The choppy motion of the skeletal terminator walking out of the fire near the end of the movie wasn't CGI. It was stop motion animation with a miniature model.
It's not "old CG." CG wasn't practical until the early 90's. The terminator's movements towards the end were accomplished using stop-motion. One frame at a time. 😊
I watch reaction videos to see the reaction to four movie parts. 1) When he explains that Sarah is the mother of John Connor. 2) The removal of the eyeball. 3) When the Terminator's torso starts crawling. 4) The reveal that Kyle is John Connor's father.
It's actually a mixture of Full Scale Puppet work and Stop Motion animation. Closeup shots it's a full scale puppet for full body shots of it moving it's stop motion. There is no CGI in this movie at all.
A sad fact, is when Kyle said Sarah, that he always wondered what was she thinking at that moment in the picture. And she was thinking in Kyle during that tape record.
Thank you for sharing your reaction to "The Terminator," which I have liked since its theatrical release. You said this isn't horror, but it qualifies as science fiction/horror. "Terminator 2" is a must.

Glad you two enjoyed a classic! 🙂 I saw this in a movie theater back in 1984 when it was new. Took a beautiful local teen model to see it. Missy was a cutie! ♥ Almost all of my friends know each other for decades because of her and I meeting each other at 10 pm on December 31st 1983. We dated for a year. A few marriages came out of that.🙂
*My favorite bit of comedy is in the apartment as the landlord asks about the odor coming from the room. The Terminator cycles through possible responses and comes up with "Fuck you, asshole", which is a nod to the scene where the T-800 (the exact model of The Terminator, also referred to in the movie by Reese as Cyberdyne Systems model 101) first arrived and encountered/slaughtered that gang of thugs led by Bill Paxton.*
"People are gonna say we saw this in the theatres when it came out" - 😂😂 I can hear the dread in your voices. - Don't worry. Those comments bore the hell out of me too. - "I saw this in the theatres. . .It was about a big robot man with a gun. . .I really liked it" 😑
I don't mind these comments; it's just surprising that no matter how old the movie is, someone will say it. We need to watch that train movie, which is supposedly the first film in history, and people are going to comment on how they watched it in the cinema 😂
@@PillowHero-jd6ie Oh yeah I know the one - "My Dad took me to see this in 1896. It left a lasting impression on me. The special effects were amazing" 😂
Kyle Reese was born in 2002. With 27 years old (2029), he went back to the past (1984), impregnated Sarah and died. When John Connor is 17 years old, his father Kyle will be born... and he must ensure, without fail, to return him to the past, selling an image of Sarah that will make him fall in love with her, to ensure his conception.
He was born in 2004 actually. You can look that up every resource I've seen says 2004 that makes him 25 when he goes back in time and John would be closer to turning 20 when Kyle is born since he's born in February of 1985.
There is some foreshadowing in the first part of this movie. Please notice the toy truck the Terminator almost crushes with his car as he drives up to the first Sarah Connor victim.🤔
The shotgun used in the police station is a SPAS-12. It is semi automatic. Technically both semi auto and pump but the pump feature is meant for specialized ammunition or to clear a malfunction.
You are sitting in the wrong spots! I love this movie. I saw it on cable TV way too young. Those red eyes as it's crawling after her stuck with me my whole life.
"I'll be back." I highly recommend watching the extended version of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) with the definitive ending. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that version and adds context that was originally taken out, anyone that says otherwise is pushing an agenda. Fun Fact: The crew had "You can't scare me, I work for James Cameron." t-shirts made. Casting Notes Fact: O.J. Simpson was considered for the Terminator, but the producers feared he was "too nice" to be taken seriously as a cold-blooded killer. Ironic. Director Cameo Fact: Near the beginning of the movie, when Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) receives a message on her answering machine breaking her date, the voice on the machine is James Cameron's. Make-Up Shenanigans Fact: One afternoon during a break in filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger went into a restaurant in downtown L.A. to get some lunch and realized all too late that he was still in Terminator make-up with a missing eye, exposed jawbone and burned flesh. Gun Enthusiast Fact: Arnold Schwarzenegger worked with guns every day for a month to prepare for the role. The first two weeks of filming he practiced weapons stripping and reassembly blindfolded until the motions were automatic, like a machine. He spent hours at the shooting range and practiced with different weapons without blinking or looking at them when reloading or cocking. He also had to be ambidextrous. He practiced different moves up to 50 times. He wound up garnering a compliment in Soldier Of Fortune magazine for his realistic handling of the guns on camera (whereas the magazine usually lampoons movies for their inaccurate depictions of weapons use).
I am from 85. Batman returns was the third movie that I ever saw in theatres. I even had a batman comic that they handed out in the theatre. It had the cast on the front cover. All dogs go to heaven and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 before that. I had them on vhs after that and watched them all countless times. It seems that our generation watched a lot of movies that weren't really meant for kids. Beetlejuice, Robocop, Terminator all come to mind.
You mean when they used a fake face over robotics? That was more realistic than using a human actor. That is more like how the Terminator would really look.
The effects you saw was not CG. CG wasn’t practical in the 80s. They had to use sculptures, animatronics, makeup and some stop motion animation to create the metal skeleton. They also used a miniature model to create the apocalyptic wasteland.
Great job! T2 is amazzing. Arguably the best sci-fi action film of all time! You will love it! Can't wait And we need Uzi, AKs and whatever else the criminals or govt has to fully protect ourselves. 💪 Also makes all us armed and ready if anyone is dumb enough to invade.

T2 is good. You'll hear a lot of people saying it's better. It's not. Cameron didn't follow his own time travel rules and created a huge flaw in the movie. If you prefer blockbuster sfx over a great story, then you may agree with them. BTW, there was no CGI in this film.

It was also mixed with shots of a full scale animatronic for close ups of it. There is absolutely zero CGI in this movie they couldn't afford it.
