We did a visit to this community in 2020, prices have went up dramatically since our visit. You definitely want to have some extra cash now. Our budget was 225 k, now you cannot buy there for that, but back in 2020 you could. We are finally retiring this year, (2024) going back down, probably going to buy at otow because we can still buy in our original budget. That all being said, we did like this community, really liked the tiki hut, food was excellent. Just to expensive now
It’s very beautiful but I am looking for something less expensive only with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It can be a walk up concept and something were I can have my pets!
Wife and I are looking to leave CA in 12-18 months. We are considering The Villages, as we've been going there to visit my Mom since 2004. However, we are open to other locales, too, especially on the west coast of FL. Looking for 3/2, 1900-2000 sf. Thoughts?
Hi Greg...don't confuse this community with "The Villages"...similar name, different place. Villages of Citrus Hills is about 45 mins west of The Villages. Here are a bunch of other alternatives to The Villages: www.floridaforboomers.com/55-plus-communities/
I live here in Citrus Hills. I recommend looking on Zillow and exploring around. Citrus Hills is a large community with tons of options - gated, ungated, on the golf course, off the golf course, etc. The best price for a 3/2 in Citrus Hills is around $270-300k, which is pretty affordable in today’s housing market. If you are looking to move here, I recommend it. We have lovely waterways, quaint downtown areas, excellent golf, great tennis, safety, rolling hills, natural beauty, and a lot more. This is something you don’t really see in other retirement communities in Florida. Most other retirement communities are centered around golf, tennis, and other amenities. Here, we have the added benefit of a very lovely area as well.
Another place I would recommend that is just up the road from Citrus Hills is Black Diamond. Black Diamond has (in my opinion) the most beautiful golf course in Florida. Google pics of the Black Diamond Quarry Course, it looks like it doesn’t belong in FL!
This community is a stand out here in citrus county. None of the chaos like in “the villages”. I love it!
