I did the Fister mod on my 996. My wife thought that I was insane. Now I have a 997.2 S but I like the regular sounds that it makes, and being a convertible makes a difference as well. I really enjoy watching your videos. I upgraded my radio with a GTA carkit and I’m very happy with it.
Thanks for watching! I figured out after finalizing the video that the most noticeable difference is driving with the windows down. Sounds amazing! I bet your convertible sounds great with all the open air and no obstruction between driver and exhaust note!
Did the same on my 996. Stupid cheap and sounds friggin amazing!!! I did mine through Fister Motorsports, but it's essentially the same thing. vrooom vrooom!!
So I have a 2006 C4S with PSE. So correct if I'm wrong, if i would like to get a more throatier sound, I need to either add fabspeed cai or just get a new maxflo exhaust? Thx for the help, great video.
Right. If you have Porsche sports exhaust, your mufflers will already be designed very similarly to the way I modified mine. So if you want more sound, you can either change out the mufflers for a different type as you mentioned, or you could replace the headers, or replace the catalytic converters with high flow cats.
I went down a deep dive in rennlist a few months ago on Fister vs Gundo. Looks like a couple different arguments including the differences you mentioned. One thread I found indicated that both use the pipe in the same position, Darrin Fister commercialized it, but that the rennlister called Gundo had originated it. And that the one with the pipe coming out of the other hole was something different. Now of course I can’t find that thread after an hour of 4am googling, so I may have dreamed all of that😂🤪
Launching with the windows closed, you are exactly right. Very subtle difference. Also, there’s a lot of sensory input during a launch, so it’s harder to think about the cool exhaust sound when the world is coming at you so fast! Fortunately, the weather has just improved dramatically, and I’ve been able to drive with the windows down. The sound is soooo much better, windows down, with the new exhaust. The best way I can think to describe the difference is that it now properly sounds like an exotic sports car.

Fister does amazing work!

This is fister mod, not gundo. Gundo uses the hole on the top of the mufflers, attaching to the mufflers outlet pipe.

Listening with headphones very subtle difference (launch recording). I’m sure in person it’s a lot more difference.

That is exactly right. Lots of sunscreen!
Gundo hack is a nice sound but the Foster exhaust is better IMO
Yes Darrin Fister does an amazingly clean job on his mufflers!
🎶 ❤
Happy sounds 😬😬😬
