I thought I caught a swarm in my hive to but I guess they didn't like it and moved on bummer

Keep trying! Bees can be picky sometimes but if you are getting scouts that's a good sign.

I see that your hives are separated across the property and stand alone with good distance between them. I would also like to separate some hives and have the property to do so, but we have black bears and I need a electric fence around my apiary. Do you have bears in your area? If so why don't they get into the hives? ✌️

We have bears but we also own some Great Pyrenees dogs that bark a decent amount, so I don't think the Bears like being near of our farm. They haven't been a problem so far but anything is possible.

We build most of our swarm traps using the free plans from www.HorizontalHive.com . You can also buy some good quality swarm traps from that same website if you wish.
