I watch a lot of woodworking videos and, to me, this video is in contention for video of the year. Original joinery and design for a piece of furniture that doesn’t see a lot of innovation, amazing craftsmanship, and exquisite videography and sound. This is what woodworking videos should be.
Perfect example of a craft becoming an art. Aesthetic in both the deliverable and it’s making. I support the idea of considering it should be the woodworking video of the year.
I should have known that you would make such an unusual design that combines a stool with kumiko that is both very artistic and pleasing yet very very strong. Congratulations on another great video.

Incredible work, thanks for a well produced video. That timber is beautiful but it looked hard and fractured easily, was it tough on the edges of the tools?

Love the choice of hexagonal seat instead of a circle. The chamfers add pleasing visuals, but are soft enough to make it something pleasant to sit on.

Very cool stool. Reminds me of the dragon stool Robert Lang did back in 2011. His was Chinese in design. I like your Japanese version as well.

Thanks! That is how ash is, or at least the European ash, the fibers are big. But is not that hard, same as oak/beech
Why is the blade not cutting into the guide rail? I see the chamfer but does not the plane need to ride on a lip?
