Saving and repairing this McLaren has probably brought you more respect and subscribers than anything you’ve done since straightening the Goonz Trackhawk….big big respect and best wishes to you from the UK Ben! 🆒
Yo vTuned, this build is off the charts. We know you spent a ton of $$$$ on parts. But honestly, if you add up all the time you spent, it would far outweigh the parts cost. This is a labor of love, man. And it shows!
Honestly, I am not convinced that is accurate. They could have really exceeded the cost of a used McClaren. Not to mention the resale on this is going to be not good, no one would want to buy a rebuilt McClaren that was frankensteined back together with a bunch of guesswork
@@mikerzisu9508 my point is that if they fairly costed out the labor, it wouldn't be worth fixing. They did for the experience and the video. For them, it was worth it. Sometimes it's about the journey, not the destination.
Hey Vtuned, TRUST ME DUDE, You DONT have to explain to ANYONE who’s been watching this build from the VERY beginning about lining up doors and gaps, THIS McLarean is gonna be BETTER than any other McLarean in the WORLD!!!!!!! This is one of my favorite YT car rebuilds of all time. Ben has been meticulous with this project every step of the way. As much as I want to see it run and drive after completed I'm going to miss this build. Hopefully we get a lot of B-roll when it comes time.

My favorite car restoration channel. Love the work you do and watched this project . How you remember where all the nuts and parts go , even filming it all as you do it, it nuts to me (did you have any left over bolts or screws?) You are a humble guy as well for your age. Nice to see in nowadays.
It’s been a long hard road, but it’s looking fantastic and can’t wait until it is completely finished and on the road. White was the way to go. Looks clean even if it isn’t. Not like black would be. That shows every speck of dust and dirt. Congratulations on your persistence and determination during the build! I wouldn’t have attempted this, even when I was younger. I’m 64 and have other people take care of repairs and maintenance of my vehicles. An injury that left me left hand pretty much useless is the main reason. Enjoy your toy! Roger in Pierre South Dakota
V tuned your one amazing chap, love your work ethics. Taking your time on this build is paying off my friend. Will look a million dollars when its finished. Keep the video's coming 👌🇬🇧🎥🎥🇬🇧👌
@Vtuned super proud of you 👍🏻 your the only one on TH-cam that has done a complete swap on a McLaren well done Sir. Love your content. I just want to see you rip it. Take it to the FF fan drags and show it off and get your channel out there.
you are the lucky few that's been picked to be maclaren apprentice, your first day of home work is to watch all the videos on rebuilding a maclaren by v tune....
It’s all coming together nicely, and yeah it’s true, the finishing touches are always insanely stressful to get everything looking good. I personally would leave the wiper arms satin black, because wipers are ugly and gloss black would just make them stand out more, which wouldn’t be good. Trim, cowls and wiper arms are usually satin to help hide them and give a sleeker look.
No the hardest thing you did. Was pulling the trigger on this whole build. And saying you can do it!! Amazing. Fun watch. I been here since you got it. This is the first build I followed the whole way! Congrats!
Watching builds of sports cars has shown me that their body parts are like a thin exoskeleton covering the passenger cell and engine. Great rebuild guys.

I said it before - painting this car white was the best move for it. It's a lot of work in trying to get all of those curves & weird angles to align, but it's looking sharp. A screw here, some epoxy there, get the codes cleared - & let her rip!
Way to find every opportunity to make yours better than stock. For example, by putting a better finish in the wiper arms! The details matter. I’d rather have your 720 with a salvage title than a typical used example!
There is a company in the UK that sells gas struts at any length that you can adjust for the amount of spring pressure by letting the air out via a grub screw. The painted steel ones are cheap and they come in stainless steel for a bit more. They can be fitted with several different mounts so are fully customisable.
