Thank you ☺️ He looks so handsome even blank. I think that's why I've been so hesitant, & fearful of messing up such a beautiful sculpt, but it's time he gets his face just as soon as the sealant comes in & the weather is right that is 😅
i use guache paint, pastels, brushes and magic erasers! i find it so cool how everyone goes about faceups a bit different

@@AsenvaBJD it’s so nice to use. as long as you don’t use brush on sealants, i mean. with it it’s so easy to wipe and start over again or use water/damp brush to fix small mistakes!

I’m an artist of ~7 years now, and for some reason when it comes to drawing or painting on 3D objects- I just cannot make it look good. My poor practice head cannot catch a break 😅

Great tutorial! I have a vinyl obitsu head I want to face up but I'm so intimidated by putting paint on it lol I didn't know blush and shading went on first so that's a great tip. And for the longest time I thought I would have to buy some special paint, but that's cool it's simply acrylics!

I have never had a BJD and have a recast coming in the mail. Her face definitely needs some love. I was going to have a commission done by someone, but hard to find for a recast. I have worked with multi media and do my own 2d art, so I think I can learn to do something super basic for her, thanks to your video!! Thank you thank you!! Thank you so much for watching! Yeah I'm obsessed with Sailor Moon 😍 yeah a lot of faceup artists won't work on recasts, nor do a lot of groups allow posts on them. I know people can get pretty heated about them so just be careful ❤️
My toxic traits of thinking I can do the face up easily and yet my hands are shaking in reality.
i really want to try faceups but the toxicity of sealant scares me.. im scared of putting the respirator on incorrectly or it being faulty and inhaling the fumes and getting sick >>
The other alternative people have used is Liquitex's Matte Varnish. You can watch some video here on TH-cam that show you how to apply it to the doll.
Hello I wanted yo ask a question. So I plan on getting 2 bjd dolls and 2 heads and I'm getting them blank with no makeup and I'm deciding I just want light red orpink lips on my female doll and eyelashes but noot drawn on. And for my boy acne, and light brown lips/meduum brown. And tiny eyelashes. What should I do and how do you make acne on a doll. Btw my girl doll is white and my boy is suntan. Sadly I couldn't find a girl version in brown and I'm not gonna dye it 😊
Howdy! Congrats on getting dolls! Hmm acne - so if you want it textured maybe do some Elmers glue for texture and paint over it when it dries 👍

Did you put before you start to paint a sealing spray or can i start without put some mr. Clear on it?
I always put it on before so the pastels have something to stick onto 👍❤️

What is the brand of gloss you use for the lips and eyes?
The brand is Tamiya
I have a question can you used crayola pencils?
Good question :o So I have heard some people do it but personally I would rather stick to watercolor pencils since they come off REALLY easy if you make a mistake. I think crayola pencils would be harder to remove tbh. Hope this helps
Also do you or anybody jnow how I can dye a bjd doll to look suntan brown, it's only the head. But I can't use boiling water my parent would kill me so is there another way with just warming up ho water in the microwave andwhat supplies and colors would I need?
You can commission people to dye it for you 👍 check den of angels or Facebook Bjd groups ( Bjd addicts)

Howdy! You’re going to want to use chalk pastels 👍 the oil is not good for the dolls. Hope this helps ❤️
I just got my first bjd, he's a 1/6 yosd. I'm pretty excited to do his faceup!!!!!!! I'm basing him off of one of my OCs, Kasin, from The Arcana. Also so excited to make his clothes~!!!!!! This tutorial was very helpful, thank you so much!!! Just a few questions, so my doll doesn't have lips or a mouth so it's basically dealer's choice here with what I do with that section of his face. Do you have any tips? I'm not quite sure what to do with it, what should I do to make the free-handing the mouth on a little easier? Do you think I could make "guide lines" with tape??????

What type of sealer do you use?
Msc 😍
What is a sealant and what kind did she use?
Sealant is a matte spray that is clear that kinda seals in your work. MSC is the most popular one for dolls but there are other ones people have tried out. You can find MSC on Amazon :)
How do you seal the layers?

Oh Fairyland dolls are great! Just be careful since AliExpress sells recast dolls 😱
Those are recast not real, they buy an original and make the doll, it steals from the original artist
