What do you think of the diet that the first settlers lived on?

One could assume the first settlers would eat nearly anything they could get their hands on that were edible.

Apples grow wild in Colorado from the foothills through the mountains alone paths that miners and settlers took going west. Whenever you see a random apple tree, that's where someone tossed a core, or had a homestead.

A lot of people have never tried rabbit or squirrel, as they are not typically found in the meat dept. of their local supermarkets. They actually are delicious!

When my son was small, I could never tell him that he was eating rabbit. He would always equate it with eating Buggs Bunny.

@@speerrituall1 lol When my dad would come home with a bunch of squirrels he shot, my little sister would be upset. Squirrels (like all furry creatures) are cute, so he would tell her he only killed the "mean" squirrels.

My mom used to cook rabbit and squirrel. My kids liked it.

      Why?
If African slaves came in the 1600s, they were also fed many of these same items. In fact, if the facts were taught about the early slaves, that work of fiction called the 1619 Project would be thrown in the scrapyard.
