    Dr. Marini gave the best explanation, and justification, for the rise of Mr. Trump I have ever heard. It was close to what I would say if I was that articulate, and clear thinking. Mr. Goldberg's argument sounds more like a personal vendetta to me -- something to do with ego.

      totally agree, and I add that the Hillsdale President ALSO did a most fantastic job of elucidating truth about Trump.

      de0den Personal vendetta? Are you kidding? It's quite the opposite. Goldberg cares passionately about constitutional principles. That's priority one for him. While Donald Trump, with his stated belief in affirmative-action, anti-trade tariffs, "opening up these libel laws," publicly funded health care, paid maternity leave, etc, is resolutely ANTI-Constitution.

    Sorry Jonah but Trump won & my retirement has not only regained what it lost thanks to Bush & Obama but it has DOUBLED. My home's value finally got back to where it was before the crash as of this month. He may be simplistic, not very educated but so far what he's doing with North Korea is working, what he's doing with Germany is working, what he's doing with Mexico is working. The only reason that we still have Obamacare is because of the RINOs, the only reason we didn't get immigration reform is because of the Democrats. Is Trump perfect? Heck no but, he's a good start at getting rid of Obama's many failed executive orders & policies. We have to start somewhere and Trump is great at taking the abuse that no one else we had up there would have withstood. I wanted Rand Paul as POTUS & Ted Cruz as VP, couldn't get that because neither of those two would be able to put their iron clad ideas aside & work together. Look at all of the presidential in speech, in appearance, etc but ya gotta give him some credit, at least we don't have Clinton, that's not much but it's definitely something & it's obvious that no one else was going to be able to do that if they couldn't beat Trump.

    I wish Hillsdale offered an online academic transfer Associates's Degree, so many more students could get the quality foundation they offer before finishing at a state school. It would offer a good alternative to the leftist indoctrination and innoculate students to what indoctrination they would find as they continue their education.

    To Mr Goldberg, being intellectual and philosophical is not requisite for a great public servant or a successful, great leader for the good of the people. Next, five years later, can you deny Trump’s intention of keeping his promises? And he has a lot more of supporters five years later now. Do you think a fake could have accomplished that? Also, listening to experts is a good trait for a good leader, not a bad one. I happen to think Trump does not do enough of it.

    Goldberg came out and endorsed Romney thirteen days after he lost South Carolina to Newt Gingrich. Here is a quote from his 2/3/12 article:
    Even if Romney is a Potemkin conservative (a claim I think has merit but is also exaggerated), there is an instrumental case to be made for him: It is better to have a president who owes you than to have one who claims to own you.
    Read more at: www.nationalreview.com/article/290033
    Now remember, Romney is the same guy who lost Iowa to a man with no money.

    I liked the way Goldberg's lie about Trump was debunked by the other speaker simply pulling the Playboy interview up on his laptop and observing that "horrible" is not usually an adjective indicating praise. Goldberg retreated from saying Trump had praised the Communist Chinese over Tiananmen Square to the claim that he'd been insufficiently PC in referring to the protesters as rioters, but this intimate knowledge of the interview merely reveals that Goldberg knew perfectly well that Trump had called what the regime did horrible and was choosing to mislead the audience about what Trump had said. Contrasting strength and weakness, Deng Xiaoping vs Gorbachev (and G.H.W. Bush), is obviously not an endorsement of the former regime in all its aspects, no matter that Goldberg lies about it.

    • @dbreckman
      @dbreckman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gandydancer "If he says great things about me, I'm gonna say great things about him." --Donald Trump talking about Vladimir Putin.
      Yes, Trump really said this. Look it up. It'll take you maybe 12 seconds. Trump said this about a viscous, evil, murdering dictator.

    • @DainBramaged00
      @DainBramaged00 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He did say it. Do you understand it? I feel you are reading too much into what he said. He is talking about a sort of verbal quid pro quo, an exchange of compliments, possibly as a prelude to future negotiations. He is by no means endorsing every action Putin has ever taken.

    • @dbreckman
      @dbreckman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nonsense. What if he'd said it about Kim Jong-un of North Korea -- the same exact phrase ("If he says great things about me, I'm gonna say great things about him.") -- would you still be treating it so casually? Be honest.

    • @DainBramaged00
      @DainBramaged00 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So maybe I'm not understanding you. You think his comment means he agrees with everything Putin has done?

    • @dbreckman
      @dbreckman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course not. When a leader endorses somebody or speaks well of them, they are not saying "I agree with EVERYTHING that person has done." That's silly. For example, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher had a terrific diplomatic relationship and respected each other enormously, but each of them, I'm sure, could find things about the other's policies they disagreed with.
      ...But their OVERALL OPINION of each other was positive.
      ...So when Trump proclaims about Putin, "If he says great things about me, I'm going to say great things about him" he is saying, in effect, "I may not agree with everything he's done, but I think Putin, overall, is a decent human being."
      ...Think about it. Could you imagine Harry Truman saying in 1948, "If Stalin says great things about me, I'm going to say great things about him"?
      ...Or Kennedy saying in 1962, "If Castro say great things about me, I'm going to say great things about him"?
      ...The question alone is almost laughable.
      ...But when Trump makes those remarks about a murderous thug dictator, his supporters barely bat an eye.
      ...At BEST what you'll hear them say about it is, "All right, maybe he shouldn't have said those words -- Trump isn't perfect -- nobody is -- are YOU perfect? -- but what about Hillary Clinton and her blah blah blah blah blah blah..."
      ...In other words, for Trump's supporters, an insane remark like that is not disqualifying.
      ...But it should be.

    President Arnn, I LOVE you!!!! You rocked this!!! Standing ovation to you !!! Prof. Marini, your "read" so your delivery was hard to follow, but your words were MAGNIFICENT - so standing ovation to you as well !!!! BOTH of you RAISED my spirits to the point of giving me the feeling of a free eagle flying on a sunny clear day!! And I LOVED each and every rebuttal made by BOTH of you to Goldberg, who seems to have the maturity of understanding of a 2 year old throwing a tantrum !!!! EVERY TIME he made his insane/inane comments each of you raised your bows and shot your arrows bullseye between his eyebrows -- but as he is so full of hot air, your arrows faced no "resistance" so they did not land in his forehead to stay" but instead they pierced right through that head of his to land somewhere FAR BEHIND him, as his points had NO substance !!!! BRAVO to both of you !! A thousand bravos !!! And the points each of you brought up could not have been more essential nor more beautiful. Not only a standing ovation to you both but hugs to both of you, for being BEAUTIFUL MEN of blood and heart as well as brains !!
    How immature of Goldberg to mention Trump having a boy/man crush on Putin !!!!!!!!! As President Trump will have to negotiate with Putin just as he will have to with all other world leaders and if he badmouths him, how will that ever be possible? To use yet another analogy about Goldberg besides the ones above about his being full of hot air and a 2 year old having a tantrum, he just kept dropping himself deeper and deeper into a sinkhole of his own making with his many pathetic points - it is only thanks to an actual 3D floor being underneath him that his head still remained ABOVE the table - or his body above the floor - by the end of this!
    I am sharing this to my fb page right now, and I will send this link to every u tuber I respect so they can discuss this terrific discussion (informal debate) and give it as much exposure as they can muster!
