Mods in description! If you guys have any other mod suggestions tell me in the comments (don't link as YT shadowbans them) and I'll add them to the description for people to use :) Cya all I'm of to play some Old World today :D
You should re-do a video similar to this, but instead go with around 25 top mods. Only 5 is not nearly enough to unlock the full potential of modding, and there are way too many that a lot more people should know about.
Do you use a certain siege mod that works well with the siege maps or vanilla? Cause I'm never sure what to pick but really want to have at least some cool sieges.
The AI has absolutely no idea how to handle siege maps in the base game.. Even super basic stuff like unit pathfinding struggles on anythign other than a fully open map.. I'm guessing the AI handles those custom siege maps as bad if not worse than the base map!?
Ah yeah, I got one thing that NO ONE talks about: Why the fuck does a faction that is literally a bunch of animated skeletons, with no flesh, no immune systems, no organs, absolutely nothing but bones a voice and a consciousness suffer from plagues or siege attrition ? It has always pissed me off whenever I have played as Tomb Kings and somehow my army gets infected by a skaven plague. Literally makes zero sense. The siege thing I can understand for balance, but plagues ? C'mon..... c'mon now
While I agree for Skavens (it's a gameplay thing though), Nurggle actually developped plagues for undead and other disease resistant/immune things and creatures.
@@Gyratus man, you and I both know that the plague mechanics in the game are no where near as in depth and detailed as they are in lore, so that doesn't really fly with me especially when the plague is never specified as something that affects Tomb Kings.
Bad design it is and nothing else When 1 race out of 36 has no attrition when sieged or similar it aint a broken balance, but a feature, corpo suits have no idea about that, all they care are metrics
The fancier forest line is awesome as well. It used to be a lot simpler but now they have racial vegetation for everyone! There is a pairing for Dynamic World.
Thanks so much for coming back to mods, Nathan. Here are my go-tos: Tabletop caps, Details matter, Alternative unit cards, Variant selector, Better camera mod, Ultimate lighting, Expanded event art, Campaign weather overhaul, Smart throgg voice, Unique gates of chaos, Rotate all lords and heroes, Settlement capture pictures, Unique faction currencies, Dynamic worlds + fancier forestry, high resolution ui improvements, Lore Names: Renamed Unique Lords & Heroes Names, Supreme victory: battle results, points of interest with pictures, More charcter names, Smirk's blood (A little less blood for the blood god), shorter weapon trails, Beytter defined/brighter borders, Alernate loading screens, Undivided music swapper, Faction unit cards and many more. I always load a campaign with these, when not already incorporated in other mods like SFO ✌️
I think another really great mod for immersion is the "Simple Dynamic Settlement" Mod which Changes the settlement design to the one of the faction who conquered it. Haven't tested it but it would be cool if its compatable with the other mods mentioned here that affect the settlements
Can confirm it is. I use all of the mods in this video + Simple Dynamic Settlement, smooth as butter. Just makes the start of a campaign kind of a pain, as you have to wait for Dynamic World to do its thing either in the loading screen before you press "Continue" or right at the start after you press it immediately, and then do the same for SDS after it prompts you to initialize it. Between those two, that's a solid minute or two whenever loading a new campaign where I have to just wait, not click anything, not even switch tabs, or my game crashes (YMMV on the crash thing, I have a LOT of mods, but I don't think they'd make a difference for those two initializing) but after that it's fine Edit: actually, I haven't tried adding OvN Lost World yet, it might not be compatible with SDS. Will update after trying it. But it 100% works with all the others. Edit 2: tested it, works. OvN custom settlement replaced with vanilla settlement of conquering faction as per standard SDS
@@marcog.verbruggen674 I'm definitely interested in knowing if OvN Lost World is compatible with SDS. The revamped settlements from Lost World are AMAZING, but it would be immersion breaking to have orcs take Altdorf and it keep the same skin.
@@KJC640 @cLaPtR4bZ Just loaded up a campaign to test it out. Seems like it works fine. With Ovn Lost Worlds and SDS, the custom OvN settlement graphic is replaced with the generic graphic from the faction that conquered the settlement if they belong to a different culture group.
Theres a small mod called Building Progression Icons III that changes the building icons as they progress through the tiers, so a level 1 barracks has a different icon to a level 2 and a level 3 one which ive always thought is one of the cooler mods going. Theres one called Dynamic Garrisons that changes the garrison based off all the buildings in your settlement, not just the main one, so your main building adds a base number of troops, then Military buildings can add more, whereas economy buildings don't tend to add any, apart from the top tiers, which lets you build up your Settlements more thematically There are several Landmark mods, I use Immortal Landmarks, which just add more unique Landmark buildings to different settlements
The number one thing that breaks immersion are "doom stacks". An army of Sisters of Avelorn, for example, is so stupid, on so many levels. The Table Top Caps mod turns WH3 into a proper representation of WHFB, where unit choice actually matters. Not only that, but all of the lower tier units that you just forget even exist after 50 turns retain their usefulness, along with all of the lord skills that go with them. Mixu's lord mods are also a "must have" if you want as many lords/heroes from the lore.
Some extras that help with immersion: -> Smart Throgg Voice Pack: replaces Throgg's voice lines to stay faithful to Throgg as portrayed in Kinslayer. -> Better Camera Mod: better zoom in and zoom out on campaign and battle maps. -> Reloading Animations: adds reloading animations to a number of units with no reload animations. I don't include Dynamic Settlements as I actually found it immersion breaking...I prefer to think of armies capturing the enemy cities rather than replacing them fully. Same with Fancier Forestry, I know some people love it, but for me it changes the world too much and everything starts to look the same. All the other mods on your list though are also on mine, some really great ones!
@TheGreatBookofGrudges don't forget dynamic settlements and immortal landmarks, they add in some much needed features that quite frankly should have been in the base game on launch.
At this point CA could buy some of this mods and include them in their DLCs, this way the modders get money and the game is fixed with little effort from CA.
OVN Old World, Legendary Lore, and the Dynamic World one need to be implemented into the game... i just got these on your recommendation and omg man as soon as the game loaded in im like whoa... the lore on the settlements is so cool and they look so good with this mod
There is a campaign configuration mod that lets you extend your campaigns massively! I love it. You make a game, then change the effects a clinate has on construction time and growth. I set it to 300% and you spend much longer on each tech tier. And you use warband to upgrade fat more becaise of it.
I'm pretty sure you already showcased them once but the Fancier Forestry, Dynamic Weather & Dynamic World Mods would be perfect additions to the ones mentioned in this video.
I literally cannot play without either Immortal Empires expanded or on the Old World map now. Going back to the standard Immortal Empires map it just feels so small and somewhat empty
One thing that this game needs desperately is an animation overhaul: Specifically death animations. From all the game 1 and 2 races. they tried to go for that "over the top fantasy" effect since the first game where characters go flying off their feet from an arrow hitting them and its really ugly to look at and pulls me out of the immersion personally. I think animations > graphics can make or break a game. Cathay and Kiselv units actually have a more rome 2 style death animation when they die, they dont go soaring 15 feet in the air when they get hit by an empire swordsman, I wish someone would make a mod for death animations just like the old Rome 2 days. Imo rome 2 had the best death animations in the entire series.
One thing thats probably almost impossible to do, but would be very cool, is that it would be cool to have cities, when besieged, showing the buildings that you have built,so you could see like maybe a smithy, if youve built some, or like the star chamber for the lizardmen.
I play with mods but I understand why many don't. So many mods get abandoned which means broken saves if the game updates at the wrong time. That said using a few largely compatible and well kept mods does nothing but improve the game.
As a new player as of last week, definitely would recommend. Super duper easy to install/uninstall, there's TON of choice depending on what exactly you want, you can heavily modify the base game with map extension, new factions, units addition, or just get minor tweaks like unique UI for each faction, better camera for battles, better lighting etc. Mods are just an improvement to the base game that the devs are too busy or lazy to do
Hello again good sir! If I may suggest you publish, or even make a content video about it, your mod list. The mods you use each time you load up WH3... especially with SFO. I still religeously play WH 2 over 3 simply because I haven't had time to figure out a good mod list like I have with wh 2. Could you please make a content video about this? I do not play nor enjoy vanilla experience. I play a heavily modded game (around 280 mods atm). But it is really frustrating to keep the mods updated and all the patches and hot fixes breaking everything all the time. I am essentially waiting for WH3 to stop getting any kind of updates so I can finally relax and play. In year or two . . .
Hey newer player here and never used a mod before on my life. Do I just download all these from steam and then select them as options before a campaign or what? Slight confusion.
Could you provide us with the load order? We are having crashes round 19 as allied Teclis and Tiktaq'to when going through turn of 182/219, so probably a minor faction, one of the new ones maybe. All we added is mod configuration tool, 2 Daniel improving mods and Landmarks of Eternity+ immortal empire expanded edition. we are gonna test if it's that.
problem was landmarks of eternity (+expanded) and OvN Lost World being incompatible somehow, though Lost World stating presumed compatibility with other landmark mods. Would still be nice to know your load order, just for the future :)

I use all the extra faction mods and legendary lord ones. Really slows the game down and crashes every 10 or so turns.. I'm not sure why I do it to myself, but I can't really play without them.
