Holy cow, 29K for that empty truck and it wasn't actually new. As an auto broker for nearly 2 decades, I have witnessed some terrible things from small dealerships but that's embarrassing and pathetic from such a large group. Always check the history, your perfect looking car may have been a previous flood vehicle or a rental and you can't see the damage. That place believes they shouldn't be nice to their customers. Did that guy forget who keeps the lights on? This story is disturbing.
Why didn't they get shut down and locked up? Beat everyone one of them down and make them pay back every cent plus time wasted. This is a bigger crime than any black kid stealing a bike. But "legally" white collar crime is justified. Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank and he can rob the world.

Autonation is a crooked business. My dad took his Prius to an autonation Toyota dealership in northern Virginia for a service. When they were inspecting the car they tore off the door seal and unplugged the high beams and made us pay for it.
AutoNation is a crooked business. More than crooked. Bought a car from them and when it failed 2 months after I bought it, they didn't help me out one single bit. Even though they claimed I had a 3 month 3 thousand miles warranty. (Which also turned out to be a lie told to me so I'd purchase the vehicle.)
This is where the State AG's office has to step in, file a suit against the dealership for Consumer Fraud, so they get their license suspended, fined, pay legal and court costs, etc. Unfortunately, despite these State laws in place, most States don't take any action or impose fines to protect consumers. This is why unscrupulous dealers get away with this kind of nonsense.
Price adjustment my butt! He should have pushed the issue and made them give him the vehicle for free. A jury would have made this happen and he should have demanded a court hearing. This same thing happened to my grandfather's plumbing company on CO over 30 years ago. He bought a "new" van from one of the Chevy dealers and when he went to register it they said the VIN was from a van a year old. When his lawyer got done with the dealership my grandfather's company had 2 brand new vans for free.
should of gave it to him for free? hahahaha...another delusional comment. And the rest of your comment is full of shit. How can your grandfather go register his new van? The dealer has it registered for you. You have no clue WTF you are talking about. Even if he did, which dosent happen, what did he give to the DMV to register the van? If the van was used the dealer would have to give him a title. The title shows the year right on it. Fuck, you cant even lie correctly kid. lol

savagedragon79 thats only applicable in certain states. In other states, and all of Canada, its quite different. When financing a car, you still own the car and title to it as the only business you have with the bank/lender is simply a financial product/obligation. If you default on that obligation then they can go after your assets. Lastly, to the OP's comment, even in those states and Canadian provinces, its not common for the title/ownership and paperwork to be done the same day as the MTO/DMV typically closes much earlier than the dealership and its easier to do a bunch of cars paperwork at once (perhaps going twice a week), instead of going there every single time a car is sold.
My dad used to work for AutoNation corporate, and all I can say is the store, its regional management, and corporate management has done a terrible job by this guy. Not the way things used to be when he was there
My fiance bought a fiat 500 from a Nissan dealer and the car we knew was in an small accident but it turns out they removed a bunch of safety features. Unethical businesses
David Bedwell yeah in my opinion anything with more than the delivery mileage is a used car to me. Anyway why would you want to buy a brand new car when you can buy a 1 year old used example that has allready depreciated quite a lot.
David Bedwell my moms 2015 Nissan Sentra had 12 miles on Delivery before buying it because it was delivered by truck and then it has to be driven from the location the truck dropped the car off at to the dealer
Every new vehicle has been used. You can never buy one with zero miles. Once its registered in somebody's name its becomes used miles has nothing to do with it being new or used
It's clear they don't give a rat's ass about the law from the response @4:08 . They broke the law. No grey area. And they still have the audacity to talk shit during their "apology"?
Car dealerships have that much power, can sell a used car as new yet when you purchase it it's automatically used? This system of purchasing vehicles is very corrupt
They violated the law clear and simple! They belong losing their sales license! They are full of crap on selling it as new and they belong in prison shit bags! Auto Nation should be out of business period!
I have a friend who worked for Chrysler. His parents bought a new Chrysler from a HUGE dealer and their shiny NEW buildings. The dealer did NOT give them the price that is supposed to be a "FIXED" discount for an employees friends and family. My friend flew down to Tampa and talked to the dealer. They did NOTHING. He made a few phone calls and Chrysler flew a lady down and she found that this was ongoing. She SHUT THE DEALERSHIP down INSTANTLY and PERMANENTLY on the spot. Now THAT'S some pull!
a Brand New Car, to me that is It has less then 2 miles on it period. Hasnt been off the Lot, Cause if it left the lot for those test drives. That means the car looses a good % of its value right there. Also, Dont Buy Nissan. Buy Better, Be Smart, Buy Ford.
ha ha ... if you have to ask your girlfriend if she's a virgin and she says yes ... you need to ask her if she is a tRUMPubliKKKlan ... then you will know she is lying
If it has more than 10 miles on it it's been used to much to be considered new. Even if it hasn't been sold to somebody and was just used by the dealers to drive around and get lunch, that is now considered a used vehicle in my books.
Johnny B's Garage So if you test drive a car, then change your mind - the dealer has to sell it as used? Naah, that doesn't work, & there may not be a demo equipped the way the customer wants, so cars sitting on the lot are commonly test driven.
Lol agreed, good friend is a master certified Nissan tech. He and his family drive Toyota's . When asked if you know so much about Nissan's why do you drive Toyota's ? He says you just answered your own question lol.
I bought a brand new 2013 Nissan Xterra pro 4X in 2014 now I'm wondering if it was used and also sold it for new, I noticed the tires didn't look very new the speedometer had 300 miles but then 3 weeks later they had to replace the hole cluster and it brought it back to zero and they also took more than 3 weeks and Wouden't send me the paper work This was Viva Nissan in East El Paso Texas.
Gabriel Uribe you know you got that pit in your stomach,, now you know it's reality,, anytime when they reset the odometer or change out the speedometer, it's got to be noted on paperwork and it goes with the vehicle,, even if it's a recall it's got to be noted and it goes with the vehicle that's what the recall has been applied to the owners should the vehicle be sold.
Dealers will frequently use vehicles as loaners or as salesperson’s cars without officially titling them. Then they sell them as “new” because they’ve never been titled. Meanwhile, any number of strangers may have been abusing them for several months. I once went to a dealer to look at a Mustang Mach 1 only to find out that the sales manager had been using it as his personal car.
I'm so confused. I always been told. when you drive a new car off the car lot you automatically lose $10.000 off it's value. so idk how that's possible for them to do that.
Kyle Clap why not more than 10 miles? There are alot of cars that have 75, 100 mile son them that are new. Example, you want a car your dealer does not have. They say they can get it in a few days. Do you know where they are getting that car from? Another dealer on trade. So your dealer would drive a brand new dealer car to that other dealer and trade it for the other new car that you wanted and drive it back. There are your miles. Happens all the time.
THE BOSS there is good used cars out there , however if I buy a new car I want it new for me a new car has less then 10 miles , if they have to bring it from another dealer out of state they better ship it on a trailer , I don’t want someone driving my new car for 100s of miles
Kyle Clap First off my comment went WAY over your head. Second, show me ANYWHERE I said someone is driving the car 100's of miles. I said cars can have 75-100 miles on them. And when did I say a thing about out of state? Wow you just like to make up garbage. And its not your car they are driving. Its the dealers car. And they better ship it on a trailer? Yeah right. Not for those cheap ass pieces of shit you buy. Sorry but honda civics dont get shipped on trailers when dealers trade cars. Fucking moron.
THE BOSS lol someone got butt hurt, that’s just my opinion don’t buy a car with more then 10 miles , you have the right to disagree and it’s ok we all have different opinions
Another prime example how dealerships have fleeced buyers FOREVER. My past experience with a dealership would sell the exact same vehicle to one customer and then another customer be thousands more....same vehicle. One day I heard the sales manager tell sales man to take a baseball bat back to his office and run the buyers OUT OF DEALERSHIP, due to lack of credit to purchase.
AutoNation is a company that scams every single one of it's customers. I bought a 2002 Subaru Outback on their 1 price no haggle system. (I know, stupid me) 2 months later the head gaskets and transmission went out. The car was absolutely immaculate on the outside and the interior was too. I also took it to the shop I like to go to for a pre purchase inspection and they gave it a clean bill of health. That's what really sold me on it. The sales person told me it had a 3 month 3 thousand miles warranty on it just in case it wasn't the car for me. When all the problems arose I took it back to AutoNation and told them what was going on, I was within the supposed 3 month 3 thousand miles warranty, but they ended up telling me in the end that, that wasn't a real warranty and I just had been hearing things. I got stuck with a broken car that actually put me in a financial pickle. So now until I have that piece of shit paid off (that for the record, is sitting in the scrap yard right now), I'm driving a 1993 Buick. At least the Buick is reliable. I feel as if I was robbed. But I guess it was a lesson to do more research before going to a dealership. I will never purchase another vehicle from AutoNation again.
According to the video, vehicle is considered used if it’s titled or has more than 1500 miles. Then at the end it’s confirmed that it had 2 previous owners. So 2 owners and vehicle still was under 1500 miles?? How is that possible?
One of those owners was the dealership in the other seem to be a tiitle to somebody else who didn't even take the truck off the lot. Perhaps a sale that didn't ultimately go through.
the real issue is that he bought a "truck" for 30k when for less than half the price he could have gotten a used truck with more features, power, towing, load and depending last longer
Never buy from autonation or any other Corporate, nationwide dealer. A. You don't matter your money dies. B. With a local dealer you know the owner is in your state. Not a state thousands of mile away.
Back in the mid 1980's my girlfriend sued a dealership for this same reason, but that car (Mitsubishi Cordia L) only had 600+ miles on it. But that was in Oregon, and quite some time ago... The miles didn't really bother her as much as the fact they lied when asked about how they were accrued. "It must have been a long pier in Japan" was the reps answer when in fact I noticed someones name in the back of the owners manual and looked up his number and called him to find out he did, in fact previously buy the car in which it was repossessed. She settled out of court for a few thousand $$$$ and got her old car back. She is a very passive individual and said the suit wasn't about money as much as being deceived, and if they would have been truthful in the beginning she would have been happy and left it at that... .
Nissan still have the same bodystyle for the Frontier since 2005. It will a dealer selling a 2005 Frontier that looks very identical to 2018 with wheels and tires the same year and swapped the odometer that's under 700 miles from the last model Nissan. Selling to someone who was unaware with the Frontier until they get it registered. Sounds like a rip off.
The primary tool the Office of the Attorney General uses to protect Texas consumers is the Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). This law lists many practices that are false, deceptive, or misleading. When you fall victim to illegal practices covered by the DTPA, you may have the right to sue for damages under the act.
Don't always trust Carfax either, we bought a car that had a clean carfax report from the dealership. It turned out to be a rental that was repaired. There was paint overspray on the headlights but the salesman still stood behind the carfax report saying it was never damaged. They fixed it in house so they never had to make a claim for damaged which was why it was not on the carfax report.
It doesn't matter what Nissan allows a,dealer to do. What matters is the government says it has a past owner or 1500 miles on it. The dealership doesn't have to unwind. They can buy the car back in a,trade in for the value he paid.
lmfao, dealerships never sell new cars, they sell slightly used cars. If i was to ever buy a new car, i want my ass the be at least the second person to sit in it and drive it. and have at least 1 to 2 miles on clock.

Surprised they did not mentioned anything about False Advertising, that is also against the law (False Advertising).
He didn't question the mileage? If it has more than 12 miles it's used! Period!
some cars are used as demos and are sold as new vehicles even though they might have like 500 miles on the clock
Still used though
David Bedwell yeah in my opinion anything with more than the delivery mileage is a used car to me. Anyway why would you want to buy a brand new car when you can buy a 1 year old used example that has allready depreciated quite a lot.
David Bedwell my moms 2015 Nissan Sentra had 12 miles on Delivery before buying it because it was delivered by truck and then it has to be driven from the location the truck dropped the car off at to the dealer
Every new vehicle has been used. You can never buy one with zero miles. Once its registered in somebody's name its becomes used miles has nothing to do with it being new or used
So much fraud and scheming going on with many dealers that need close monitoring when they are caught trying to defraud customers.
take them to court . money is all they understand .
I had a negative experience with AN. Will not set foot in any of their dealerships.
Clear fraud.
They violated the law clear and simple! They belong losing their sales license! They are full of crap on selling it as new and they belong in prison shit bags! Auto Nation should be out of business period!
Not deceptive, actually FRAUD.
It’s like asking your girlfriend if she’s a virgin and she says yes but her ex boyfriend says you’re the second owner.
ha ha ... if you have to ask your girlfriend if she's a virgin and she says yes ... you need to ask her if she is a tRUMPubliKKKlan ... then you will know she is lying
@@rhuephus it’s alway about politics 😂
White folks and their corrupted leaders in America 😂 lmao
It is easy to tell if it is new. If it has more than 10 miles on the odometer, it is used.
My new car has 143,000 miles on it when I got it.
Regarding what the CEO said anyone that sees this video and purchases a vehicle from any AutoNation in any state is a foolish individual
Naah, that doesn't work, & there may not be a demo equipped the way the customer wants, so cars sitting on the lot are commonly test driven.
you're supposed to be nice to the customer...or else he'll go somewhere else .....SIMPLE MARKETING
I don’t do business with auto-nation.
I refuse to pay more for less.
Mistake 1 bought a Nissan enough said
Lol agreed, good friend is a master certified Nissan tech. He and his family drive Toyota's . When asked if you know so much about Nissan's why do you drive Toyota's ? He says you just answered your own question lol.
30k for a truck? Why? Trucks plummet in resale...
It`s only new once. Once it is sold it`s not new anymore.
that VP of AutoNation sounds like a sleezbag!
"We should not have been nice to the customer..."
I bought a brand new 2013 Nissan Xterra pro 4X in 2014 now I'm wondering if it was used and also sold it for new, I noticed the tires didn't look very new the speedometer had 300 miles but then 3 weeks later they had to replace the hole cluster and it brought it back to zero and they also took more than 3 weeks and Wouden't send me the paper work
This was Viva Nissan in East El Paso Texas.
They should give him a full refund and let him keep the truck
Dealers will frequently use vehicles as loaners or as salesperson’s cars without officially titling them. Then they sell them as “new” because they’ve never been titled. Meanwhile, any number of strangers may have been abusing them for several months. I once went to a dealer to look at a Mustang Mach 1 only to find out that the sales manager had been using it as his personal car.
Their was an Automation.. In Michigan... As soon as they opened.. They closed down... I always wondered.. Why..
All dealers are crooks..
They dont call them "stealerships" for nothing.....
I'm so confused. I always been told. when you drive a new car off the car lot you automatically lose $10.000 off it's value. so idk how that's possible for them to do that.
@@derekhood7815 bullshit, you drive a new car off the lot, and its value immediately drops around 20-30%.
give him his money back and a free truck of his choice
Never buy a new car with more then 10 miles.
never buy a new car point...
Wow. That sucks because it's not just the dealership that is going to pay, it's the Nissan name.
Ms Smith trust me nissan doesn't care, they say the dealership is a independent business, that's what they told me on issues with a dealership
How could you fall for that? The truck is clearly used!
I wouldn't even drive that car!
Operating in violation of the law. Revoke the dealerships business license.
screw that i wouldnt take anything less that a REAL brand new truck
According to the video, vehicle is considered used if it’s titled or has more than 1500 miles. Then at the end it’s confirmed that it had 2 previous owners. So 2 owners and vehicle still was under 1500 miles?? How is that possible?
One of those owners was the dealership in the other seem to be a tiitle to somebody else who didn't even take the truck off the lot. Perhaps a sale that didn't ultimately go through.
The real crime is paying 30k for a mid size Nissan truck.
"He's fleeing the interview, he's fleeing the interview!"
That’s one reason why dealerships have a bad reputation
"shouldn't have been nice to the customer" everyone should boycott that dealer and shut them down
must be a tRUMPubliKKKlan
the real issue is that he bought a "truck" for 30k when for less than half the price he could have gotten a used truck with more features, power, towing, load and depending last longer
If that were me, I’ll probably sue them,
29k for a Nissan truck in 2013 was still overpay man.
Never buy from autonation or any other Corporate, nationwide dealer. A. You don't matter your money dies.
B. With a local dealer you know the owner is in your state. Not a state thousands of mile away.
How many miles was on the truck when you got it? That is my question.
the odometer was probably "unwound" ...
She is a very passive individual and said the suit wasn't about money as much as being deceived, and if they would have been truthful in the beginning she would have been happy and left it at that... .
Well shouldn’t of bought a Nissan anyway
So was anybody charged criminally?
Why didnt you looked at the speedometer before purchising? 😂
How many miles on truck
Over 1500
I have one question how many miles was on that truck when he stepped in it 🤔
Nissan still have the same bodystyle for the Frontier since 2005. It will a dealer selling a 2005 Frontier that looks very identical to 2018 with wheels and tires the same year and swapped the odometer that's under 700 miles from the last model Nissan. Selling to someone who was unaware with the Frontier until they get it registered. Sounds like a rip off.
That's what I did when buying my first car. The dealer told me they can get it in "soon" (I said thank you) and walked out.
What I want to know is why did you get a nissan
The primary tool the Office of the Attorney General uses to protect Texas consumers is the Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). This law lists many practices that are false, deceptive, or misleading. When you fall victim to illegal practices covered by the DTPA, you may have the right to sue for damages under the act.
Never buy a Nissan..... use carfax on the VIN number
Sam Lung okay don't ever test drive a car you want to buy again then because if you don't want it it's not fair on the next person right?
Fart Farmer well for one they have demos for that.
rps13sr yeah not every car lots like that.... The car I buy is the car I drive.
Sam Lung lol yeah. The first arse in that seat should be product tester/QC.
