It will be such a shame if this fishery closes to day ticket anglers, the number of big fish trout waters is getting fewer and fewer, I feel a trip is in order before the inevitable happens. Cracking video again Martyn and what a lovely brace of fish.
I genuinely have concern for the small stillwater trout scene moving forwards- I have a horrid image of multiple venues shutting the doors in the next couple of years. The cost of running these fisheries makes it really difficult to turn a profit with trout feed and electricity going up every 16 minutes. Although avington is not really viable for me anymore … I’m looking at £170 for a days sport after diesel costs too it’s the venue where I got my first double and an excellent fishery …. I hope they can keep going!!
There is just something special about these waters that stock double figure fish ….avington, Dever, Rockbourne….seeing stunning fish like that brownie in the margins. Seeing these fish and knowing those lumps are in there just gets the excitement flowing …. There really is nothing like it
Totally agree, when I think of all the trout fisheries that used to pride themselves on being big fish waters that have now gone over to carp because of the cost of running/ fish cost its sad. I think the number of trout fisherman has declined too, you don't see many youngsters taking up the sport, probably due to cost.
