    Not a good warranty service in my opinion!!! Especially with the scratches on the blade!! Sorry man!!!

    I have three Spyderco Para 3 Lightweights and from what I know about Para 3 lightweight is that it always favorites one side of the other so it’s never center. Because it’s only has only one washer. Sometimes you will get lucky that the center is close enough. But they’re off center always. I heard that Some Para 3 lightweight owners what they do is they filed lightly the FRN side that doesn’t have the washer. I had never done it because the off center on the para 3 lightweight it doesn’t butter me it longest it has a good action. But usually I like my knives well center.

      Yeah I've heard some of that. It's still bugs me. I have to have my knives centered. I know that's weird but it is what it is. Thanks

    That sucks. My para 3 lw came perfectly centered with flawless action. They should have just given you a new one

    Ive owned and had on loan enough Para 3 LW to tell you they vary greatly. Some are centered and nice and most others aren't centered yet have perfect action. The single liner may or may not stick up inside. The most recent Rex 45 is much better than the early ones I had. Keep in mind a single liner, single washer knife is only going to be as good as the weak side. If that linerless side had any warp to it prior to being assembled it's never going to be right no matter what you do.
    As far as the warranty goes I've used many manufacturers service for different reasons and the myth that Spyderco has a poor warranty compared to others is just wrong. I've had equally bad service from other US and overseas manufacturers .

      I hear you, but I had a great experience with hogue, and Have heard of others having good experience with other companies. But I would agree there are probably more that stink at it than are good at it. I just can't imagine sending a knife back to somebody that is scratched like that.

    Hmm. I bought one exactly like it today. It is perfectly centered and the blade is loose when pressing the compression lock. I hope they take care of this for you.

      They've done something recently. This used to be a notorious problem but it seems that they may have fixed it. So good stuff. As for mine, I sold it a long time ago. Thanks

      It's pretty simple. Some person in service scratched it and didn't want to take ownership of it. Pretty sad though. Thanks

    Come on this doesn't give me any incentive to pick up my next Spyderco. Man that must be frustrating to send it off wait for it to come back and it's trashed. Hope this gets resolved for you KC. Thanks for putting this out

    I have a PM2 that has the same problem. Favors the show side when loose enough to open and drop but WILL NOT reverse flick as it should. I’m going to try and increase the detent to see if that helps 🤷‍♂️ Being my first Spyderco, I’m not impressed

    Accept their offer of a return shipping label and tell them at the very least you want a new blade but preferably a whole new knife...OR, offer to trade that one in and pay the difference (if any) to upgrade to a standard, G10 Para 3 with S30V steel.
    At least you'll be sending it back on their dime so the only cost to you is some more of your time.
    That's my .02¢ worth.

    I've heard Tom Moore say that you can center a lightweight by applying pressure to the blade toward the side it's favoring. Then close and recheck centering.

      If you do that wear gloves. I have cut nerves and a nice scar on my index finger from doing that.

    Got a SMKW pm2 artic storm recently with a lanyard rattle. Can't return to SMKW since it's sold out. Will keep it and slip some loctite in there to prevent a rattle. Got a BladeHQ copper pm2, and it was off center. Was able to exchange that one. Brand new, so would think it be perfect.

      Late to the conversation but my paramilitary 2 arctic storm was supposed to have all black hardware to match the dlc blade. The back spacers were all silver. I shipped it to warranty last week and haven't heard anything from spyderco since. It's a bit unnerving how there's no communication. I hope i get it back soon haha 😅

    I was about to send off my para 2 for these issues but now I think I'll just return it to blade hq and get my money back. When I did contact spyderco they didn't send me a shipping label so I'm not paying to send in a defective knife that's there issue!

    The bdn1 lightweights I believe only have one washer, causing it to favor to one side.

    I've got the exact para 3 lw so far no problems with centering or action it sucks that yours is that bad because I carry mine all the time

    Nope! Agree with all the other comments. And that nick in the coating?! Nope. Definitely a cautionary tale. And think I’ll be taking pics of my stuff before I send it off based on your experience here. To anybody. Not just Spyderco.

    I can't get Spyderco to send a pocket clip screw that came stripped. Not impressed with Spyderco warranty

    That's just unacceptable. To send it in and have it come back not fixed and further damage isn't good at all. The fact that they don't even explain what they did isn't good either. Doesn't bode well for them for sure. Great video KC 👍

    I’ve heard horror stories about dealing with Spyderco’s warranty service. Them not even mentioning what issues you had and what they did to correct it tells you all you need to know about how much they care about you. Good luck.

    Send it back especially if your not going to carry it and are unhappy with the service, if it was me and they don't make it right might be time for some sterner words and along with that contact the seller you purchased it from, I think you said SMKW, and inform them of the situation and how you are being treated by them. In the end it can sour your future purchases towards spyderco with bad customer serviceso. Trying to keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable is definately hard sometimes but you do it very well.

    Mine bounces a bit when it drops shut. I dont think its hitting the backspacer. Is it too loose then or is it suppose to be like that when its adjusted? (I am a complete amateur as you can tell)

      If it's bouncing back you could probably tighten the pivot a bit. But I mean a tiny bit. It shouldn't bounce back like that. Thank you

    For me it is harder to Spydie flick my para 3 but its easier to do it with my other Spydercos also try flicking up, not out.

    It's tough to center a knife with only 1 washer in it. The Para 3 LW was a shit design from the start concerning the internals of the knife.

      @@KnivesFAST For what it's worth, I still really like 90% of my Spydercos when it comes to f&f and still enjoy their design language. Pobody's nerfect, but having had the chance to fix their mistake, blowing it again is a shame... Still, I hold out hope that after you send it out again, the story will have a decent finale

      @@KnivesFAST got it from an antique store and it had no edge on it at all. Been trying to use a sharpener and such to give it an edge and make it sharp but that isn't doing much.

      @@jakefrost8658 Not knowing anything about it It's tough. It could just be a show sword and not really be heat treated. If you continue to do it and not get it sharp I would worry about that.

    I'd send it back. If you aren't going to carry it and they'll send a label, you might as well. Those scratches suck. You'll probably put your own but I don't want the manufacturer adding them.

      You're kidding right? The blade should not be tilted to one side. If I pay over $100 for a knife I expect it to be centered. But to each their own. If it doesn't bother you then that's fine. Thanks

    Big company, expensive knives. The way they handled this warranty issue, no communication at all, damaged the blade and didn't solve the problem. Disappointing, really.

    If you cant service your own knife you shouldn’t own knives. Simply as that. Lw is not the superior model so has its flaws but can be corrected add extra washer and let it break in the adjust. I love spyderco and the haters, more for me. Great knife

      So I worked in it extensively and I know how to work on knives oh self appointed chief of knife police. It is a flawed knife and Ives had a ton of folks tell me they had the same issue. I paid too much to deal with it being so far off center. I will not be turning in my knives, but thanks for watching.

    Dude, you can’t middle finger flick. I could’ve done that with my pinky the way that thing slammed shut. My g10 para3 was tighter when new and I could still flick it open

    Dang knife bro what's goin on in the knife world these days? JB gets the dry shaft from Case&then Spyder Co does the same thing to you. You guys are Knife reviewing Kings &the companies dont seem to care. It sure dont bode well for us common knife folk. I think I'm gonna keep buyin knives I can handle first. &that whole scratch thing!?! I'd be pissed if the scratched in my blade were put there by incompetent boobs that were supposed to fix a problem not make it worse. It seems no one is takin much pride in their work these days.
