  • A tracked Bobcat skid-steer loader, fitted with a forestry flail attachment, gets put through its paces. Watch as it destroys tree stumps, undergrowth and young trees!
Constructon machinery used in forestry environments is featured in this month's issue of EARTHMOVERS MAGAZINE.

Is this a demonstration on how to beat the shit out of a good machine?

Wow, this guy should never be put in a piece of equipment again. I got mad just watching this display of ignorance and abuse. Why would Earthmovers Magazine publish this, unless the one posting it has no idea that this is how not to operate. The shock load on the entire hydraulic system, bearings, cutter head and machine in general is just insane.

Genuinely concerned the flail is rotating in the wrong direction. As seen, the operator is subject to material propelled in his direction. If the direction of the flail was reversed material would be ejected in the opposite direction, creating a potential danger for bystanders, true, but as seen the operator is closest to the material stream. Bystanding could be minimized easily on most projects. Reversing the flail direction is what I would recommend if asked.

Instead of tracked bobcat skid steer loader, why not call it a track loader? Which, in fact, is what it is
