The White Bear Yacht Club I’ve heard ranks as the number one golf course in the state, it’s private obviously. The houses on this lake are off the charts for what you actually pay to get. About 10 years ago the water level was very low and instead of having water where it currently is, it was about 200 ft out into lake, so shoreline homes had beaches for 200 ft or you paid for 200 ft of dock extensions. Enough people kicked in money and power and changed the water level…made the news
There’s also Bald Eagle Lake that has an island home. It went for sale for about $4m about 10 years and no one bought it and price dropped to about $1.something. Then it was drastically rebuilt and is asking close to $7m. Wait what…nobody wanted it at $1.5m and you think $7m will work. It has a hovercraft and shore lot/garage. But still no one in reality wants to the giant inconvenience of an island.
Learned of this place while watching pro wrestling on TV back in the 1970's-80's. Legendary "Jumping Jim" Brunzell was originally from White Bear Lake. His tag-team partner Greg Gagne was from Mound Minnesota, not too far away.
I grew up in Minnesota and we were always in our basement crouching under heavy tables. And the cattle would get loose from our neighbors farm and looked really very confused😢
