First, good for you for planning on attending the adaptive defensive pistol nationals!
I am not familiar with their specific rule set so please take what I say with a grain of salt.
Generally, what Rob said about consistency of access to your gear is spot on regardless of where your gun is mounted. If you need to frequently reholster during the course of fire to facilitate movement, I would keep my holster pointed directly at the ground. Canting the holster might sound good, but could leave you running the ragged edge of safety when forced to reholster on the fly. As far as pistol goes, there are many good options out there. For maximum performance, stick to full size frame guns (G17, etc). Make sure it's 100% reliable. Seek out training because at the end of the day, the shooter's skill wins the match, not his gun.
      Have fun!

@@garypoborsky7073 Looks cool! Unfortunately they don't list their rule set. I bit it's strikingly similar to IDPA but with allowances for chair mounted firearms, handgun adaptations for gripping purposes, mag placement, etc. Stage design will likely be friendly too.
I run an indoor USPSA match and we make it as friendly as possible for any shooter with a disability. If you're in Northwest Montana look us up!
