I think I was in a store, and this was playing in the background, and immediately stopped what I was doing, made note of the lyrics and went searching for it. It is probably now one of the most played songs on my favorites playlist, and my love affair with Boy and Bear was born. What a great band!

This gorgeous, vast, ethereal song haunts me as much today as it did 10 years ago. And whoever is responsible for the video did a masterful job of capturing the essence of the song. Magic. Captivating. Epic. Perfect.
Saw these guys when this album came out and they were doing a USA tour supporting it. They were playing a little dive bar called the Thunderbird in ST. Louis MO. I'll bet there wasn't 120 people there. To this day it was one of my all time best concert experiences! No security, no roped off stage, just a small room and a few brews with my wife and daughter listening to these guys play what is still one of my favorite albums. The stage was literally 16 inches above the dance floor. Boy & Bear stood around after the show talking with us for probably 30 minutes. I could not thank them enough for putting on such a good show for what was likely the smallest group of people they played to while here in the states. Thanks again Guys!
Ah here!! I totally agree with you except its not one of the best songs ever made really is it? its a good tune from a good band, lets not exaggerate now. I think your just having a moment!!
I was on a beach some years ago along the central coast of CA with my mom blasting this on my speaker. She never heard it before but we bonded over its undeniable Americana folksy roots. I forever associate this song with that day.
@@RonMark-mf2ceoh yes, great Aussie band, with that distinctive Aussie sound to me. I saw so many great bands in Melbourne in the 70’s and 80’s and these boys could be Matt Finish, Crowded House, Powderfinger, and they sound very Aussie to me. And beautifully filmed in New Zealand!
I was talking with some Brits about how good Tame Impala is, and when I mentioned the band's from Australia, they were quite surprised. Come on, I know the UK has a crapton of awesome music, but there is still great stuff coming from other countries.
I love this song but I can’t ever listen to it casually without getting chills and my eyes tearing up. This song came out around the time my Dad wasn’t doing well health wise and he really liked this song. When he passed away not long after, this song etched his death journey into my brain. Even on the way to his funeral this song came on the radio and I burst into tears and took it as a sign from him. It’s wild how music can do this with our memories!

LYRICS:
In all you'll see
What was it that came down on me that night
A conjuring, I held on to that moment
And lie just to make it alive.
I stood out there in the covering
In the baskings of a holy night
And I was lucid and conscious
And hovering like a firefly
My mind stretched out on the canopy
It put its arms out slow
And I heard the whispers of silence floating down from the radio
So come on, come on I'm ready now
I got the feeling honey like I'm ready to roll
You see I'm not gonna wait till the end of me
'Cause I got the burning fire in bed of my soul.
I saw the light from a kettle gun
Sixteen days under a Southern Sun
And there were times when I thought that
I wouldn't mind it if I lost my mind out there
You wouldn't believe me if I told you so
The things I saw were enough to make the man in me
A man in me, make a man of me
So come on, come on I'm ready now
Go get your things out honey, let's get ready to roll
Oh I can feel the wave coming over me
I've been waiting for this day too long just to let it all go
As a child I was wonder-eyed at the thought that I might know
A life in the ecstasy of Rock'n Roll
O-oh-oh i'm not taking it slow
I'm an arrow in a bow
You think that I don't know, what it is that makes me glow
So come on, come on I'm ready now
I got the feeling honey like I'm ready to roll
You see I'm not gonna wait till the end of me
'Cause I got the burning fire in the bed of my soul.
