Infernus Squads | A Space Marine must have for Warhammer 40K 10th Edition?

- In this one we'll discuss Space Marine Infernus Squads and how I think they have a role to play in Warhammer 40K 10th Edition.
They were the staple Adeptus Astartes 'troop' type unit included in the Leviathan box and will be present in every new Starter Set for his cycle of 40K... But are they any good? - เกม
I'm very excited to paint my half of the Leviathan Box set as Salamanders. The infernos marines sealed the deal (it was between Raven Guard and Salamanders).
I've used the 1 Drop Pod 9 Infernus Marines and 1 Adrax Agatone combo in my first game. Good times
howd that go? May it have been better to drop two 5 man squads with vulkan instead coming in as strat reserves nearby to pick your target out at 24" for free wound re-rolls? (assuming youre coming in near a board egde with space for the pod, but even then, he just needs LoS and 24" is massive). Vulkan is kinda a waste of 100 points. He doesnt add more flamer shots than a 5 man infernus would at 10 points less, his hammer isnt devastating wounds, he gives rerolls in melee but can attach to 1 melee centred squad out of the 4 options, and that unit already gets rerolls on melee.
Salamanders players finally getting a great unit and thematic
True - I remember the decriers when that Pyreblaster dude turned up in the Black Templars Crusader Squad and everyone was like - "What about the Salamanders?"... "Why can't we get one of those?"... "They don't even go here!?"...
Well... There you go!
BURN HERETIC
Happy with my 3 10 man squads of Infernus Marines
My Space Marine army is quite thematic. I know when a unit belongs there and unfortunately these do not. I do like them, but I am selective about what I recruit.
Oh sure - I also have White Scars and Red Hunters and these don't work in either of those 🤣
Some people just want to see the world burn!
And more than other, the sons of Vulkan 🤣🤣🤣
You can add a Primaris Librarian to the squad to provide that 4++ save, making that aggressive drop pod assault more survivable. Although you may have to reduce the infernus squad number to 9 models to allocate a spot for the P.Lib for that Drop Pod max capacity.
It sucks that you still have to pay the full 180pts for 9 since it's not by the model anymore. I'm so glad we went to "points" instead of power level...
This is what I do too! And worked out great with them being able to charge up the ranks as a full squad, though for my 2,000 point list I run a squad of 5 Infernus Marines with a librarian while the rest of the space is occupied by my Lieutenant leading BladeGuard Veteran Bodyguards for even more close range superiority and not having to worry about my elite close quarters fighters getting knocked off the board early in trying to get close.
Managed to get five from last month's GW model of the month. Do look a cool model. Only got them as were free. Plus lots of comversion work for my Wolves. Love it!
They play like Primaris Noise Marines :D
Now that's a shout!
My plan is to fly them in, in my Stormraven Gunship, dropping them alongside a Redemptor Dreadnought to give a bit of longer range cover.
I like them with Deathwatch using Beacon Angelis on a character like a Primaris Captain to for free Rapid Ingress them out with a Teleport and then having options. Want to charge? I got free Overwatch options. I get to shoot? I got options with either Hellfire Rounds to +2 Anti Inf and +4 Anti Monster or hit them with Kraken Rounds to increase the range by 6 and the ap by 1. Ignore Cover Torrent weapons with Str 5, AP 1, 1 Damage isn't too bad.
I was thinking of running these or the new sternguard in a impulsor. Get them up the board its faster it gets to shoot as well, plus i usual run my impulsor with the shiekd array. 5+ invulnerable.
It's worth it. I ran five Infernus Marines in an Impulsor, which itself was armed with fragstorm launchers, a stubber, and the Belicatus Missile as my anti-infantry fragmobile. Absolutely deleted Termagants, and no reason to believe it won't do similar work against Genestealers, Guardsmen, and so forth. And you can hop them out of the Impulsor as needed
You know I came up with this squad about. Twenty years ago bought all the loose bits and everything to make them and no one wanted to play against them
Claim it! 💪🤣
Im thinking dropping 5 infernus alongside 5 sternguard using a drop pod... at a first turn oath of moment target... I do have a second drop pod too for doubling up the fun!!??
Oh baby! Can you imagine, 10 Sternguard, 10 Infernus Marines, 2 drop pods... Heck that's only 570 points!!! Plenty of points of marines left in the bag to walk up the field behind...
I donno what faction you're playing... But if you played Black Templars and took Up Hold the Honour of the Emp as your vow to give everyone 6+ FNP... 🤣
Or four impulsors. the devastating wounds on the sternguard are built into the boltrilfe so the impulsor gets that too.
@@sevenfiftygaming and it leaves the enemy a dilemma, because I doubt they want to be overwatched by either of those units!!
7:10 I think your math is a bit off. On D6 average roll is actually 3.5 (common mistake, frankly), so they actually get 17.5 hits from unit of 5. It's almost having extra guy in unit.
CHEAP, AVAILABLE AND HOT!!! GET EM!!! For a TENNER!
This Summer we will have BBQ SEASON!!!!
FIREBATS!
Are there actually any kits that give extra primaris weapons besides sternguard and crusaders?
Not really, no. The only real ones are the Phobos guys where the units can have different load outs.
Everything else 'normal' Primaris is predominantly single weapon load out. The Sternguard unit from Leviathan are one build - 2x Bolt Rifle, 1x Combi, 1x Heavy Bolter and Srg with Combi and Pistol 🤷♂️ though I imagine when they drop a multipart box you'll have the option of all Bolt Rifle or all Combi or whatever.
I think when the Terminators multipart box comes out you'll get all the options... But again... That's Termies. Not standard Primaris guys...
Make them, bolters and other small guns are easy to make with a blue stuff mold and use a 50/50 of Greenstuff and Milliput. Just need on spare gun to make the mold and remember to save one in the bits box to make more in the future.
D6 average is 3.5, not 3
So 5×d6 = 17.5 hits. Not 15.
The math is wildy off. When you work with averages you can't just round up n down as you wish. E.g. 8:04 - 11Wounds saved on 3+ is 3.7, not 5 damage on avg. The video is filled with that kind of mistakes.
I've used 5 "as is" and the other 5 as long fangs (heresey lascannons kitbash) for my new space wolves army 🤌
Yeah I'm gonna run Sternguard with my wolves too and between them theyll play the 'long fang' type role, just a Primaris special weapon bods as opposed to a furry first born Devastator squad.
I haven't gotten around to actually getting work done on my Infernus Marines but am definately planning to add them to my Blood Angels 🩸🩸🩸
