    I love collectors coins as a supplement to my bullion investment. There is so much history to learn. But for maybe 1-2% of your portfloio its fun to try and pick a winner. My question is. is there a peak with collector coins? do they ride a wave u want to sell at the top? Or is it quality is quality. Forever....?

      About. a dollar below spot per ounce. Use kitco or jm gold price. It's around 17 to 18 an ounce now so multiply that by 25. If you have have semi- numismatic coins you may get a dollar more. Older Chinese Pandas are cheap on ModernCoinMarts eBay site around Black Friday very soon. They go up yearly. I buy bars that I know close to spot from a reputable coin dealer. No pawn shops ever. Finally if you go to Apmex and accurately describes what you have they will make an offer. If you agree they send a courier to you to pick it up. If they agree with your descriptions/maybe photos they send a check. If not they return coins. Very reputable and. great service. Phone # is on their app.

      @@roadtothemarathon253 you can find a 1800 years genuine roman coin for under 1$ but there is coins of the 1960/70's ( the 1969 canadian large date dime for exemple ) who worth above 10k $, even in bad condition.
      Also, if Byzantine gold ( solidus ) are sometimes cheap, Roman empire aureus are usually extremely expensive ( in my opinion they are the king series in numismatic for their rarity, extreme beauty ( hadrian aureus especially ) , deep historical value and universality ; those coins are collected everywhere ! )

    • @tlanimass952
      @tlanimass952 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Counterfeits only fool unknowledgeable people. Most expert dealers/collectors can tell a VERY good counterfeit coin within 20 seconds of looking at it, and this is for very good top of the line fakes. Even amateur collectors who have been collecting for just a few years can tell most fakes apart. Thats why a lot of counterfeits are sold on Ebay/Etsy, etc. to people who have no idea what they are looking at.

  • @Creeper308
    @Creeper308 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Decide if you are going to be an investor or collector. As with contemporary coins, the approach to acquiring the coins is vastly different. I started collecting bible-related coins 16 years ago that grade from G to XF. Along the way I added what I consider "investment grade" coins that are high grades and scarce. But I still refer to these as highlights of a collection, not really an investment.

      @Ken Johnson you're an uninformed idiot. Ancient coins are different from US coins. When collecting US coins, you're encouraged to wear gloves or at least hold the coins by the edges. That's why most US coins are slabbed. However, ancient coins are different. Collectors are encouraged to handle ancient coins with their bare hands. Ancient coins passed through thousands of hands while being intact. Handling ancient coins isn't a problem versus handling modern coins.
