe Beachport area hence there have been closures
I've given up on 4wding brought a boat and just go fishing.
When is off road off road. If you are off road then you should be left alone as they should not have any grounds to fine you as you are off road. Like a dirt bike on the same track with no rego, it is fine because it is off road. Where is the line you cross to be off road? They keep pushing and over reaching and people need to push back.

The police don't care what tracks are driven or "ruined" they want to book you for revenue raising purposes... sorry I mean "illegal" or "unsafe modifications"
The tracks being ruined is honestly caused by nothing more than inexperienced drivers with overly capable vehicles.
Its the deterrent that matters.
just pure overreaction
