As a sixty eight year old sinner who has been celibate for about 15 years, I must say that the last 15 years have been the best for my psyche and growth in God.
Well, the reality is that you started at 53. That's past sexual prime and easier. Although I am starting to have past 50 health-related issues, I don't think I ever want my youth back if I had to relive the difficulties rising from overwhelming sexual urges.

as a cradle catholic, i’m glad i abstained until marriage. met a wonderful girl who converted before we married, and she also remained chaste until after our wedding. we were each others’ firsts, and have been keeping faithful. no regrets whatsoever!

@@kermierogers7876 why not? i'm a 40-something never-married man who's also a virgin and completely porn-free as well. i have strong sexual urges just like any other heterosexual man but i am able to control my impulses because i have discipline. why don't we stop pushing the falsehood that people cannot control themselves?
As someone who has been struggling with my identity due to decades of bullying and obesity, I am so glad that the Catechism and channels like Pints with Aquinas exists, because too many Priests and even the Pope himself confuse the faithful with their statements. I wish more Priests and Bishops would be as clear as Bishop Strickland.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Courage program. It's Catholic, but many bishops pretend that it doesn't exist. Same sex attracted people can support each other in friendship as they pursue a chaste life.

Few in the pulpit, pastor or priest, would ever use the word “disordered” and that’s exactly what sexuality is apart from Gods design and prescription is for sex. We’ve broken away from Christian/biblical ideas about sex, gender, marriage and family. Here we are in 2023 unhappy as ever, we lost as ever, but we sure have a our pride. 🏳🌈
@@TheSaintFrenzy I think you are spot on with your comment. It's too bad that the word "disordered" carries such negative weight in our culture today. It is very easy to explain that disordered describes an action which is not order toward God, our highest good (whether or not one recognizes Him as such), so it is therefore DISORDERED. If people take exception to that, there is nothing more that can be done. I use this language in my homilies often. I get emails from the usual suspects, but the message is thought-provoking for the majority.
Bishop Strickland is a GOOD Shepherd. We need more like him.
The Catholic church protects sexual perverts that prey on innocent children. This goes completely opposite the teachings of Jesus Christ. I believe the Catholic church is not a Christian Church, but only 'Catholic' church. People that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ should not attend such a church. It is more for perverts who want access to innocent children.

Bishop's and Priest's like Bishop Strickland are wonderful examples of what a priest or Bishop should be and how they shepherd the flock in the Church today. Both the Bishop and Matt make excellent points: 1. The term “disordered” applies to all kinds of sexual sin. 2. It refers to a teleological disorder, but most people falsely understand it as meaning a psychological disorder. Very important distinctions.
Absolutely. Bishop Strickland is less persuasive because he doesn't tackle this basic point first. As a result, too much of this sounds like assertion without reasoning. A diisappointment.
Disordered doesn’t just apply to sexual sin, it also applies to greed, self indulgence ( shopping, eating) despair etc.

But he places the GOP and Trump above the Church. He only supports the teachings that can be considered conservative, or do you think it's a coincidence that he cast numerous mothers into a fiery pit because he doesn't like their party affiliation? He does not love any Democrats. He's full of blind hatred. Don't believe me? Tell him you voted for Biden in 2020 because you saw Trump admit to a room full of evangelical Protestants that he's never asked God for forgiveness.
This was very interesting, this is the first time I've heard a Priest or Bishop actually talk about the difficulties for remaining celibate.

I was married, and now I am alone as far as the world is concerned. I took a vow of chastity years ago and this path has been a beautiful journey toward my heavenly Spouse, Jesus Christ, the true Beloved, and the one with Whom I will spend eternity. After having way too much sex (outside of marriage) and battling huge lust demons since I was 14 years old, I have been celibate (still single) for almost ten years. It's not really hard once you turn away from the world and turn to Jesus.
Being chaste as an older senior comes with devotion and total surrender to Jesus and Mary on your spiritual journey! Grace upon grace is given to you by God! Amen.❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Charity demands clarity. The Bishop is spot on about the widespread disorder in human sexuality, the Church must teach the truth clearly, whatever groups feel it unfair.
And yet, Bishop Strickland is uncharitable towards Democrats as a whole. How many mothers did he claim are going to hell? How many mothers did he cast into a fiery pit simply because they don't vote Republican? And whether you like it or not, the Democrats and Republicans are both corrupt. Trump didn't change that. He exacerbated the problem.

There was a saint whom I forget her name, but she was a nun who was tested with certain sins such as anger towards another in her convent or jealousy, whenever tested with that sin, she always increased her behaviour in the opposing grace. Such as If she felt angry towards another nun, she would try to be extra nice to her instead. That is something I try to emulate. Even though it is cot directly stated, ( or maybe is)it is implied by Christ and his disciples in written documents and stories and are good role models in following Christ. People throughout history have done things through kindness and bravery and so forth and have gone through circumstances similar to us in our lives, but have done something extraordinary to follow Christ and we should emulate that. Such is the story of the Saints. All of which was inspired by Christ.

Thank you. My son (who will turn 18) and I watched this. We then had a father-son discussion afterwards on the Catechism.
On the Commandment, 'You Shall Not Fornicate (Deut 5:18),' and Sexual Satisfaction, Our Lord says (excerpts from Maria Valtorta's Poem of Man-God, Vol. 1, pp.665-667): "Do not fornicate! Oh, tell Me, especially you men. Which of you has not tasted this bread made with ashes and excrement, which is Sexual Satisfaction? And is lust only what carries you for one hour between the arms of a prostitute? Is lust not also the desecrated union with your wife; desecrated because it is a ratified vice as it is reciprocal sensual satisfaction, which, however, evades its consequences?
Marriage means procreation and its act MEANS and MUST be fecundation. Otherwise it is immoral. You MUST not make a brothel of your nuptial beds, and that is what they become if they are soiled by lust and are not consecrated by maternity. The earth does not reject the seed. It receives it and makes a plant of it. The seed does not escape from the furrow after being laid there. But it takes root at once and it strives to grow and bear fruit, that is the vegetable creature born of the union between soil and seed. Man is the seed, woman is the soil, and the fruit is the son. It is sinful to refuse to bear fruit and scatter strength in vain. It is PROSTITUTION performed on the nuptial bed, and, in no way differs from the other prostitution. Do you not consider that Pleasure is a Poison that contaminates every mouth that tastes it? It burns with fire that seems to satisfy, instead it falls out of the fireplace and devours, more and more insatiable, leaving a sour taste of ash on the tongue as well as disgust, nausea and contempt of both oneself and the partner in pleasure, because when a conscience revives, and it does revive between two hearts, one can but feel such contempt of oneself, being lowered below the level of beasts.
A great deal of the carnal actions of men are fornications. And I do not take into consideration the inconceivable obsessive union which Leviticus condemns; "Man, you must not lie with a man as with a woman, and you must not lie with any animal (Lev 18:22-23)." But after mentioning the Duty of Husband and Wife in Marriage, which is no longer holy when it becomes barren through malice, I am going to speak of the true and proper fornication between man and woman performed out of reciprocal vice or for compensation in money or gifts. The human body is a magnificent temple that contains an altar. God should be on the altar. But God is not where there is corruption. Therefore impure body has a desecrated altar without God. Like a drunken person, who wallows in ire and in the regurgitations of his own drunkenness, man lowers himself in the brutality of fornication and becomes worse than the most impure worm and beast.
Tell Me, if among you, there is anyone who has perverted himself, which benefit did you gain? Take your hearts in your hands, examine them, question them, listen to them, note their wounds, their pangs, and then tell Me: was the fruit so sweet as to deserve such pain to a heart that was born pure and that you have compelled to live in impure body, and to beat to give life, and heat to lust, and to be worn out by vice? Tell Me: are you so perverted that you do not sob secretly, hearing the voice of a child calling, 'mummy', or thinking of your mothers, you, woman of pleasure, who have run away from home or have been driven out of them, so that the rotten fruit may not contaminate with its oozing rottenness the other good ones? Thinking of your mothers, who probably died broken-hearted, having to say, 'I gave birth to disgrace'? But above all, are you not terrified of the Just Judge, Who created you and is waiting for you to ask you, 'what have you done of yourself?' Did I, perhaps, give you life for that? One minister said we go to HELL one step at a time. Disordered thinking leads to disordered actions and rationalization . As one person told me "God wants me to be Happy" my response " No He wants me to be Holy.and then I will be happy."
The evil one knew exactly what he was doing when he said, "did God REALLY say...?" Up to the very day, so many people continue rationalizing, "Oh, he couldn't POSSIBLY..."

I know it will be hard to swallow,but this man,is telling us what was preached to me,as a young Catholic boy,I am 75,born in 1948,This is the true teaching of the Catholic faith!There is to much liberalism in the church,and way to much in society!We all need more discipline,in our faith and in our life’s!

This is what I was taught in RCIA back in 1991. Thanks be to God. I have seven children now instead of the 3 I thought we were going to have, Thanks be to God!!! Being Catholic is THE Best gift God has given to me!!! Thanks be to God.

The church needs more brave bishops like Bishop Strickland who are on point with the teachings of our Catholic faith
"For most of the planet across the world it would be disordered..." As a woman who has been married to one man for nearly 22 years and in all that time have never been unfaithful, I can say YES, my sexual expression in my life has been DISORDERED, even during this long time of monogamy! I'm not off the hook just because I'm married and straight. It is not always disordered, and it is not ONLY disordered, but nonetheless, even we who are in heterosexual unions for life are going to catch ourselves sinning sexually. Even women like me, in their 40s, who go to church and confession and pray constantly! Even nuns, monks, priests, SAINTS. It is increasingly difficult to avoid disordered sexual behavior in the world today, but I truly believe very very few people ever born throughout the history of humanity have avoided sexual sin. In the same way, nearly no one has avoided pride, greed, envy or sloth, neither have we been able to escape lust. The important thing is that when we fall down, we get up and turn from the sin, and when we fall again, we get up again, and again and again. Our sexual obsession in the modern age makes this seem like an insurmountable obstacle, but it is no more or less dangerous to our souls than the other sins, it just happens to have the spotlight on it in our age. Pray to the Theotokos for help in doing God's will. Pray to Saint Mary of Egypt for her intercessions on behalf of your debaucherous sin. God bless!

If sexual obsession and sexual sins are disorders of any kind should they be treated or are prayers enough to treat those disorders.
