I remember watching this game over at my friend's; he fell asleep, so I was watching the game by myself. When Magic hit the shot to win, I exploded, jumping up and down waking him in the process! What a game!
Thank goodness for TH-cam . For every NBA game on T.V. today they should play 1 game like this.So the kid's today could see what real team winning basketball is ! It's way more exciting when you see passing and real defense. Not dribble , dribble , crossover, 25ft 3 pt shot. The players in these games could actually shoot, and pass, and run the floor.Sure maybe you don't get as many dunks. But that's because these teams prided themselves on not giving up easy layups or dunks. People weren't afraid to get dunked on they tried to blk it no matter what. I will always love bball. But damn I miss how the game was played at it's peak in the 80's

I love it when they say Larry didn't play defense. How does a dude get 5 steals in one game and doesn't try on defense? Nay. Trying was never Legends problem.
No talking on the court...no hugging opposing players at end of the game...Lakers/Celtics 80's rivalry was unmatched.....Cavaliers/Warriors today cannot match
I am 40 years old. I was 7 in 1987 & I'll always remember Magic & Bird, Lakers & Celtics. Bird was poor growing up & he was a scrapper. My father was poor growing up, that's why my father loved Bird.
Never mind that Magic hit the game winner just like he did 5 months prior to this which of course is similar. But the whole game was kinda the same as well. Both games the Celtics took command in the 3rd and got the leads to 16 in the Finals and I believe 13 here only to let it slip away. And just like the Finals the Celtics had a 6 point lead late in the game. Just heartbreaking as a Celtics fan
Lenny Bias should have been on the Celts....Damn what I wouldn't give to have seen him play with the Celtics...I think there'd b 20/21 banners in the rafters and Lenny one of the greatest to have ever played...If we could just butterfly effect that night in the dorm room and tell Len, don't do it son, please don't do it...

Magnetic Ball definitely was in Existence, you see the casual shot attempts, typically low percentage shots, just dropping in and impossible buzzet beaters, Bird began pretty much only 3 pt and fall away shooting, ala Kobe, Jordan, now Harden & Curry. Post play was eliminated in favor of 3 point magnetically influenced shooting. No Stress, just let it fly. You can feel it if you are tuned in to it, different Vibe, I would say around 1986 Testing began, Bird 60 pt. game, duel, Bird and Dominique, it feels false, the game is no longer played the way it was intended. Too many strange bounces on the rim

I always loved "Bird and the Celt's.", but that Magic and the Lakers were right there with em' Toe to Toe!!!... wished the Celt's could have pulled it off, definitely a couple of questionable call's, but, you can't cry over spilled Milk, and, either way, talk about a Game!... Thanks "Larry" and thanks Magic' for all those fantastic games and memories!!! It will never be this good again, not in my Book anyways...
Worthy is wearing 00 instead of #42, kind of like when Michael Jordan 🐐 wore #12 instead of 23 against the Magic in 1990 because his jersey was stolen.
Thats how alot of games go, usually when someone makes a game winner, they let the clock keep going. It sucks cause the time is supposed to stop when the ball goes in the basket
If you go back, can you watch all five games of the recent NBA championship games. There is not as much action and incredible plays as just in this game alone. All five of the NBA championship games this year were terrible. Blowouts. No competition. Just people shooting three points from 50 feet away. Terrible offenses. Everybody just sits around the perimeter somebody drives and they dish out for a three-point play. This game on itself was better than all five of those games. This is when basketball was fun and real.
Horrible call @ end a game when Ainge missed free-throw...Boston got the rebound but somehow they gave LA timeout when he never had possession...One of worst calls I've ever seen in an NBA game and thats saying a lot cuz their refs are pathetic but unfortunately pathetic by design as we learned Stern told them ho to call games...NBA is no better than WWE...Bird was magnificent and Boston won that game I don't give 2 shits what the refs said at end to give them the game...What a f n joke
Bias’s horrible death changed the fortunes of late 80’s-early 90’s Celtics history..the problem KC had then Chris Ford wasn’t in the regular season that was still pretty easy..problem for them in the post-season after the last Championship was depth and when/if they could afford to substitute for the big three without getting killed
