Holy shit, Danny. How are you so damn talented?
He's always struck me as kind of a throwback to celebrity big band leaders who were first rate instrumentalists, solid conductors, good composers, and charismatic front men and singers who could probably dance a bit also. He seems to really admire Cab Callaway, and it shows. A rare type nowadays.

Lucky person you are. Would have loved to see them from 81-85. I doubt they came anywhere near me and I was too young 11-15. I didn't know of them other than the one movie song Weird Science. Love them so much now.

Danny said that he was already 'old' when he put Oingo Boingo together-in his late 20's. Influences like Duke Ellington, 20's and 30's big band, the Beatles, the Clash, and classical music. It reflects in his music that is heaven for audiophiles.

It's a very difficult song to perform, sing, play altogether. There's no auto-tune; he's singing just like album and dozens of instruments are playing at the same time.
Ask this kind of stuff nowadays, and you won't get it.
The first time I heard this band, Robert Downey Jr. was fvcking up their live sound and later christened the "poster boy for birth control" by Rodney Dangerfield. Pretty easy to hear how Elfman made the jump to scoring film and television.
