Parking on the streets is practically impossible, but there are many underground parking garages. Moreover, Brugge has one of the biggest underground parking garages of the country with over 1400 parking spaces. When you exit the parking, you will find the main shopping street right there, and the market squere is only a 10 minute walk away. For all the visitors coming by car, please don't drive in the city center. Bruges is really small, you can park your car underground and walk everywhere or take the free shuttle.
Flemish is a Dutch dialect, so the languages are Flemish (Dutch), French and German. Bruges is in the region Flanders so the signs will be in Flemish/Dutch.
11:00 that’s exactly what I think mate, I don’t think straight has 1st priority, left has 2nd priority, right has 3rd priority, I just think if I’m crossing the path of someone I’m going to let them go first because I’m crossing their path.
I live in belgium and i gotta admit , we have the worst roads in europe but at least we can drive on the right side of the road cause i would be so confused if i had to drive in England ..
The garage doors should have the allowed number plate(s) on them. So that passing police know what cars are allowed in front of the garage. But in most cases a car will only be towed if the garage owner calls the police because (s)he needs to get in or out of the garage and there's a car in the way.
You've never driving in rural Wales, I live on a single track, no pavement at all, bearly room for a large vehicle, 2 way street that is on a steep hill. And there are a lot of roads like this around here.
I remember my Dad one holiday deciding we were off to Mwnt beach in Cardigan, the air was blue down those roads and him stressing about nearly hitting hedges and locals go past with literally centimetres between us, we only went that once🤣
@@eeyore13 I’ve one friend in Betws - y - Coed and one in Knighton but don’t think I’ll be driving to either (my 1L Hyundai i10 isn’t the best with hills!)
I love Bruges but definitely wouldn’t drive there or abroad ever. Been by coach, train and on cruises but always dropped off at coach park and walked. Last time I visited Rotterdam I got the train to Delft and wandered round thinking how narrow the roads were, driving looked hard there too.
I've been to Bruges many times but never driven. Luckily for me, most of the locals understand French very well and quite a few understand English too. Lovely video, thank you Francis. Btw, I reckon you're around 32-34 years old. Please tell me if I'm wrong 😂
You've convinced me, I never want to drive there I'll stick with Galashiels and Peebles! I reckon you're about 35, about 40 years younger than me! Nice video.
Well I commented on your instagram post and I love to see the video. I’ll be joining my mum at the Christmas markets this year, I’m prepared in advance now cause we’re taking the car. I’m gonna have to look this up but I believe Belgium (and Germany and many more countries) do ‘equal crossings’ which means that right has priority if there are no signs or traffic lights. You usually find them in city centers, in The Netherlands 90% of the time in the 30-zones. A colleague told me that giving priority to cyclists coming from the right at these intersections is relatively new, that rule exists since 2001 or 2006. Pretty mental, at that age I was 4 or older and already starting to ride a bike 😳
And that is possibly a partial reason for some of the confused looks he got because he kinda failed to yield to multiple cyclist coming from the right and giving way to cars from the left. And on top of that he seemed to yield to quite a few pedestrians crossing the road where he did not need to. Now i do know that at least in parts of the UK they changed a rule so that it now gives priority to pedestrians wanting to cross in at least a couple of situations. So that might be a reason for confusion as well.
Ive not driven in Belgium but have cycled thier when i did liege bastogne liege they all spoke French and you went past Spa race track the roads where super steep i think i did 186miles over 9 hours. When i got back to liege it was gridlocked with cars. The only thing i worried about when cycling abroad is getting on the motorway on the bike. Its easily done. I almost did in italy and spain
@DrivingSchoolTV it wasn't just a lot of miles it was also something like 4500 m elevation so basically a mountain stage in the tour . Saying that because I've cycled in some of these countries when I've driven it has being easier. I usually say right is Right so I don't go on the left. They all drive different in every country. Italy is the most nuts Spain I found chilled and france was similar to hear. Cycled in Paris and everyone is fighting for the same space. Whem I went to Seoul the taxi drivers drove around in squares then when you went to cross the road it was something mad like 8 lanes. The only way to cross was 1 lane clear cross then wait for the next lane to clear then cross
To get theier no car get a flight to Brussels then take a train it's about 90 minutes to 2 hours cost of train 25 euro and use Brussels airlines can get flights at roughly 150 return trains I'm Europe you don't need to book in advance for a good price. If you go to Geneva it free public transport or at least it used to be a couple of years ago. Geneva felt the safest place I've being in Europe
I think I'd have to hire a car if I was driving on the other side of the road because it would confuse me on which lane I need to be in. At least in a LHD car it's easy to know to stay closest to the middle of the road
I will actually try that next time! I'm not sure if the familiarity of the car you've been driving for ages, even though the steering wheel is on the wrong side, or a brand new car you're not comfortable driving with the wheel on the right side, would be better
@@DrivingSchoolTV I think because in the UK we drive on the left with RHD cars, it would seem more natural to me for everything to be mirrored when driving in mainland Europe
@@DrivingSchoolTV yes and i passed my exam for the 3rd time last 2 august. i was so relieved heheheh more power to u and ur channel im always watching.

Lovely vid!
🤣🫶
Don't think I have enough alcohol in the house 😂
11:34 that car had enough space despite the bike, to move a bit more to the right. You didn't have to back up.
And if anybody had to back up, it should have been the other car. The cammer is just too nice a driver.

I'm pretty sure that you had priority at around 9:54 and 12:44, since the general rule at unmarked junctions is to give way to the right.
16:06 looks for a parking spot, drives past a clearly marked parking area :)
But that is understandable, because of the stress involved.
Love your vids mate!
but your cars tennis ball gear stick drives me mental :D
